To add to Jackboxxx, I've spoken with paint shop and they don't like chemical stripper mainly because it's messy and they don't have full control over where it goes. Now the dry stripper that he mentioned is probably a product to overcome the problem of gooey stripper/paint residue. I'm letting the paint shop strip mine.

My car is at the stage where the rust repair is complete, about $3000. That included welding in half rear quarter panel and dog leg plus wheel-well repair; dog-leg on other side, small 4"x4" floor patch and two new Nissan front fenders. Oh yeah, the rear hatch sill and underneath it. Now, to complete the real body shop job, will consist of removing body hardware, removing headlight buckets and fenders, strip all paint off the car, repair/replace any old bodywork, then the standard priming/sanding/painting of my original color except in base coat - clear coat. Oh forgot to add, removal and installation of windshield and hatch glass. Total estimate = $4800. thus $7800 total invested in body, for very nice paint job with Glasurit paint. The painter owns a 280Z and has painted many Zs.

My Bridgestone HP-41's are 13 years old, and are not dry-rotted.

The ES100 wear like crazy according to my sources. Great performing tire that's good for 30K miles. That's why I'm not considering those any longer.

Arne, I don't know what to do with you. Just give me an opinion please. They both serve the same purpose, and are the same class of tires.

Carl Beck has been looking into this issue with the Euro struts that we recently had made and are sold through Courtesy. If you sits up real high you could put some wide Cragars under there with slicks.

I discovered it's the relay. There's a soldered contact in there that melts causing a loose connection, and intermittent operation. I took it apart, drilled out the soldered rivet and replaced it with a brass screw and nut. No more blower problems. :devious:

MSA isn't selling the Panasport gunmetal with polished lip anymore. So I'm going with Konig Rewinds (gunmetal with polished lip and inner ring). They fit my budget better and I've been assured of their quality. Bridgestone or Kuhmo tires.

True, but only on one side. The other will use a 280 bushing. Can't remember which though.

BTW Arne, there was a beautiful 240Z in your color at our local club show two weeks ago. I've always like that color too. Can't remember if it was a 70 or 71.

I'm 46, I just overhauled my entire suspension recently. I used KYB's GR-2 & bump-stops, new stock springs, urethane bushings in many (but not all) places, Suspension Techniques sway-bar kit, my drivers seat is completely rebuilt. The ride is plenty stiff for me. It will be fine. Too many people think the OEM design was like a Cadi, so they go with stiff as a brick components. Another thing, if you build a car with track-like suspension and drive that car on a normal road, you are subjecting it to vibration and shock it was never designed for. It's 35 years old now; tracks are smooth and perfect, and roads are pieces of asphalt between potholes. I still have old Bridgestone Potenzas on 14x7 US slotted wheels, but will be purchasing Konig Rewinds 15x7 with new tires very soon. BTW, wider tires will ride harder than narrow tires, so don't go crazy.

I mixed my setup. I have rubber remaining at a single point in each corner of the the suspension. The rest is urethane. It is tight, and plenty stiff. Mines a daily driver, with new stock springs and KYB struts. Frankly I think the best upgrade I installed was the Suspension Techniques sway bar kit. It made a world of difference. I've always contended that the Z lacked good sway bars.

Did anyone see that brown 280ZX get clobbered by squad cars during a chase tonight on TV? It was sad, and the assclown driving it was a car thief. Let's have a moment of silence for the car and owner.

Some jerk broke off my 35 year old original antenna the other day. So I had to go buy a new one at the local auto parts store. It works great, it's fully automatic. Just peeves me that someone would do that, and another original part gone.

Stock offset for a 240Z is 15mm.

Are the gunmetal wheels only sold as racing wheels, because I thought the ones on MSA were street versions?

MSA use to sell the gunmetal with polished lip Panasports, but they are no longer displayed on their site. However googling these wheels shows a link to MSA that doesn't work.
