ZCON 2015 Hookup
The only published schedule is here: http://zccazconvention.com/conventions/2015/?page_id=12 I don't see any significant overlaps on events. The People's Choice show is at Millington Jetport, must be some other non-ZCON event there to get the food and music.

Zcon Roll Call
The ZCON Facebook page indicates they are working with a Staybridge Suites next door as an overflow hotel but not yet confirmed. https://www.facebook.com/zconvention

ZCON 2015 Hookup
Bruce - that's a great offer, thanks. Lets make a final decision when we meet at ZCON. I'll go ahead and sign up for the Sat. show when I hit registration. Zee'ya there!

ZCON 2015 Hookup
The ZCON folks confirmed that Millington is the location of the People's Choice show. Could be a bit tight as the show runs to 3 pm and the closing banquet begins at 5:30. I was hoping to make this show but since I have get the car loaded onto a trailer for an early Sunday morning departure, I'll miss this event. http://www.millingtonregionaljetport.com/ (I now declare this thread TOTALLY derailed!)

ZCON 2015 Hookup
I've posted a question on the ZCON Facebook site about the location, will update this group as soon as I get more info. Millington is 12 mi. north of Memphis (MEM-PHUS), doesn't seem to make a lot of sense - who's going to be the audience? The host site schedule says music and food to be available - can't really see that at an airport venue.

Zcon judging rules
DJ - if going into the DD class, only the interior and exterior will be judged, they would expect the engine bay to be closed so any underhood mods "did not happen" and it doesn't matter anyway. The rules have no statement on mods: DAILY DRIVER Vehicle must be a daily driver with at least 75,000 driven miles on odometer. The vehicle can be personalized with various add-on items such as: lowering, air dam, rear deck spoiler, fog lights, aftermarket wheels, override bars, after-market sound system, after-market mirrors, after-market seats, carpets and upholstery, and after-market exhaust. Stock vehicles can enter this class with mileage criteria. The “Daily Driver†class is not eligible for a GOLD MEDALLION or GOLD CUP AWARD. In the Street Modified class, the engine bay is judged and visible mods must be counted: your radiator, carbs, and A/C for a total of 3. Interior mods would include your power port as it has nothing to do with the A/C. I suspect the clock would get a pass as it might easily be taken for a rally clock. The updated stereo & speakers are likely one mod (you bought it as a kit, right?) and the luggage bar another one. On the exterior, the front and back override bars count as 2 since they were sold individually. Alloy wheels are a mod as is the pass. side mirror. Dealer add-ons are just that - not from the factory and therefore mods. Just because changes are permitted in this class does not mean they don't have to be counted.

Zcon judging rules
Chris - are you coming to ZCON?

Zcon judging rules
I don't think your mods automatically place you in the DD class. The Street Modified class also allows for up to 15 visible mods BUT expect these cars to be super clean and very well detailed out. No grease or grime in the engine bay, decals in place, upholstery in excellent shape, paint in almost perfect condition, no dirt anywhere. Think Stock class but with mods - the judging criteria is the same. The DD class allows for signs of road use such as paint chips without every nook and cranny sparkly clean. Expect reasonable road grime buildup in the engine bay. Upholstery should be in good shape and a clean interior. Overall the car should be clean, shiny, and unbent with wear appropriate to its age. Sorry you won't make it to the party, I always enjoy your posts. Hope this helps a bit.

ZCON 2015 Hookup
Derail a thread? This group? For all of you thinking of various outings, here's a link to the current events schedule: http://zccazconvention.com/conventions/2015/?page_id=12 And yes - I just derailed my own thread!!! Still no takers on using Zello or an alternative approach?

Pointed Tip Antenna Mast
AJ - thanks for the links (I previously had them saved as favs). My problem is not a broken nylon core but a locked section. The rod of the last section is firmly locked in the last tubular section - no in/out movement whatsoever. The motor runs freely and the mast goes up and down smoothly except for the last section not extending. I suspect something has happened to the ferrule attached to the end of the solid rod and it has become fixed to the tubular section in some manner. So... even if I removed the tip, the rod section will still not drop out the bottom of the assembly. The rod has about 1/8" showing and even a few light taps on the tip would not break it free.

ZCON 2015 Hookup
Arranging for companions of the evening is one's personal responsibility. Zello is a walkie-talkie app for smartphones. I only recently came out of the Neolithic age and got my first smartphone. Using something like this bypasses the need for everyone to keep up with others contact info on their personal phone. I'll PM my phone # to you.

ZCON 2015 Hookup
I suspect any post with hookup in the title will get some attention from this bunch. For those of us attending ZCON in Memphis, we need some way to easily contact each other, arrange meetings and introductions, ...etc. I propose we look at the Push-To-Talk app called Zello, available for Android and iPhone. My local club is getting underway with it for local cruises and the caravan trip to Memphis. I've gone on Zello and set up a channel named "czcc", password "classicz" - everything in lower case. It requires a verified email address to join, no other restrictions. When you join the channel, you'll get to see other users already registered to it and request to add them to your contacts. The support page at Zello has good instructions for use: http://support.zello.com/home I really want to meet others from this forum and match faces and cars to handles. What do you think?

A Z-threesome sounds like a kinky tech session! Coming to a email inbox near you soon. Thanks for the quick feedback.

Pointed Tip Antenna Mast
I've been working on my antenna and found that the last section will not extend. It is truly locked in place! Everything else works perfectly and a lot of folks might say be happy with what you've got. However... I'm readying the car for ZCON judging and would like to have an antenna mast that FULLY extends. So... does anyone have a Harada pointed tip antenna mast that fully extends, has good finish, and is available for purchase? My next quest will be for some unicorn horns and hen's teeth. Thanks, Jim

OEM style Windshield Washer pump
Just checked RockAuto for the Trico and ACDelco listings for my car and came up with generic pumps. A P/N search found both in stock, $1 difference, I've ordered a Trico for my car. Thanks to Chickenman for posting the P/N's.

Windshield Cleaning - Inside
Any cleaners or preservatives used on the interior may be out-gassing and contributing to haze.

Lifting engine & tranny from the side?
Put lots of padding on the radiator frame and jack up the rear of the car about 10-12" to cut down on the insertion angle.

2015 Datsun
I'm not defending Nissan on this but its clear from the commentary they're not alone in this: "The Datsun Go did earn two stars for rear-seat child occupant protection out of five possible stars, which is also a substandard rating compared to a number of other cars in the Indian market, though it is by no means alone in scoring zero stars for adult protection ratings. Global NCAP recently tested five of India's best-known cars inlcuding the Ford Figo, Hyundai i10, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Alto 800, and Tata Nano. All of them earned zero stars following the tests, with Volkswagen making amends by deciding to fit the Indian-market Polo with airbags, which subsequently received four out of a possible five stars in a crash test.". This is a situation of mfrs. seeking the lowest common denominator based upon existing government regulations. Is it wrong? That depends on where you are coming from: executive (bonus), shareholder (profits), regulator (safety), bureaucrat (public opinion/graft/...), buying public (cheap transportation), ...and so on. There's no perfect answer, we can only be confident that none of these vehicles will make it into countries with more stringent requirements.

Touch-up Paint Sources & Opinions
I recently worked with the folks at PaintScratch.com for touch-up on my 920 Safari Gold. It was not previously in their available set but they quickly researched it, found the formula, and added it their standard offerings. It was a great match! Check them out. Edit: they're using a PPG formulation. http://www.paintscratch.com/

Coolant Hoses & Lines
According to the on-line catalog, your P/N is 14053-E8800, NLA from Nissan. You might do some searches to see if one might be available elsewhere. This is mine, just back from plating this week - and NO, it is not for sale. These steel tubes corrode like crazy, mine has damage at one end but not bad enough to total it. Some JB Weld filled in the pitting. PS - congrats on hanging on to your rear engine lift bracket, most are missing by now!
