  1. I will double and triple check during the drilling procedure and ensure they line up properly. The borescope idea is cool, though I am not expecting 100% perfection....more like 97%...!
  2. Some small progress to report. I have completed the porting of the EFI intake manifold and runners and will move on to the drilling and tapping of the E88 cylinder head. A little nerve wracking but I have confidence my lack of skill and experience coupled with bold determination will shield me (and my cyl. head) from any harm.... New shiny parts are on their way too... more to report soon!

  6. This section has no aftermarket parts available. You will need to fabricate the section between the front rail and floor pan rails.
  7. What’s your VIN? Mine is a 76 with a 9/75 production date. HLS30-271295 You can also order a new door plate for your car from Zeddsaver in Canada too.
  8. You have the correct door latches for a 75-76 280Z the distance from your door edge to the door lock pull looks to be the correct 14cm meaning early 280Z. The doors and a few other things changed in August 76. It’s quite possible someone bolted on different rubber bumper covers on the original bumpers for some reason.

  13. I'm not that clever... if that was done by anyone, it would have been @zKars.
  14. Another side project... I managed to get the rear hatch opening mech drilled in preparation for the remote trunk release mod. This is hardened steel and is much harder to drill than you would think. I broke several bits and even my cobalt bits wouldn’t touch it till I heated it up to remove the hardening. Now I will countersink it a bit for the pull wire to sit in. More to come later!

  16. It took me 30 years, but I was fortunate enough to purchase a home with triple front garages and a rear 24x24 shop. Having a separate shop is key to a long term restoration, as nothing in that shop escapes the dust and mess accompanying the restoration process. I would never want to work on a car like this in a shared parking space! I know, it is the case for many without options, but I waited an additional year after buying my project car to find a house that would accommodate a happy wife as well as a happy car nut.... Also, hang thick poly from the ceiling to create a separate work space to contain some of the mess. I used 6 mil vapour barrier. Good luck!
  17. Run power all over the place and consider adding ventilation fans from outside air into the shop, and from the shop to outside. And industrial shelving.... lots of it...
  18. Most of the angle style magnets have a strong magnet between two pieces of metal. The magnetic field represents a horseshoe shape (if you have ever stuck it on a pile of filings...) between the two sides of the magnet (north and south poles). The welder creates a path from the wire (positive) to the ground clamp. If the magnetic clamp is IN THE PATH of the welding circuit, the magnetic field of the clamp will repulse the flow of electrons from the weld contact point. Most of the time, moving the magnetic clamp or the ground clamp will alleviate the issue.

    They are legit, just don’t have a real good sales site or contact representative. My friend met them at Monterey this year and they were selling like hot cakes. They are making multiple products and trying to keep up with demand from what I understand. Patience and I’m sure they will come through with your order if it is already placed.

  23. Anything you do yourself is going to have so much more "value" in the pride of ownership that small defects like yours are part of its "beauty marks" as they say. Love it. Hope mine looks half as good when I'm done!
  24. As mine will be a fair weather queen, I sprayed the body colour and clearcoat in the wheel wells, mainly for show....
