  1. I agree with the others. If the buyer won't supply the deposit through PayPal then I would move on. PayPal protects both parties and documents the transaction really well. If he doesn't know how to use PayPal he needs to ask a friend or a Gen X'er for help...
  2. I have tried ABS glue on other brand interior parts and MEK as well as melting SS mesh into the part from the back. All with mixed results. If the part has to deal with a lot of stress I have found they don't usually hold. If the repair is more cosmetic then it tends to work really good
  3. Way too many projects!!! The 510 probably won't get this treatment at least for a while. I really want to get it running so Cody can enjoy it. If he wants to take it off the road for a while later and do it "nuts and bolts" we can, but even if you do it really fast, it takes a year of weekends and nights. I'm 7 years in and just put the first part back onto the car yesterday There are 2 - 66 Thunderbirds in the yard that were gonna be a project. Sold the fastback when my older son lost interest. Another 71 Z to be done if it doesn't rust apart first and a 56 VW bug that is next on the "nuts and bolts" list It is amazing how fast the shop fills up when you disassemble a car. They basically double in size maybe more. In some of these earlier pictures, we have the fastback and the Z torn all the way down. There is also a 56 bug tucked into the other corner of the shop that is out of frame, bead blasting cabinet, tool boxes, welder, plasma cutter, engine hoist. Get's full quick. The shop is about 26' x 27' inside dimensions and has a structural concrete floor above it. So I also have a beam trollie if I want to use it to move things around... There is also more storage. The wall of shelves is not all of the parts the Blue or Tourquoise Z in the driveway was "the shark" from my signature line. I traded it plus some cash to get the Datsun 510 for Cody. We had it running off and on. I had replaced one floor board but it still had a lot of rust. It had rust in weird places too. I am not sure I would have really known what to do with it. Significant rust in the windshield pillars, door jambs and stuff. Hadn't seen that before Land is great. Those young'uns aren't so young any more but they still help me on the cars. The blond chipping the sound mat out is almost 16 now and getting his license. He has the 510 Wagon we're trying to get back on the road. We're getting close...I have considered doing a build thread for that but not sure the reception I would get considering the forum never really got expanded to some other Datsun vehicles. I figured some of the work we have been doing would be applicable to all Datsun cars. We just deconstructed and repaired his hood then reassembled it
  4. Shot the interior with Lizard Skin insulator then sound deadener. Then shot the bottom with undercoater

  6. Even on this car Arizona or Nevada there was rust in the wheel wells. These patches came from Tabco panels too this car has had affront end collision. I should have replace the nose but I didn't have the skills at the time the radiator support has been replaced to a later style radiator support
  7. Lights hung around the outside of the booth. Six vertical lights around Patched the floor rust with a piece from one of Charlie's excellent floor boards there was a big crease through the drivers side wheel well. I couldn't remove it so I made some patches from a Tabco panel... this was June of 2013..
  8. 2013 the booth is up .4 mil poly and a few 2x4's all media blasted. You can see the internal frame coating that dripped out before I primed the car... Built a box in the corner to hold a filter so the fan exhaust was screened...

  11. I have been remotivated by Wheee! and siteunseen and others build threads. So I have decided to get serious about getting this car running and finished. So to keep up with the Jones or the Jones'n in Cliffs case I decided to start a build thread to sort of bring everyone up to speed on where I'm at... Bought the car from a guy in Charlotte that had it shipped from out West. He is registered here but really spends more time at Hybrid Z That was late 2008 or early 2009...   12. I will take a chance here but as a disclaimer I may be wrong. With a bill of sale there must be "consideration" ie money for a legitimate contract, so I think you are ok to do that. The bill of sale should be meaningless with out the funds. No car or title until the funds clear the bank. I would probably send that in an email to be clear and provide documentation. You need to contact a reliable source to be sure I'm right. Local used car dealer possibly...you're too far out of my part of the world for me to help you more than that.
  13. I would love to make it, but it's not looking good. Funds are short and work may be crazy about that time frame.
  14. A little PB blaster and bigger vise grips. the needle nose vise grips flex too much to really grip tightly
  15. The "special washers" are what they call the oddly shaped plates. The bolts and lock washers are standard hardware
  16. A lot of times the slop in the handle is the little small bushings in the shifter. They disintegrate, they can be replaced with brass ones and that takes out a lot of the slop...and they're cheap

  18. Mathew Do you have a straight die grinder? You need one with a 4" grinder wheel. You also need a right angle grinder and get a 2" Rolock head. Some 2" Roloc pads in 36 grit will help you straighten the lines. they cut really fast. You could also get a body saw but not really a necessity, sort of expensive but would work in this application really well. Also I don't use files for anything! I'm old and don't have time to waste...

  20. They look great. That's a pretty significant noise reduction. Heated seats, almost a requirement at this point, makes my back less temperamental. Love the stitching on the seats...
  21. There is really no trick to bending other than not kinking them. Route them where they don't rub anything. The hardest part is really threading the connectors together again
  22. Why would you put money into a tranny swap if your gonna pull it all in a year? Just asking...these engines aren't afraid of RPM's for extended periods...
  23. Do you have a volt meter so you can do some testing? If not, charge it up with a good battery charger. Get it started and take it to Advance Auto or Oreilly's and have them check it to see if it's charging...

  25. From what you see on Ebay the manifold is worth their asking price...
