Bazaar Craigs List add
And don't forget the "luber" if you have a spare one in the garage. Remember, it's on you if it's stolen, but he'll buy it regardless.....as long as you're within 20 miles. Dennis

Scion FR-S and Datsun 240Z - An Owner's Comparison
Do you have some comparison numbers at this point on turbo vs stock, or is it mostly "seat of the pants" evaluation. I imagine a turbo makes it scream. Dennis

If this is the "most stupid forum", please tell me which forum is smartest and has provided the answers to your questions. I'd like to join that forum. I await your answer and will be rudely upset if I don't get it within three days. Dennis

Strange datsun film
It certainly was a different time. I think I still have some of those bell bottoms in my closet, next to the Nehru jacket, just waiting for the style to come back. Dennis

Question about Air & Seal emergency flat repair
Good for flats caused by screws and nails, not so good for sidewall cuts and blowouts. My Infiniti came without a spare - just an electric pump and a bottle of "Shoe-Goo" type flat fixer. Downside on that car is that the flat fixer clogs the tire pressure sensors and requires them to be replaced. Another downside is if the flat can't be fixed, finding a replacement tire of the proper size can be a problem on the road. I bought a spare for that car....peace of mind. Dennis

Nissan Factory / Commemorative 240z on ebay
I think that's a healthy way to look at the Vintage Zs. They are a subtype unto themselves and really shouldn't be compared to restored Zs or low miles "barn find" Zs. Just like a "real" Scarab V8 Z conversion carries a premium price over a homemade V8 conversion, so should the Vintage Z program cars. They aren't stock, they weren't refurbished on an assembly line in Japan. They were a marketing move built to represent, and remind the US market of, the spirit of the original Z, warts and all. The fact that they differ slightly from the originals that rolled off the assembly line a couple decades earlier makes them slightly unique and maybe justifies the premium price to those who value the intangible nature of the product. When offered for sale, the Vintage Zs were a second chance for buyers to own a "new" early Z. Buying an early Z off the showroom floor was a heady experience. I know. Dennis

Purchasing Help! Much appreciated :)
I'm guessing that you've posted the same question on BMW, Toyota, and Mazda forums, too. What kind of feedback are you getting from other sources? Since you realize that any answers will be biased, it comes down to "pay your money and take a chance". Just like marriage, it doesn't have to be a lifelong commitment and you can always move on to something else if your first choice doesn't meet your needs. Also like marriage, learn as much as you can about your choice before committing. Good luck on the decision & search! Dennis

Buying a 240z. input needed?
Never pay the asking price and don't worry too much about the cracked dash. Mine has been cracked for about 35 years and the car is still as fun to drive as when it was new Dennis

Almost a poll? How many of you check the classifieds routinely?
It's been years since I've checked Classifieds. Ebay tends to be my "Go to" used parts source. As for the Hybridz.org method of posting to Classifieds, one MUST be a Donating member of the forum in order to post items for sale. If you don't donate financially, you can look, but not sell. When they changed to that mode, there was quite a bit of complaining a few years ago. Dennis

240z Tail Light Shroud Color
If you get the reproduction chrome trim pieces that cover that area and attach through the holes in the lenses, no worries about the black lines. Your originals are removed. Ebay and MSA are your friends for that task. Dennis

DIY Bumper Guard Strips?
The Quarter Mile test works for me. Plus, if made from old slicks, the trim pieces could be marketed as "Speed Equipment". No downside. My apologies to those who come to this forum looking only for serious advice. Dennis

DIY Bumper Guard Strips?
Bumper trim made of tread cut from used racing slicks would probably look better. Or, even more impressive, snow tires Dennis

That little screw holding the choke lever
Didn't know that MSA had the screw for the handle. I'll be picking one up the next time I stop there. Thanks for the tip. Dennis

That little screw holding the choke lever
If you do, I hope you have tiny fingers and tiny tools. That's a very small set screw. BTW, I need one, too, for the last 32 years. Dennis

Never Released Z Wagon
Nice looking alternative style. I like the flow of the body lines. Sort of the "Shooting Brake" body style that's been around forever and used by Jaguar and Ferrari recently. Dennis

AC Installation cost
Might be a bit high. I had the unit that MSA sells installed with electric fan for about $1,600 a few years ago in SoCal. The unit you're looking at may be more expensive, but installation cost should be about the same for any unit. Dennis

[quote=73str86;461267 Is there a video size limit for these forums? I want to take a good quality video of my current exhaust before I change it a little. If the video is too large, you could load it on YouTube and just post a link to it on this fourm. Dennis

Vinyl instead of carpet?
Vinyl, plastic, rubber flooring is typical of utility vehicles like pick up trucks and your FJ as it's easier to clean/hose the crud and corruption up after work or play. The Z generally doesn't go off roading, intentionally, or carry construction supplies. So, they came with carpet. Have you tried generic rubber mats from WalMart or your FLPS? They could fit over or replace floor carpet. The rear deck carpet replacement will be a little harder to source. Dennis
