  1. They were very common here back in the day. Most people stuck them inside one of the bumpers.

I plated the vacuum advance the other weekend I wired it and then put the hose on it to keep the liquid out. I plugged the advance port It turned out pretty nice for as crusty as it was. What was interesting was when it was in the tank one side would get really shiny but the other got dark. Rotate the piece and the discolorations would move. So at the very end I just wired the negative directly to the wire coming off the part and held it in the tank by hand. I rotated the part slowly and all the plate brightened up. It was really cool to watch. So this would tend to support barrel plating as giving the best finish results...

  4. The pictures do help with the analysis, As CantechZ says it looks like someone has cut it in half.😒 It also looks like you are missing the small guard that sits above the fan attached to the top center of the radiator. You can see it in Cantech's picture as well. Those full shrouds are hard to install, very tight fit. Perhaps that explains the copped off bottom. They do come up for sale from time to time. That's how I found mine, just lucky I guess. I have a fiberglass one as well. With the economy they way it is I see a lot of items for sale, high priced but being offered nonetheless. Keep on the lookout.
  5. It appears that someone cut an OEM one piece shroud in half to make it easier to remove. Your top half looks identical to the upper part of the complete one I have. Purchased mine from a local Datsun dealership in the early eighties to help with a running hot issue. Here's a pic from before I started my resto.
  6. Me too! Thanks Mike. Got this when I clicked on site's post.
  7. The one I bought off eBay (identical to ZcarDepot's image) was off a 98 Acura Integra (complete with linkage for $42), and apparently fits 96-98 Integra and 92-95 Civic also
  8. Next he will get a blank drill rod to line up throttle shaft bore. If you like I will post more pictures on his progress
  9. My general internet policy is to never click on anything that I did not ask to see. So far none of my internet accounts have ever been hacked. Why take a chance? If I click on a link to see a post and a big ad pops up instead, no offense intended to anyone, it's just my opinion - but it seems very dumb to click on anything in the unasked for "thing". I did a quick Google and I find agreement. https://www.fortinet.com/resources/cyberglossary/computer-virus How To Prevent Your Computer From Viruses There are several ways to protect your computer from viruses, including: ... Avoid Clicking Pop-up Advertisements Unwanted pop-up advertisements are more than likely to be linked to computer viruses and malware. Never click on pop-up advertisements because this can lead to inadvertently downloading viruses onto a computer.
  10. Worked on the dizzy some more. Got the advance shaft disassembled and polished the shafts. It would appear the mechanical advance is going to be 13d? Disassembled this part too I took lots of pictures! There are several little details that would be easy to miss on reassembly Might work on this part some more tomorrow, we'll see...
  11. Well that's the reason I run high octane pump gas. My car sits for a month or so but when I finally have time for an early morning cruise through my close proximity "loop" I stop and add fresh 93 octane to perk the old gas up. So far so good but I do have a high end flutter. Tomorrow morning I'm going to drive it and see if I can nail it down. Please stay tuned....I'll most likely need your help. 🥰
  12. Octane boost fouls plugs. I had someone come over for a tune-up. I pulled a plug, and asked, "Do you run octane booster?" He was surprised I knew, but the plugs ratted him out. Example: Image shamelessly stolen from https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1162289&page=2 Stabil is a fuel stabilizer and doesn't foul plugs AFAIK.
  13. I like how they've damaged the A/C unit by backing into stuff.
  14. The initial test looked like a scene from a Cheech & Chong movie. Dave? Dave's not here. No, it's me, Dave. I've got the stuff.
  15. Did you re-smoke it yet? Let us know how it works out.
  16. Oil expands quite a bit with temperature. Could be a factor. If the PO raised the back end that would also allow a little more in.
  17. He may be using this method: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_oxide
  18. So it seems almost that this was an aftermarket solution, but fairly common in some areas, if ii recon right?
  19. If you got only 8 ounces of fluid from the differential, that was not overfilled. That was underfilled. Underfilling the differential can cause overheating, damaging bearings and gears. You should use GL-5 gear oil to refill. You did not say which differential you have, but here are the capacities from the service manual GI section. The 1.3 and 1.0 are in liters (or litres for our UK & Canadian friends).
  20. Datsun Spirit stage 4 requires 93 octane. Not sure where I can find non-ethanol where I live.
  21. I'm good now too! Thanks Mike.
  22. Cool, appreciate the pics, interesting project! I always left this in Ztherapy's hands!
  23. Did you have the parking brake engaged? They can stick. Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt. I had to push the car pretty good to break the brakes loose.
  24. Here's where I saw Mark Maras's comment. There are identical threads for some reason.
  25. Hmm. interesting... That's a goiid point. But i'm not sure though if you can't reach it from the space between the grille / bumper and the front lower valances? It seems however a bit unsafe, if word goes around that every 240Z had a free key in the front ready for take-away, i'm not sure how not every Z would have been stolen in the US over the years 😅
  26. I just did and I'm on. I had already sent you an email. I guess you didn't get it. You just did the very ironic internet thing of telling me to use the web site functions to tell you that the web site functions don't work. "If your phone doesn't work just give us a phone call and we'll look in to it!" 😀 I only got lucky in that I was still signed on on my phone. Usually I sign out.
  27. Hey guys, I know I'm late to the party here and it's probably been discussed but I finally got my Honda motor to function properly on my late '78 Z. It does it all! Intermittent, low, high and parks it correctly when turned off. I am happy to give complete details but basically it will work without adding any relays or disconnecting anything. I bought the motor from zcardepot and a used connector from ebay. This motor has a 5 pin connector and the Z has a 6 pin. The Z connector wires change colors at it's connector. These are the colors on the harness side, not the original motor side. H=Honda connector, Z=factory connector (H)grn/blk=(Z)blue/rd (H)blk=(Z)blk (H)blue/yel=(Z)blue/yel (H)blue=(Z)yel/blk (H)blue/wh=(Z)yel Leave(Z)yel/grn disconnected
  28. Not Z related, but I ran a pair of SpinTech mufflers on my old 66 GT-350. It was the only time I was ticketed for excessive noise by the police in Sacramento! Subsequently changed to FlowMasters. They did sound awesome though.
