Wondering if its safe to use an MSD 2 BLASTER coil (0.7 ohms) +1.6 ohm resistor with a Pertronic 1761 ignitor module installed in a stoch hitachi single point dizzy? I tried contacting Pertronix and they argue that there is no need to use the resistor at all. This doesnt seem right. Im trying to achieve a good spark at idle. Any advantage or disadvantage with this setting?

What happened to the temp reading you were going to provide. Thought You said you had ordered one from AMZ and would let us know right away.

Set timing at 10 degrees! Still very hot! Took temperature at manifold, coil and fuel bowls

Your gauge is bad/way out of calibration. Get another one off eBay.

I got this gauge from ebay 7 years ago. Weird as i did the grounding test to the gauge and the needle went to the far right.

The gauge is out of calibration. That test only tells you it’s not dead.

Well at least you know at this point that the problem hasn’t been an overheating issue.

Hope i can purchase a NOS temp and oil gauge somewhere. Car does hesitate at this temp during traffic jams.
