  1. The 350z is 2 wheel drive, at the rear. There is no 4wd 350z and no plans for one i would imagine. Thats what the GTR is for. Though a 350GTZ would be cool. 4wd, twin turbos. Na it will never happen, not from the factory at least.
  2. Craig, Alan The Fairlady 280z(x?) in question is a japanese domestic market s130 type car. It wont have an australian compliance plate (initially there was no need for them to comply with aussie design rules, but the government made them change the seatbelts to inertia reel types, and put side intrusion bars in the doors), but may (should) have a nissan/datsun vin plate with the chassis number and engine number on it. Externally you can pick the difference by the badges. Aussie ones were nissan 280zx badges, imports were fairlady 280z(x not sure if they had the x). We got a lot of japanese domestic market second hand imports in the 80's here in WA (not sure about the rest of australia). I know a guy with a Fairlady Z 2+2 1978 (S31 260z/280z body shape) and it has electric mirrors as standard, so that earlier commet about only 280zx's having electric mirrors is incorrect. It has a efi L20, but was replaces with a L28E. I friend of mine also used to have a 1979/80 Skyline 2000GT (the one with the L20ET in it), white of course. My mum has a corona ex coupe, even rarer than a 240z in perth. I've only ever seen about 5 of them in 12 years. She almost bought a Skyline R30 coupe instead, but got the corona because it was an auto and the skyline was a manual. Pity, I'd have liked to have bought the skyline off of her when she got a n MX6 last year, if only shed bought it in the first place. (photos of the corona in my gallery) Craig I'll drop by that house on the weekend and see if he wants to give you the S130 bodyshell if you still want it. Mr C.
  3. How many polygons are you after Mike. I have one that I used to make the animation in my avatar. I was planning on making a high polygon model, but working and building my real 240z dont leave too much time for building a virtual 240z. At least now i have a the real one to take measurements off.
  4. Probably 1-5-3-6-2-4 same as the L24 and L26 Dizzy rotates anti clockwise (as viewed from above). Number one on the dizzy should be the one closest to the front of the car accordig to my haynes manual.
  5. Umm. its just the chassis. No pannels, except those that form part of the chassis, like the rear guards. Ready to pull all your bits off yours and put it on the new chassis. If its the same one i saw in mullaloo its straight.
  6. Probably a dumb suggestion, but are you sure you got your plug leads back on correctly? If youve mixed up 2 and 3 that would explain why neither are firing.
  7. Drove past it again last night on the way home from work. Its been almost totaly stripped from what i can see. No suspension, no wheels, so moving it might be a bit of a problem.
  8. Here is a pic of the blue one
  9. I almost bought a 280zx in bits a couple of months ago for the L28 engine. But decided not to. The owner was asking $500. On the weekend I was crusing around my suburb and spotted what i think was the same car outside a house. Its just the chassis, no bonnet, etc. I Could drop in for you and see if the owner wants to sell it. I figure they probably bought it for parts if it's the same car, as it was incomplete.
  10. Zep How much does it cost to ship a car over to NZ from Australia? I know a guy here in perth with 2 240z for sale. One for $4500 an automatic, licenced and running. and another one licenced in queensland (but the cars now in perth), Running, manual, metallic blue, $3500. Both in good condition both in one piece.
  11. I had a look under my 260z and the bar looks the same as the 280z in the photo. Why wont it fit? The bar runs just in front of the diff mount.
  12. Your last oil probaly had a bottle of no smoke stuff added to it to hide the engine wear problem thats causeing it to smoke in the first place.
  13. Does it look like this?
  14. Advantages are: Not having to find a 5 speed box and part with the cash to buy it. Not having to crawl around under the car to remove the old 4 speed and fit the five speed. Disadvantages: Not having the high gear for cruising at high speed but with lower engine revs. Might even save some petrol. Having the sporty state of mind when flooring it through all 5 gears.... priceless.
  15. 2 sets of watanbes on aussie ebay. Not cheap though. I prefer the 70's 5 slot "jellybean" mags. http://search.ebay.com.au/ws/search/SaleSearch?satitle=260z&salocatedincountry=15&ht=1&sosortproperty=1&from=R10&BasicSearch=

    26 bucks for a 240z bonnet.....bargain.
  17. Really? My 260z 2+2 parts car has round top carbies. (diifferent to my 240z round tops, but definately not flat tops). Its a '75. Think maybe only the US got flat tops to meet emmission laws. Any aussies with 260z's have flat tops, and what year is your 260z? Lets work this out once and for all.
  18. So you are both saying the same thing then. Doesnt freeze here in australia too often, what about anti-boil?
  19. Heres a pic.
  20. I've painted metallic finished also. I'm sure i could walk up to a freshly painted panel shop car and find faults too. Then thers the stuff you dont see. Like the masses of bog. And painting over cars that have already stared to rust from being left as bare metal for too long. If you cant paint a car fine. Just dont tell me i cant do a good job. It was better tha the finish you find on all new cars. Its not difficult to get it perfect if you take your time preparing the car. Most people (pannels shops included) dont take the time. Time is money, and the quicker they can get cars painted and out the door the more money thay can make. If you want a really good paint job you can pay a paint shop thousands of dollars to do it, or you can do it yourself for the cost of the paint. F@#% acceptable. I wanted it perfect so i did it myself.
  21. I've painted more than 3 cars with no help or advice from anyone The first being my old 240z 10 years ago and the paint job was awesome. Its not really that hard.
  22. The paint shop I get my paint from can put the paint in a spray can. They have a machine to do it. Its the same paint they you would use in a spray gun, ony in a spray can. I use one of those electric compressor spray guns. Like a vacuum cleaner, only it blows instead of sucks. I get good results using acrylic paint. You have to sand it when its dry though, to get the smooth mirror finish. then buff it to bring the shine back.

I dont read japanese, but they have prices on the site which you can convert to your currency using any converter tool on the web. This is thier race car: IMG]http://s-garage.hp.infoseek.co.jp/s30-2.jpg A thread about them. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5872[
