FOUND - the American Racing LeMans Wheel
My spare didn't have a center cap originally, until a camaro guy said the same thing to me. He said "You'll loose points without it." He was trying to suggest his chromed-over car was better than mine.

FOUND - the American Racing LeMans Wheel
OOOOOOOOOoooo... All the ignoramuses with the chromed-everything & clearcoat paint jobs are going to get you for that! They'll be standing there saying or thinking to themselves, "That guy doesn't have the center caps on, like everybody else does." But all of US will know... :cheeky:

License plate light debate
My 78 license plate lamp is held on with two screws that are on the ledge, on either side of the hatch's latch. The bulbs are accesible after you remove the lamp. Sorry, no picture.

Repro headlight covers
I' ve always like the covers, but don't they affect the light from the beams? The lamp manufacturers make a good effort to design the lamp lens to focus the beam, but the covers (especially the ones with the hard line) look like they would spread the beam some. thx

What ticks you off about Ebay
For me, I hate it when you search for something, and it comes up with 87 auctions for the same thing, which you don't want anyway. The other annoying thing is all the sellers listing something for 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, when the description says it's for a 280ZX.

Compatible shifter for Jatco trans
No, not the Z, ,my other car does that. The Z only downshifts when you press the gas pedal all the way to the floor, sometimes

Compatible shifter for Jatco trans
My Escort has a 4 speed with lockup TC.
-
Compatible shifter for Jatco trans
My current car probably has hydraulic lockup, so every time I touch the gas pedal when the TC is locked, it shifts down and drives you nuts, plus uses up more gas probably. Electric lockup would avoid that; you just need to remember to unlock the TC when you leave the highway. I think if there was a friendly shop nearby that could do the job for me, I would probably do it, even for a few extra $$. I'd still have the same old, worn-out shifter! :disappoin I'll try to contact Hurst first. I bet I know the response: "We only make shifters for popular domestec US made transmissions. Even if we had one that would fit the Jatco (Ford) transmission, we wouldn't tell you" thxZ

Compatible shifter for Jatco trans
Hey mate, The HybridZ guys supplied the information about the 4EN71B (electric O/D) except you should get it from an 83-84 Maxima (trans, flexplate, shaft, crossmember, wires) I know where to get the trans from, but it probably doesn't have the wires or crossmember, can you at least bodge the wiring? I kinda figure you could get almost any shifter to work if you just drill a hole or something to get the throw correct. FYI, you might be interested in this aussie website for information about 3N71B or 4N71B: http://www.keas.com.au/ thxZ

Compatible shifter for Jatco trans
That's how I got the rebuild tips document. It was from http://www.keas.com.au Very sneaky- I like that.
-
Compatible shifter for Jatco trans
I might do that. First I would change to the 4N71B trans. I have some documents from a trans builder for improvements. I also have some "NEW" aftermarket auto shifters for some 1970s cars, so what could be more period correct? Jatco made transmissions for Ford, so maybe the Ford shifters might work, but which trans is like the Jatco, shifter-wise? thxZ

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
I've been to a number of conventions; cars, cycling, aviation, camping/sports, electronics. They all started (officially) on a Monday and ended (officially) on Friday with the weekends to arrive & depart, parties, unofficial "flea markets," etc. Only the locals come for the day (or two or more...) You're a TX guy, why don't you twist some arms in San Antonio? Good luck... Having the "general public" at a Z car show is scary- I've seen too many paint jobs get ruined from the treatment by the "general public" because "Mr. car enthusiast" insists it wasn't his kid that did it  (BTDT.)

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
I think you (and many others) are missing the point Will, A convention is an event that you go to for the whole week. Just going for a day doesn't get you the whole experience. That's why the organizers plan stuff for every day for the whole week. It's not like the local show that happens on Friday nights so everybody can go, and if you can't, you just go next week to see the same cars. The problem with having the car show on the weekend is that people would have to take TWO work weeks off for the convention, which means probably nobody would go!

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
My car also has Corvette paint on it, so I suppose that makes it less of a Z? DD class allows you to make most any kind of customization, but it's still got a 1978 280Z body, a 1978 280Z engine & driveline, and 1978 280Z VIN plates! And you'll find the name Datsun on the car. You're not going to DSQ cars at the next convention for having non-factory speakers, or carpets, etc. are you? Why don't you guys start complaining about the next convention. FYI, the car show is on a Tuesday. Maybe you can get them to move it to Saturday. Have a nice freeze! :lick:

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
The people n my club don't brsg about how many cars are in the club. We have a great club, period.
-
2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
Why bother calling it a "Z Club" if you have Infinity cars in the club? It doesn't matter if you owned a Z in the past; it's a Z CLUB, not a club for people who owned a Z car. You're supposed to own a Z car, and should use it for the club events, especially Z car related events. I suppose an angler's club is for people who know someone who fishes or fished once (like when they were a kid) instead of people who do the actual fishing? thxZ

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
Then the ZCCA messed up. You're not supposed to have two clubs in the same area, like within 150 miles apart.
-
2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3
Do you have 2 Z clubs in the Chicago area?

2008 Int'l Convention Sep 28 - Oct 3

Really... then I got 88 points deduction on my interior? I suppose I can now mention all the 'illegal' stuff in my car, like the digital rear-view mirror with the compass and speedo in it? thxZ
