A few more. Zap Z plus Scarabs.
  2. Looks like it's been kicking around SoCal for a while: https://www.viczcar.com/forums/topic/13959-mid-engined-240z/ The pictures you posted were taken in Malibu. The wheels are from an Infiniti G35. Give the guy credit for keeping everything Nissan.
  3. This is a very recent article from the Wall Street Journal. I consider the WSJ one of the most unbiased and reliable new organizations. Read the article before commenting. https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/alaska-native-american-energy-lng-natural-gas-pipelines-inupiaq-eskimos-oil-exports-north-slope-federal-land-biden-ukraine-invasion-11646413138 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. We have made a choice to be dependent on Russia and the Middle-East Oil and that dependency has left to untold deaths and war. We have enough oil reserve in Alaska alone to provide for all our oil needs for over 100 years but we’ve made a choice not too. We can do It with environmental controls and strict adherence to rules and regulations. I love the outdoors…I love pristine forests but we can do this. We not ready to transition today….we need at least a decade or more to do it safely and without destroying the middle class and the economy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh, okay, there's the reason for the floor / frame rail difference on the passenger side - to create a channel to better protect the hard lines. (The car I have in the shop is completely stripped - just wheels...) The Bad Dog rails fit perfectly over them though - with reliefs in all the right places for the contour of the floor(s).

I’ve learned alot about frame rails from john @bad dog parts.com. Together He and I designed the driver side frame rail template for the 75-78 280. I created multiple templates and with his help through the Covid era He designed one that fit. I test fitted it on a 1975 and my 1978. He explained at the time that those indeed were lock down points when the cars were on the ship. He has a vast knowledge of these cars and has my respect. Knowledge base on these cars goes a long way with me.

Most likely explanation might be that it has been in an accident in the past. Maybe hit a log while it was on the beach collecting salt.
  8. I really appreciated not having a switch when my clutch slave failed away from home. Start the car in 1st gear, shifting is easy enough doing RPM matching. Shut the car off at a stop, put it in 1st and start the car to get going again.
  9. Back in the day, when the 280z was sold, there was a recall for the injectors due to problems caused by the new ethanol fuel. I don't remember the dates that recall was in effect. My take on the current industry situation, everyone wants a clean environment, clean air, but the push for green stuff is not ready for prime time yet. as Av8ferg has eluded to with his Tesla experience. Maybe in ten or fifteen years technology will be ready, but until that time, you can't destroy the economic engine of this country which is the oil industry. Common sense in my book. I now return to regularly scheduled programming ...
  10. Pretty sure it is for your radio antenna up/down.
  11. I sent those to you Obi-Wan. The Force is strong.
  12. I based the steering wheel design on: https://www.mgexp.com/article/diy-wood-steering-wheel-part-1.329 Its black walnut with bloodwood trim, all treated with cactus juice heat-activated epoxy. I'm still working on the center "coin".
  13. Cliff, that picture is almost X-Rated. [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I drove manuals for decades with no neutral safety switch. I always check the car for neutral before starting with the clutch pedal down or not. You'll only try to start it in gear once, maybe twice... 😉 In other words, I wouldn't try to install one...
  15. Langes and Heads+Scott poles. Made ski patrolling fun. Well, that and skiing free, too. Cheers, Mike
  16. That's an authentic 1969 poster for Lange Ski Boots. 69 was around the time buckle ski boots were introduced; when the snow ski industry really took off. I had a pair of Langes and metal composite skis by Head.
  17. Not just gasoline for cars cars contains farm harvested content, but also jet fuel. A story on the news yesterday showed how plant based cooking oil from airport restaurant deep fryers is being converted to jet fuel.
  18. I've always thought it sort of foolish to take your food source and turn it into fuel, but what do I know...🤪
  19. If the majority of pump gas goes to 15% those of us with old cars are screwed!
  20. I really like my 240's wheel over the 280's. It gives a twitchy feedback which I like. It's like driving on a rail. Those new wheels that are straight on the bottom are interesting. I suppose you'd get more leg room but I steer with my legs a lot. Beer, phone and shifting is a lot to do.
  21. How else do you carry your windsurfing equipment to the beach Bart? Works well on mine!
  22. A gallon of Ethanol contains ~ 75,000 btu’s and Gasoline ~126,000 btu’s. Gasoline has about an 81% production efficiently (energy expenditure to make vs how much it produces). Corn Ethanol has an 51% efficiency. It take 35,000 btu’s to make one gallon of Ethanol. These are the gov’t stats. I paid $4.99 a gal for non-ethanol 93 octane gas for the Z. They’re predicting gas to climb higher this summer.
