I am starting to wonder about getting one of these because it is a 4-wheel-drive model, but more because the LHS frankly can't get any.
  2. Jeff, the rear area is red. OTOH, the PO told me that the exterior is a 1993 Corvette clour called "Teal Green" which, the corvette parts dept. tells me, doesn't exist. I think it's more likely the guy picked that colour from a sheet, and the painter threw together whatever he had that comes close.
  3. thanks Arne, That's where you can get into problems; when you try to match a paint sample to an area on the car. I've talked to several painters who GUARANTEE that they can match the colour, but all they really do is use an electronic colour scanner to scan your paint, and then match it to the colour of some other car! I actually tried to get some paint by giving a paint store my colour code, and, again, they told me that they just scan the car and "match" the paint (again, to some late-model colour!) After insisting that they mix up some paint according to the Datsun colour code, I was told that they don't do it that way, and it wouldn't be a proper match. The paint was for the engine bay, and is 'probably' #303 (green metallic.)
  4. Other than looking at paint colour samples online and guessing at what colour your Z is (or was) , is there a way you can determine the original colour number if there is no decal on the radiator support? thxZ
  5. I go to many shows as a group with the club. Those are usually annual shows, and some are local ones set up by the club. Otherwise, I usualy get the show flyers about a month in advance, then just tidy up the car (it's usually ready to go) and grab a jug of drinking water, stuff the tub in the front seat, and I'm off. It takes a while to be "set up" for car shows, but after you organize your gear, you can just load up the car the night before and take off (for local shows) straight away after a quick breakfast, or grab a McDonald's thing on the way.
  6. My car has clear vinyl along the rockers, whicgh is sort of like the stripes. I noticed that it helps protect the paint from rocks!
  7. Rod also sells neat DATSUN t-shirts. See if you can talk him into throwing one in for free. thxZ
  8. Try this place. It's reasonable & friendly. Rod's discount datsun parts San Jose, Ca 888-257-7773 (408) 314-3006

I know for a fact that many people now don't watch TV, and instead rely on a computer to watch movies or even just surf the Internet instead of movies. even. The Bullrun show is the closest thing to a real rally that you can get on TV lately. It's much better than most, if not all, the other 'reality' shows you can see on TV, which are created just to get people with cheap lives or no taste in quality entertainment to watch. I'll bet the same people have no morals or don't go to church services either. I liked watching it for the entertainment. It's like watching the MASH TV show; you watch it for an hour of peace & relaxation. It's too bad there isn't a real rally like it, and if there was, you probably couldn't get enough video to make an hours worth, or you'd just the cars flying by. If I post reminders for the show, it's for those car-fans who don't watch TV, that they are missing something fairly entertaining, in stead of a truly shallow reality show. When it's cold and snowing outside, there's not much to do in the evening, and this show was an acceptable hour of entertainment. That is unless you like ricer shows or the Pimp-My-Ride shows, or Nas-T-car "racing." Opinions are opinions and everybody's welcome to their own, as long as it's not directed at anyone personally. there is no problem with that. When people read something and don't care to ask for further explanation if the point isn't well understood, then that can lead to problems. thxZ

Some people don't watch TV. They do Internet forums for entertainment.

Nope, I'm not the person with the most interest, unless I was in the show.

Since it wasn't filmed on some perfect beach or movie scene in CA, it looks like more of reality than a "reality show." Maybe somebody can ask Tony ( from the Solstice team) about the drama...

Classic Datsun wins!!! Yeah, right... We know a classic Datsun is a winner, but in this BulllRun rally event, The Shelby SuperSnake team of Spiro & Mike have been declared the winner. If you missed it, it will be re-run a few times this weekend Round 10 Fri 5/1 9:00-10:00am SPEED Round 10 Mon 5/4 12:00-1:00am SPEED Round 10 Thu 5/7 9:00-10:00pm SPEED Round 10 Fri 5/8 1:00-2:00am SPEED Round 10 Sun 5/10 11:00-12:00am SPEED thxZ
  14. Is there a standard size for the round or oval racing sheild, to go on the door or bonnet? It would be better to stick your vinyl numbers to a magnetic sheild instead of the paint, and have to repaint the car after the numbers pull your paint off. thxZ
  15. It's not a 'snake-oil'.' It isn't an oil additive like Slick50 or the Lucas oil products. It's a product that improves the metal in friction areas in a way that it's like adding metal back into those areas. That allows you to extend the life of your engine or part. It's also approved by a notable car manufacturer.
  16. I have my supply of XADO now, and one tube is already in the oil. I noticed the oil pressure up, but that is because I just changed the oil. I expect the compression numbers to be up as well, until the oil wears in a bit. Hopefully the compression wil stay up and even out between the cylinders, and the rod and rocker arm hammering might stop too. There is about 100 miles on the first tube of Zado, so the next one will go in soon, if the weather stays nice! A couple weeks ago we had a snowstorm with about 6-8 inches of snow, and today I'm sittng here in shorts with my shoes off and the windows open! piece!

I think the contestant are picked from the CarDomain.com community. At least there was a contest to pick one from there for the current event, but I didn't see which it was. So I'd conclude that one entered not by sending forms to someplace, but by how blingy or popular you car was on some Internet website. Maybe asking the guy with the Soltice car would tell you how you could enter the event I think an S30 would be the best car for the event, if you got it to run 100% reliably and didn't mind a few scratches or dings from hitting things during the obstacle course challenges. Maybe a spare gas can in the back. thxZ
  18. The oil doesn't go bad, even with conventional oils.

In case you haven't been watching, the last show will be on thursday, 30. April. at 10:00 pm eastern, with a rerun of last week's show at 9pm thxZ
  20. What difference would the turbo injectors have?
  21. He still needs to figure out what was wrong to get any engine to start or run. They have schools in central Colorado that teach Engish? To people or cattle?....
  22. I'd guarantee you the problem is something simple, like a loose wire, but finding it isn't. Changing the engine to something that wasn't designed for the car will be even tougher than getting the factory one to run...
  23. Get a notepad handy when you do this, because you'll be finding all those 'little things' that will need attention later, like the brake line clamps, gas & brake hard lines, hoses, wire loom tape, etc.
  24. Good luck! You'll need some scrub brushes with handles ( like a vegetable brush) and maybe some plastic scouring pads. I got some cheap citrus cleaner at the dollar store that worked well. I have even tried some foaming wheel cleaner with good results (cleans paint & leaves it shiny-looking.) Just don't do it on a nice driveway! Find a gravel area or go to the self-wash place. Spray wax or ArmourAll is nice to use after it's clean.
  25. The best help you can give yourself is to download the "280Z Fuel Injectin Bible." Print it out, get it bound at the copy store, and read the whole thing (in sections) while you're working on the car. Spend time doing your schoolwork first; especially English class. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf The Atlant Z web site also has lots of useful tips: http://atlanticz.ca/index.php/tech-tips.html
