  2. I'm coming in late here, but this looks like a $100,000 restoration project. When you start calling composite companies, well uh..... what can I say?
  3. I washed everything well, then used a rust-killing primer. Then I put on satin black rustoleum with a BRUSH. This should work for a very long time. I think taking it all down to metal is going overboard, but it's your car. If I was restoring a car to win the Gold Medalian, sure maybe; otherwise what's the point?

  5. I would not say significantly higher, but at least noticeably higher in the rear from the sag it had. My wife stated she could see a difference while following me. Don't worry, your Z will not look like a 4x4.
  6. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!
  7. I'm riding on my new stock springs, they're great!!! I ordered a set of the Euro springs too.
  8. What rice rocket? Hope you don't mean a Z. It's a real Japanese GT!!!
  9. Only the 73 model was had the bracketry installed. The earlier models had nothing, except the holes in the rear control arms.
  10. Take a look at the shifter boot, I can't believe that thing is still intact. Damn amazing.
  11. Merry Christmas To All Of You Too.
  12. I'll bet that car has more problems than appears to be in the photos. Of course maybe this is the new lowest mileage 240Z, my or my what will a certain person do?
  13. You took the damn thing home didn't you? You didn't just leave it there for the vultures to circle overhead did you?

I think I saw this one on "Pimp My Ride".
  15. I owned one of those once. It got totaled when a drunk driver hit it. And don't forget one thing, it was a DATSUN!!!!
  16. Doesn't enlarging the ducts, lower the velocity?
  17. Can you get a 2-1/4" exhaust system in stock form? I've read that 2-1/4" is the optimal exhaust diameter for a stock Z.
  18. I just installed a new K&N filter, and I think my car run a bit better now. SU's are certainly not winter carbs, but I think it's running noticeably better then before.
  19. Yes, in the beginning the manuals were separate.
  20. You're going to have to be more specific than that. Are you concerned about the initial bidding price or what?
  21. The condition/configuration of the car, when you get, may also have an effect.
  22. Forged wheels, probably twice the cost I'll bet.
  23. Hey, change the two hoses and firewall grommets while you're doing this. Don't do this job twice. Sometimes the screws holding the valve in place are rusted from leaking antifreeze. Check this out before you loosen the hoseclamps.

After 1971, Datsun moved the ashtray and had to make a whimpy choke mechanism that everyone is having problems with; I mean a real POS. The 1970 and 1971 choke mechanism is beefy as hell and almost never breaks. In 1972 and after, they moved the choke knob to the side of the console, causing it to crack the console all the time. Install lots of steel and epoxy to fix it. Make those choke knobs out of aluminum, no kidding.
  25. Look at the frame rails. They are long on the 280Z. The 280Z bumpers are completely different.
