Bull Run rally
I know for a fact that many people now don't watch TV, and instead rely on a computer to watch movies or even just surf the Internet instead of movies. even. The Bullrun show is the closest thing to a real rally that you can get on TV lately. It's much better than most, if not all, the other 'reality' shows you can see on TV, which are created just to get people with cheap lives or no taste in quality entertainment to watch. I'll bet the same people have no morals or don't go to church services either. I liked watching it for the entertainment. It's like watching the MASH TV show; you watch it for an hour of peace & relaxation. It's too bad there isn't a real rally like it, and if there was, you probably couldn't get enough video to make an hours worth, or you'd just the cars flying by. If I post reminders for the show, it's for those car-fans who don't watch TV, that they are missing something fairly entertaining, in stead of a truly shallow reality show. When it's cold and snowing outside, there's not much to do in the evening, and this show was an acceptable hour of entertainment. That is unless you like ricer shows or the Pimp-My-Ride shows, or Nas-T-car "racing." Opinions are opinions and everybody's welcome to their own, as long as it's not directed at anyone personally. there is no problem with that. When people read something and don't care to ask for further explanation if the point isn't well understood, then that can lead to problems. thxZ

Bull Run rally
Some people don't watch TV. They do Internet forums for entertainment.

Bull Run rally
Nope, I'm not the person with the most interest, unless I was in the show.

Bull Run rally
Since it wasn't filmed on some perfect beach or movie scene in CA, it looks like more of reality than a "reality show." Maybe somebody can ask Tony ( from the Solstice team) about the drama...

Magnetic racing sheilds
Is there a standard size for the round or oval racing sheild, to go on the door or bonnet? It would be better to stick your vinyl numbers to a magnetic sheild instead of the paint, and have to repaint the car after the numbers pull your paint off. thxZ

Xado motor oil?
It's not a 'snake-oil'.' It isn't an oil additive like Slick50 or the Lucas oil products. It's a product that improves the metal in friction areas in a way that it's like adding metal back into those areas. That allows you to extend the life of your engine or part. It's also approved by a notable car manufacturer.

Xado motor oil?
I have my supply of XADO now, and one tube is already in the oil. I noticed the oil pressure up, but that is because I just changed the oil. I expect the compression numbers to be up as well, until the oil wears in a bit. Hopefully the compression wil stay up and even out between the cylinders, and the rod and rocker arm hammering might stop too. There is about 100 miles on the first tube of Zado, so the next one will go in soon, if the weather stays nice! A couple weeks ago we had a snowstorm with about 6-8 inches of snow, and today I'm sittng here in shorts with my shoes off and the windows open! piece!

Bull Run rally
I think the contestant are picked from the CarDomain.com community. At least there was a contest to pick one from there for the current event, but I didn't see which it was. So I'd conclude that one entered not by sending forms to someplace, but by how blingy or popular you car was on some Internet website. Maybe asking the guy with the Soltice car would tell you how you could enter the event I think an S30 would be the best car for the event, if you got it to run 100% reliably and didn't mind a few scratches or dings from hitting things during the obstacle course challenges. Maybe a spare gas can in the back. thxZ

Still won't run!! I need help..
He still needs to figure out what was wrong to get any engine to start or run. They have schools in central Colorado that teach Engish? To people or cattle?....

Still won't run!! I need help..
I'd guarantee you the problem is something simple, like a loose wire, but finding it isn't. Changing the engine to something that wasn't designed for the car will be even tougher than getting the factory one to run...

what should I use to clean the engine bay?
Get a notepad handy when you do this, because you'll be finding all those 'little things' that will need attention later, like the brake line clamps, gas & brake hard lines, hoses, wire loom tape, etc.

what should I use to clean the engine bay?
Good luck! You'll need some scrub brushes with handles ( like a vegetable brush) and maybe some plastic scouring pads. I got some cheap citrus cleaner at the dollar store that worked well. I have even tried some foaming wheel cleaner with good results (cleans paint & leaves it shiny-looking.) Just don't do it on a nice driveway! Find a gravel area or go to the self-wash place. Spray wax or ArmourAll is nice to use after it's clean.

Still won't run!! I need help..
The best help you can give yourself is to download the "280Z Fuel Injectin Bible." Print it out, get it bound at the copy store, and read the whole thing (in sections) while you're working on the car. Spend time doing your schoolwork first; especially English class. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf The Atlant Z web site also has lots of useful tips: http://atlanticz.ca/index.php/tech-tips.html

replacement console lid
they go for about 50 bux, so I'd spend about 50 bux. Bryan offered to recover mine until it fell to pieces. I think I will cut an MDF frame for temporary use and stick a piece of foam on it, like a mock-up. There just won't be a latch on it. Too bad there is nothing, AFAIK from recent cars that would fit between the seats, or is there?

Nice RC model
I didn't know Zs were 4-wheel drive.... so it's really not a scale model. The body clips really stick out, and it's too bad you can't use something that look like hood safety clips instead. I might get it if it was 2-wheel drive and had a 280Z body

replacement console lid
Wouldit be possible to fashion a lid for the armrest/centee console out of plywood or something? They seem to be about as rare as hen's teeth. It's a 1978 280Z. thxZ

Making a modern power antenna work in an S30
It is, but you'll need to use some non-factory parts, like for the up/down switch.
-
Making a modern power antenna work in an S30
I can see that this kind of wiring works, but you can only have it fully up or down. What if you just want to have the antenna only 1/2 way up, when you drive in the city? thxZ

Electrolytic Rust Removal
Successs on an engine block! I helped a professional Rolls-Royce restorer guy de-rust an engine block using the electrolytic method. We used a big plastic 50-gallon drum for the container, rested the engine block on wood blocks on the bottom, and used 8 rods of rebar around the perimeter as the electrodes. the rods were flattened on the ends with holes drilled for screws for the best electrical connections. 12 ga. stranded wire with eye-connectors were used all-around (there was a big roll handy.) The power was a 20 Amp, 6-volt battery charger; 12 volts didn't look to make any difference. Current was about 17 amps to start, and smoothed out to about 10 Amps at the end. The process took about 20 hours total. There was probably a good inch or so is rusty crud floating on top, which was scooped off with a paper cup and the electrodes were barely affected. The block was finished off with water to flush the cooling passages, and a rinse with some light scrubbing to get the black oxide coating off, and the bare metal was protected with a spray-on waxy coating that resembled furniture polish. The waxy coating will be removed with solvent before painting the block. The cylnder bores were examined before and after the process with NO CHANGES. The diameter was not affected, nor was the cross-hatching from the previous (original) honing. A light honing of the cylinder bores will be done anyway. I think the total cost was about $50 -60 from the quantity of distilled water used, and the rebar rods. the rest was on-hand (plastic drum, wire, battery charger and washing powder.) thxZ

Welcome to the Targa California....
"Some" amazing roads... To have a good targa course, you need to have a complete loop, like the Targa Florio, and keep the interest of the drivers. Also, you need to limit the course to at most 800 - 1000 miles so people don't get bored.

Welcome to the Targa California....
Since California is like a country all to itself, it makes sense to make a circuit of the state. But most or all other states, IFAIK, don't have any visible border like water ( No, Florida isn't an island!) or mountains, or even a river. Ohio ( which is squarish) has a lake one one border, a river on another and nothing on the other two, but does have major routes circumscribing the state. Pennsylvania, with its western mountain range and central farmland, but no major routes, except the turnpikes that go down the middle. I can't think of any other states that has something like california, except Florida, but who really thinks of flat terrain and smoldering swamps as scenic? thxZ
