  1. I think the Hand throttle was deleted from the 240z model before the automatic was introduced. So that would be a no it wasn't installed on automatics. But I could be wrong i guess.
  2. You ever get my cars details? They are in my gallery. I think you asked me for them. 240Z 2/72 HS30 10527 L24 077313 (Still has original engine) Manual Original Paint Colour: Metalic Silver Black Interior. I also have a 260 2+2 that i will add details for. *Wait for edit*
  3. You can get them in Australia cant you? We got the Mk2 with Flares, and Mags. They Look good on RA28 Celicas too.
  4. And all 240z had MPH speedos. but you already know that I'm sure.
  5. Not much info here either, but at least they mention it. http://www.zcsd.org http://www.zcsd.org/tech-articles/power-quest1.html
  6. Here's the link i think you mean http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/z.html No mention of N33 heads there though.
  7. WHOOO HOOO!! Congratulations Hayden. Cant wait to see some photos.
  8. Heres a better rally car picture
  9. Photos have finally been cleared and are viewable. Going to upload some more. I took photos of every car that was there, so it you spot one you want a closer look at let me know and i'll upload it.
  10. I've seen Simons old website. I also have the Issue of Zoom magazine that his car appeared in (Number 44 if you want to back order a copy). Apart from bucket loads of chrome in the engin bay, he also smoothed out all the bumps, and routed electrical and fuel and brake lines inder the guards. If you look at the brake master cylinder you notice the pipes come straight down throught 2 holes drilled in the inner fender (throught grommets of course).
  11. Now before you go getting all "worst case scenario" pull the head off and have a look at it. If you have to replace the head gasket, you may as well do the valve stem seals at while you have the head off.
  12. I happend to notice there was an '83 Nissan President for sale in WA. Anybody want a Nissan 4.4 litre V8 in their Z? http://www.quokka-online.com/ Though for the price they are asking you could almost get a RB26DETT.
  13. Firstly you would have to get the compression back up, as turbo engines generally have lower compression than non turbo motors. More importantly the type of head on the engine rather than the block would be usefull information. Seriously. Get a turbo. :stupid: Have you been for a drive in a turbo 6? You'll the power compared to a NA 6. Z car garage has some info on turbo L28 engines and all the various z heads. http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/heads.html
  14. Well they weren't designed to be driven sideways into Telegraph poles. Gotta hope that was a left hand drive car. Maybe the driver was distracted by the Fluffy Dice that used to hang from the rear view mirror.
  15. I went to the WA Datsun 240Z & 260Z Register Show Day today. The WA Z guys were pleased by the turn out from what I hear, and you couldnt have asked for better weather. There were about 20 240/260z's there (mostly 260z's), and 7 fairlady roadsters. Met a few guys from this site also. I'm Uploading some photos to my gallery.
  16. You are my hero! You and Auxilary. Why wasn't black a standard colour on the 240z. THey look so good black.
  17. Looks like an overweight RX4.
  18. Yep very un-cool.
  19. All datsuns are pretty cool...... .....maybe not the big ugly ones (eg 280c).
  20. Hey Alfa. Though i'd make you jealous by telling you about a friend of mine who used to own a Skyline 2000 GT (82 i think). 2 litre L series 6 cylinder. Big TURBO lettering on the cylinder head. Turbo. Digital Dash. Painted White of course. Was a very fun car to go riding in. You found a manual box yet? Craig
  21. ....another word for coupe. Marketing people invent these terms (like fastback) to sell cars.
  22. Technically if it's got a hatch it's not a coupe. The Definition of Coupe is a 2 door car. (no mention of a hatch) generally with a fixed rear window (not as part of the boot hatch). Usually a 2 door version of a 4 dorr desan. All Z/ZX were 2 door hatch cars (sometimes called 3 doors which is just silly) except the convertibles. They didnt make ZX coupes. (toyota made celica hatches and coupes by the way). They did make 2 and 4 seater versions however. People just tend to call cars with 2 doors coupes, even if they have a hatch, and especially if they are sporty.
  23. I thnk they all did. My 72 has a light. I left my lid in the back of the car on a hot day and it melted. :disappoin  So i'm gonna have to heat it up and melt it flat again or find another one.
  24. If its a turbo motor with turbo head and pistons and no turbo i imagine it's not very quick. You should stick a turbo, efi and computer back on it. Maybe the turbo died and he couldnt afford to rebuild it. Do a compression test and see how much compression its making. Carburetted L28's had flat top pistons, didnt they? and turbos had dished pistons to reduce compression.
