  1. Absolutely sure - at least on my car. It is a small flange hex-head sheet metal thread bolt, about 8mm head. These are original to my car. It is not listed in the online parts catalog, so the factory may have switched to rivets at some point, hence the spec for 8.
  2. ^ Nice straight car, hardly any rust, well cared for, could be turned into a real gem.
  3. I agree with the timing set (japanese), manifold studs, freeze plugs, pan gasket. Maybe the oil pressure sender, if it shows any signs of leaking. Also a good time to consider upgrading to a turbo oil pump. It has better flow & pressure, since it had to supply the turbo and oil cooler in the automatic. A minor point, but if you care about factory originality, the oil pan should be black.... looks blue in your picture.
  4. A couple of years ago, I tried to run down the old club as well, and did end up with the name of a mechanic here in Houston. I even spoke with him on the phone, but sorry to say, I have no further information. Good luck with your A/C.
  5. The shifter mechanism is the clue. Compare yours with a 71B transmission.
  6. My car (7/70) uses 8 of the small rivets, the last two go in the circled area below, no threads. Here are my finishers before I removed them.
  7. Jim, are you sure that the center panel uses “hex-head bolts” behind the license plate.? I’ve alway used the same plastic rivets used to secure all of the finisher panels, for a total of eight. Dan
  8. Careful not to break the metal Clips or you will be out $120 for a set of 4 of them!
  9. Good job heyitsrama.....exactly!
  10. That guy is kind of infamous, some real horror stories.
  11. I would avoid that guy! Search Facebook and you'll find he has his own personal hate group...not everyone can say that. 😉
  12. Oh crap, I missed that...I Googled Houston Z Car Club and that was the first result and did not think to dig deeper. Please forgive my error.

  14. Low oil pressure readings are a consistent problem that many Z owners experience. Something like this will give you a clear idea of what your pump is doing, https://www.amazon.com/MEANLIN-MEASURE-0-100Psi-Stainless-Glycerin/dp/B08HRQKW8F/ref=sr_1_12_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=oil+pressure+gauge&qid=1612964155&sr=8-12-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFDMUg5QkYxUjJGTjcmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAzMTUxOTgyRjBHSklGUFU4UEJWJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0MjMxMjlRTDg0NzhUVE1HQjcmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl Replace the oil pressure sensor with gauge just make the the pump is working properly and give yourself some peace of mind. As for a long term solution I just finally replaced the gauge and sender with new aftermarket units.

  16. I had the sinking pedal in my car when I first got it. I remember sitting in the driver's seat pressing the pedal trying to understand where the fluid could be going that the seals were supposed to be pushing in to the lines. The hydraulic seals and the cylinder were designed to hold, with no leakage. "How can this be?" I realized that it couldn't be, the seals must be bad. https://itstillruns.com/test-brake-master-cylinder-5779577.html

  19. Gosh! Sorry to hear that, but at least it proved a point. ;) At present I’m planning on swapping the feed and return lines over at the tank end to prove it’s the pickup that’s my issue. However, when / if I do an elec pump, I am planning to ditch the stock bracket designed for the job and make my own anechoic chamber for it - read, metal “box” with screw on lid, lined with 10mm closed cell foam sound insulation and rubber isolation feet like these ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rubber-Shock-Absorber-Rubber-Vibration-Isolator-Silentblock-Mounts-M6x20x15mm-/383835310627?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 I truly despise noisy fuel pump sounds!!!!
  20. Some sk stack polishing going down.
