  1. The new Nissan sending unit I put in my 240 is 5 gallons sitting on empty. I was in such a hurry to get away from the fuel tank and all the mess involved I forgot to compare it to the original and bend the rod to match. Oh well...5 gallon reserve when it hits empty.
  2. Prove him wrong. Still waiting on the coolant temperature, thermostat open idling in you garage.
  3. My OE fuel pump had that pinkish looking stuff on the 2 electrical connections.
  4. Look through these photos of the 355 mile 280 on Bring a Trailer. @Zed Head taught me the car is great for reference. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-39/
  5. From what I remember the pins are made so close to the inside of the float bowls that there wasn't any side play. Is that what you're talking about?
  6. I put my carbs on after a rebuild but had the linkage "flats" out of order. It shot up to 2500rpm, scared me. Once I got those figured out after looking at a lot of pictures and diagrams I used Blues Quick and Dirty tune for the initial run in then more specific with the air flow tool. Hopefully you get something useful out of this.
  7. Another possibility. The TPS vane contacts will stick sometimes. Pull the cover off and have a look. Look for spider webs and moisture like he may have pressure washed the engine bay recently. Here's a good read that explains the way it works. https://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tps/index.html Something else to check for basic fuel pressure, the hose coming out of the fuel filter up front going to the fuel rail should be really hard to pinch if it has good pressure. Kind of sounds like it's loosing fuel pressure under load???
  8. Saw this picture a few months ago and realized something I've never thought about, I'm close to 60 years old too. Read about it and found out it is just a coincidence. Before the 33 1/3 came out 78s were just called records like acoustic guitars were guitars before electric ones came out. There's a word for that, I can't think of it now though. Retronym is what they're called.
  9. I put a newer self adjusting clutch slave on my '72. That was 2015, so far so good...no problems. I think it was a Beck/Arnley like this one. You can use your old rod for the hole in the fork. https://www.autozone.com/p/beck-arnley-clutch-slave-cylinder-072-1191/502681?searchText=clutch%20slave%20cylinder
  10. Those people won't know about Datsun cars. They won't be able to steal them either. But I'm just as ignorant about EV cars.
  11. BreakOutAnotherThousand
  12. I did this cheap upgrade and am happy with the results in both my cars. 10 years or so and still hold firm and tight, no slope which I prefer. https://web.archive.org/web/20160304002731/http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/shifterbushing/index.html Let me add to this. I don't daily drive these cars and once it's in gear I do not hold the shifter. My Dad broke me of that at an early age. A bunch of keys hanging on the ignition switch would send him into a fit. I miss that old man.
  13. Sand the ridges of the cross with super fine paper and clear coat. That'll give you some shine to match the bumpers while still having that matte aluminum look. Those look great! Kind of like this...
  14. I'm trying to learn. What does this stand for/mean? Thank you, I'm not ignorant just slow. How does Iki switch on some light fit together?
  15. I turned my '72 3 screw carbs into earlier 4 screw by using two short eared lids, rears I believe. It's confusing trying to explain so don't read too much into it. These two post helped me the most.
  16. They/we/me call them banjo bolt filters. If I remember right the ztherapy SU video says not to use them because of what you are going through. They didn't come with the rebuild kit I bought.
  17. Is that when you started having problems or were your problems the start for these changes? Which came first, the problems or the cam and new ignition? Why did you change cams and who did the work? The Porsche mechanic? Why the new ignition and who did that work? There's no rhyme or reason for the work you paid the "trial by error mechanics". I think you are doing trial by error, lack of research and not using the information that's been provided to you.
  18. Don't forget the build sheet from California Datsun. @Yarb needs to know all this before he can help you overseas.
  19. See if it'll go up a steep incline. Are there any mountains in the Carolinas? Mine ran out the bowls going up Cheaha Mountain that's when I knew the levels weren't high enough. FYI, a 2.5 gallon jug fits perfect in front of the radiator on the passenger's side.
  20. Really like this one...
  21. Who's going to open the engine? The Camaro expert hiding in the bushes?
  22. Or electric fans coming on?
  23. You can delete topics within 24 hours I think? Look for the 3 dots, upper right hand corner and then click HIDE or DELETE not sure which one.
