- ZCON 2020 Location Confirmed?
4 pointsThanks Mr JFA. I'd like to go to Dollywood next, whups this year, but Nashville or Franklin is a no brainer for me. Hopefully I'll sit on the porch and have cold beverages with my guys. Two Jim's! There needs to be a drink named for those guys. Two fingers is taken, two Jim's isn't. The Jimmie Shimmie? Jim's Wobbly? James's Shame?...4 points- ZCON 2020 Location Confirmed?
3 pointsProbably not the best kept secret but today I spotted a Facebook post on the Middle Tennessee Z Club page. A member was answering a question about Z ATTACK occurring in 2019, this was the answer: "Z ATTACKS were staged at Nissan HQ in Franklin in 2012, 2014 and 2017. We're skipping 2019 so we can help with ZCON in 2020, which will be the 50th anniversary of the Z and will be at Nissan." You heard it here first!3 points- ZCON 2020 Location Confirmed?
2 pointsIt's an amber, did Jim have a thing for red heads?? I mean it's sort of difficult to know. He sort of liked all the women with a pulse. Blonde, brunette, green...2 points- Stainless steel headers, exhausts and JDM twin-pipe mufflers.
Zstory wishes all its past, current and future customers, families and friends a Happy and, above all, healthy 2019 ! I have some disappointing news to annonce – my next batch won’t be available until end-February and I’ve had to postpone production of my new L28ETurbo manifold for flange compatability issues which cost me some delays, not helped by the Christmas and New Year holiday shutdown. I sincerely apologise for this delay of a month and invite anyone, for whom this presents a problem to contact me via PM. Please rest assured that once they arrive, I will do my very best to expediate tham asap. Best regards and once again, my apologies. Sean2 points- Turn out the lights...

I'll have to crawl under the 75 tonight and check. I'll update the second to reflect 77/78. Soon I'll be asking for your address to send a case of beer! -Chris1 point- 1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
1 pointActually I cut them off! I think I have it figured out. The rotors are on the car with the calipers rebuilt and set. Thanks for the offer though!1 point- 75 280Z Garage Sale (with 77/78 parts also)
I noticed that the top picture is from a 75 (possibly even 76?) I'm not exactly sure when they changed the connectors from the smaller size to the larger size connector blocks. The lower picture is for a 77 or 78. 10 pin connector is the give-away for model fitment.1 point- Turn out the lights...
1 pointMy dog thinks he's a movie star, he hides when I try and get a photo. Here's the one that I knew he was for me. Miserable and worried looking one on the right. He's a happy boy now and me too!1 point- 1976 280Z Restoration Project
1 pointWeird how warped and twisty the pattern looks on the old rocker arms. Even besides the pitting. Looks like a whole lot of wrong. Are you reusing the cam shaft? Better check the lobes closely. Check the wipe pattern there also. Nice pictures.1 point- Happy 2019! A lot of 50 year milestones coming up!

1 pointThe reason for the repairs is that I have the Skillard stainless door sills with Datsun cutout. I will have these overlaying the painted sill so the green comes thru! Example below. On a patch of painted shell for example1 point- Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
I guess ill have to test my car again in a big traffic jam with the ac on and see how it behaves before spending more money and throwing more devices in the engine bay. No more spending money on useless stuff.1 point- Happy 2019! A lot of 50 year milestones coming up!
You need to add 10 to whatever number people are usually using, because Mr. K came up with the idea for the Zed in 1959! Or you need to be specific to reference the anniversary of the first American sale.1 point- 1976 280Z Restoration Project
1 pointRepairing the holes left in the door frames by the PO rust proofing. A finish coat of fine strand fibreglass filler will seal these up nice.1 point- 1976 280Z Restoration Project

1 pointSo Jim arrived with goodies in hand yesterday. The shiniest part is the throttle cable wall adapter and throttle pedal ball connector. Custom made by the legend himself. Install was straight forward. It starts with a stepped piece that is threaded that aligns in the firewall for the throttle linkage. After that, the throttle cable is threaded thru and the custom end with the soldered capture ball for the throttle pedal is locked into place in the pedal ball. A few test fits and trims to make sure the pedal stops on the pedal rest and not on the cable end. Alignment was perfect with stock pedal! And a couple shots of the engine bay side. Thanks Jim!1 point- ZCON 2020 Location Confirmed?
1 pointDid that name come from Scottie after Jim tried to over rev the warp drive engines?1 point- Turn out the lights...

His original pics did not show the detail of the door lock position. I supplied pics of a tape measure with the correct position. He measured his car (correct original cards) and then the spare cards (77’s) and they were not the same. Once again, the elusive unicorn door cards elude me.1 point- 1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
1 point@Patcon The clips are made of spring steel. You can tell the good ones from the bad ones by picking on them with your fingernail when they are in place. If they resonate with a high note they are good----low note they are cracked. Cracked ones tend to allow the finisher panel to pooch-out under vibrations. They just don't grip the finisher panel tightly enough. I have a spare set of the finisher clips for you. I need to get over to the storage building and dig them out. I'll send them once I find them.1 point- Electrical Fuel Pump Pressure Problems
I've included 2 views of the 75-78 gas tank pick up tube filter. You're cruising home on I-5 in your restored 78 280. You've got about a 1/4 tank of fuel. For the first time in weeks traffic isn't too bad. You enter the exit ramp, heel and toe from 5th to 4th and then from 4th to 3rd all while turning hard to the right. What does this have to do with the construction of your gas tank? At the bottom of your gas tank is a large basin and at the center of the bottom of the basin is the pick up tube. The bottom of the basin, in the middle of the radius where the shape changes from horizontal to vertical, are wide slots. With less than a full tank there has to be a way to contain fuel near the pick up tube during hard turns. Without a system like this the fuel would slosh away from the pick up tube and your 78 would stall. 70-74s don't need and therefore don't have the basin system as the carbs each have their own little gas tank called float bowls. You go into a turn, the fuel sloshes away from the pick up tube but you don't stall because the quantity of fuel in the float bowls is adequate to sustain life.1 point- Turn out the lights...

1 pointOther than primer of your choice, I use a process developed by one of our forum members: Duplicolor BFM0360 FORD DARK SHADOW GRAY, topped by Duplicolor HWP106 WHEEL MATTE CLEARCOAT. Here's a closeup pic of a grill I've done to show the color.1 point- 1976 280Z Restoration Project
1 pointI've used many cans of propane with a soldering torch to help remove that glue like undercoat. Just a little heat goes a long way to softening it and making it easy to scrap off with a flat blade putty knife. Then a final wash with Acetone or paint thinner to wash off the residue. Nothing like slabs of hot goo falling on your head while scraping it off the bottom.....1 point- Captain Obvious is a Genius!
