  1. Nope it's metallic blue, with a bonnet thats covered in yellow spray putty. On the "heading south" side of the freeway just north of the karrinyup exit. Its on the north beach road entry.
  2. Anyone know who owns the 240/260(2 seater) thats been left on the side of the freeway. I saw it from the train today on the way in to work. If you dont want it anymore I'll have it:classic:
  3. Was advertised in the quokka (not online).
  4. Howdy People. Bought another z on the weekend. A 260z 2+2 for parts. It has better fenders than my 240z. So now I have a spare set of mags, spare engine, spare diff, etc etc... The gearbox will go in my 240 to replace the 240K box. A speedo in Kph. Will post a few pictures when I get the car back to my place next weekend.
  5. I had a similar idea but have been too busy to progress any futher than this: http://www.z-specs.s5.com/
  6. try that: www.wazcars.com Nothing to see there though. Judging by the speed the site takes to do anything i'd say its running off somebodys home pc via a dsl connection. very unprofessional. also its an asp site.
  7. The image he posted was: right click on broken link > properties> look at the url and take out the extra http:// cant really see much in the photo though this is a better pic doesnt look dangerous at all. other pics of the car are at http://www.originalautobuyers.com/361/<01 to 20>.jpg ie 01.jpg to 20.jpg.
  8. You can get any part for a z on ebay if you wait long enough and check often enough. You could build a z from the ground up piece by piece.
  9. No Your rings sound fine. Smoking on deceletation is a sign of worn out valve stem seals. You are sucking oil alright, but down the valve stems into the combustion chamber. I wouldnt worry too much about it, unless it a problem for the authorities in your area. You'd have to take the head off to put new seals on the stems i believe, so if you do that, make sure you reseat the valves with some vavle grinding paste, and one of those valve lapping tools that looks like a mini plunger. Valve stem seals have nothing to do with compression, they just stop oil from being sucked down the valve stems, the same way the rear main crank seal stops oil dripping out the back of your engine. Maybe it was smoking a bit before and you didnt notice it. I've heard that most cars will smoke a bit if they've been driven like your grandma would drive it for years, they you hop in and give it a bit, even newer cars. But thats only what i've heard. I have no idea what a bleed down test with compressed air is. Also over rich mixture may cause engine smoking. I should compression test my engine.
  10. If you are worried about breaking your spare windshield, Take a sharp knife (be carefull) and cut the seal out around the window. The rubber seals harden over time, making it more difficult to get the window out. Buy a new seal for the car you are putting it in. and there is a trick with string involved in fitting it back into the car.
  11. Aussie pesos i think the yanks call them.
  12. Differances In a nutshell: Early Zeds 1970 to 1971?: generally reffered to as series 1 People say they are Lighter beacuse they were made from thinner metal I believe, or no rust proofing/underbody goo. No metal storage bins behind the seats, they were plastic things (i've never seen the them so someone else can describe them). cosmetically different badges on the rear quarter panne (240Z badge)l, vents in the hatch. different steering wheel (no holes) and center console. Non reclining seats. Later Zeds 72 to 73 center console with ashtray rear of the gear stick, Round quarter pannel badges that read Z. No vents in hatch, vents covered by the Z badge. Reclining seats, holes in the steering wheel. 73's had illuminated ventilation controlls. All parts are interchangeable for 240z models i believe.
  13. You cant do a compression test by cranking the engine over by hand if you expect to get any meaningfull readings, unless you are superman and can crank the engine over at 500rpm.
  14. Valve stem seals wouldnt affect compression readings at all, unless they were really worn and letting a lot of oil into the combustion chamber, in which case they would actually increase compression readings, unless your rings are really worn. If your car is blowing alot of white smoke and you have good compression on all cylinders, then it's probably worn valve stem seals letting oil into the combustion chamber causing the smoke. If you have poor compression and smoke then its probably worn rings (and mayby valve stem seals also). If you have poor compression and no smoke then its worn valve seats (which are differerant to the valve stem seals, which are oil seals to stop oil dripping down the valve stem into the combustion chamber). A Valve seats is where the valve sits s against the head to trap in the compression. If you squire oil into a cylinder then re-compression test it you should get a better reading unless you have worn valve seats, or I think broken rings. I'm no expert so someone tell me if i've got it wrong, I wont be offended. I need to rebuild my engine or head beacuse its smoking heaps just on idle.
  15. Is that the same one that was in the magazine scans that's been posted before? I wonder how the 4wd system copes with the wheelbase of a 240z compared to a GTR is it different, or does this car only drive in straight lines 1/4 mile at a time?
  16. Yep thats the right answer. I've had mine in pieces, stripped it and repainted it. Now I just have to put it back together.
  17. Benefits: Greater fuel economy, easy tune-ability, and decreased horsepower and engine response.
  18. Heres a small pic i got from the site and blew it up to a larger size. It's just an artist impression from spy sources. www.wheelsmag.com.au
  19. Yeah and if you want a convertable get a roadster not an MG.
  20. Have a look at page 10 of the new Wheels magazine and tell me that GTR concept looks more like a 240z than the 350z does. You know i'm right. the GTR has the side window profile more like the 240.
  21. Cool, but kinda ugly. Saw broken down one by the side of the road a few weeks ago, almost stopped and left a note on the window offering to buy it......almost.
  22. p.s. Its's also held together in some places with rivets.
  23. The HP rating on the id plate is SAE horsepower, I cant remember how its different from BHP (brake Horsepower) but it is definately the HP rating at the flywheel, not the rear wheel HP rating. Anyway who uses horses anymore, it's the 21st century, use Kilowatts.
  24. Another question: What part of your zed is made of steel, aluminium, and held together with stainless steel bolts?
