plastic tool box hinges

Featured Replies

Hello

I have the boxes but no hinges

As the hinges (not a good picture Resurrected Classic site) look quite simple I thought I would try printing some

If anyone has pictures and dimensions that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Nick

I bought new lids with the hinges and one is already broken. I might be able to get you some dimensions

Do you want these dimensions in mm or inches?

My original ones are out of the car sitting on the shelf if necessary.

A suburb response

Thank you all

It looks like the hinge is made from a single material I can't tell from the pictures how rigid the material is?

It looks like it has a degree of flex?

Im thinking of using pla and then merging tpu for the hinge.

I guess one could go for years never having to open the box so as long as it holds together to be fitted it should be ok!!

Thank you all again for your help

Ill let you know how I get on

Nick

I think I would do the whole hinge in TPU and use some epoxy down the surface of the hinge faces to increase rigidity. If you are going to print the cover PETG would be much more forgiving than PLA.

Nice drawing @Patcon , you definitely up-leveled mine. You probably already know this but if you rename your attached picture from 20260608_182404 to something like "Datsun 240z tool cover hinge measurements" it will come up on google image searches and link back to the site. This will help exposure and undoubtedly a wider audience.
