I removed the entire bushing on my 280 and the poly bushing flopped around in there. It was designed for the sleeve to stay in tact

Ease a 1.25 in there and feel it out.

I’m up, most I’ve seen is 1.25. But of course I might be wrong!!!😂

Maybe something to do with the assembly process. Doesn’t make any sense. Not durable at all. Almost a shield to protect.

Thanks Jim, trying to pull out of this food debacle from the ball field. Be careful with that spring compressor. I know you’ve done this many times as I have but it’s just as scary as the first time you tried it!! thanks, Jim

NAPA may have them in their Echlin ignition brand. Could get it overnight.

It’s a step by step process with the FSM or EFI bible that @Zed Headhas mentioned. You will probably find one or more connections faulty. Check each one and record your findings. Jumping to conclusions will put you in a tail spin.

Put it on TDC before you touch anything.

Your best bet is to have one made for you from MSA or a drive shaft shop. The replacement units come with spicer ujoints that are replaceable if needed in the future. Going to cost around $300 to $400 dollars.
