Fuel & return line insulation cloth
I'm not well versed, but this problem seemed to have become quite relevant with the 73 flat-top carbs. An electric fuel pump and the insulation was added to mitigate the vapor lock issue.

Who's been MIA?
I guess I've been pretty quiet, and should be a better admin. I joined back when the Internet Z Car Club @Carl Beck mailing list was giving way to forum based websites, and Mike started the CZC. The various Z models through the 300ZX were finding themselves forming separate discussions based on the old IZCC mailing list filters. The IZCC site still has some of the best Z data pulled together in one place, and should be placed in a vault so it never gets lost. 😉We should all be grateful that Carl got many of us together back in the 1990's, and gave us our first place to find friends of common interests. I'd like to thank @Mike for his consistent effort in creating, maintaining and updating this site for almost 30 years behind the scenes for free out of his own pocket, for the love of the Z. We're looking for sponsors.

Black panel on floor?
I mean both, but better to remove wipers and pull cover. I had this exactly problem. We welded a patch in the floorboard at that spot to repair it. Also repaired the holes in the cowl around the air intake. So the water was leaking down the inside under the carpet so you couldn't really see it.

Black panel on floor?
Check the area under the cowl cover where the wiper motor is. The air intake tends to rust out under there allowing was to run down the firewall to the very spot where your rust hole is. If that is rusted through you'll need to repair that as well.

Z's on BAT and other places collection
Looks like this thread is becoming unmanageable. Are you guys managing your post lists? Because when they're sold they need to be deleted. Don't make people run through a list of 20 cars that have been sold. Frankly I'm not convinced this thread is helpful.

Headlight upgrades
https://www.thezstore.com/datsun-240z-1971/product/865/chrome-classic-hid-projector-headlight-kit-70-83-240z-260z-280z-280zx https://www.thezstore.com/datsun-240z-1971/product/867/chrome-classic-hid-projector-headlight-kit-v2-70-83-240z-260z-280z-280zx So I'd like to hear opinions about these two options, and/or others. There not much in the descriptions on the MSA site. I don't want this thread to go negative, and all about brands. Thanks.

Rear tie down hooks for originality: Yes or no?
I have my straps in a box somewhere, and decided not to reinstall them for couple reasons, 1) limit usefulness, and 2) would need complete refurbish of the metal parts and new webbing.

Storage lid holes
I never cared for the straps. The metal finish was low quality, and they had very limited utility.

If I had to choose again, I might go with the version without front brake cooling inlets.
