Let's hope so. I reported the spam a couple days ago. I think Mike came in and cleaned it up then. I also suggested that it might be time to reevaluate the sign-up procedures. And then this second (larger) wave hit. I'm wondering if Mike is having technical issues at his end... This current wave is severe, and I'm wondering if he's locked out at his end or something. That, or he's sitting in a lounge chair somewhere warm by the pool, sipping fruity drinks!

I hope he is! He deserves to after dealing with all of us anal retentive pricks.

Mike should restrict a new users 1st post from going live until it is reviewed by him or a moderator. I think he averages about 1 new user a day.

I’ve been away a bit, but still tinkering…!

This isn't exactly topic related but it was painted in the early 80s and looked like a busted block wall with a new ZX inside. I saw this when I was a young teenager and it started my love for the style which from the front mimicked the 911s of the day. So simply put this started my Z interest. It looked great for a few years then then the neighborhood idiots started spraying all over it. The owner of Ed's Foriegn Car Parts kept it touched up and nice for a few years then just let it go. I went by there the other day and snapped this weak arse picture of my youth. They'll tear the building down soon but I've admired this since '83 maybe?

I hope not. I would get kicked off this site...and you guys thought I was a real person.

Well, I'll join in with my spam story. On this site I had a spammer send me a picture of a clock he was trying to sell. The numb nuts sent me one of my own clock pictures I used several months ago in an add. Oh, and another tell is "my paypal has problems, but I can use my son's" or "please send payment with friends and family and send me a copy of the transaction". right.

I agree! I would come up with a method to prevent new registrants from posting pending approval. @Mike might need to solicit help from a forum member that has the time and skills to help filter out this mess. I just waded through 6+ pages of crap to find the 3 or 4 new posts... 😞

Today I did a bit of running about trying to find metric fasteners. I already knew the big dog had quit selling to the general public during the pandemic. I dropped by my favorite local Porsche place for lunch, they do a luau every Friday. Today was salmon ravioli. Great guys if you get by Reno it’s EBS Racing and the luau is Friday at 1pm. Anyway, my buddy Don turned me on to a couple places that sell metric fasteners. The first one said they no longer sell to the public, they recommended the second of Don’s referrals. This place is a ranch supply and I had forgotten that it’s legal to openly carry weapons in Nevada! LOL! Anyway, they pointed me to the fasteners and I gathered every 10X thread pitch I could and headed for home. Success! Now, to pick a GM alternator that will power all of this new EFI!

Off topic here…squirrel! I was in St. Louis for work this week and went for a couple walks downtown while I was there and saw this and took a pic. I can’t believe this person parked their car here or the lift driver parked the lift here. This is a 55k or more Supra.

I'll wager my 240 that he'll know. Whoa! He could say he doesn't and get my car? Not Phillip, he's too good a guy and I miss him.

I am happy with the results. Came back pretty good. Thanks for all the support guys. I am getting the interior cleaned and putting insulation. Once done major would be suspension. Next project for summer.

Nothing brings out the scammers like posting an ad in in the "parts wanted" section of the forum. I posted an ad a few days ago looking for a left front fender for my 73 Z project. Within hours I started getting bombarded with replies stating they had one in excellent condition. Just a few clues to be aware of so you don't get burned. See how long they've been a member. One reply I got the person had been a member for 4 hours, another one was a member for 6 days....red flag! Another clue is the stated condition is always excellent...we all know that if you can find one of these it's not going to be in perfect condition. Look at where the message is sent from...it's usually from some oddball source like tap a talk . Some offer to send pictures, but the pictures are usually ones copied from some other source. I had one that sent me pictures from a legitimate ad where I had spoke to the seller who informed me the part had been sold. If you call the number and connect with a real live person who speaks broken English it's more than likely a scam. I replied to one that left an email address. I replied a few days after I got his message...guess what? It came back as an invalid email address. Another red flag is the price is usually very reasonable and includes shipping. The last fender I bought, the shipping was more than the cost of the part. One way to help determine if its a scam (but not perfect) is to ask for specific pictures of the part. I usually ask for a close ups of the front and back of the area where the headlight bucket attaches. It's a shame we have to deal with these low life's. Too bad there's not a way we could screen them out. Maybe we can help each other out by posting detailed info any time we encounter a scammer. Remember the old saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". Paul

JB weld is very shape-able. It does best in compression scenarios

I hope Mike can prevent this B.S. in the future. If not, I hope there's no limit on how many one can add to the ignore list. Mine is growing daily.

You might be able to tack on a little weld then file it down. Not sure how JB weld files down. Multiples keys for the car is super annoying. rekeying these cylinders can be done but that is also a huge pain in the arse due to how the cylinder cover is wrapped over the body.

Another forum that I am a member of (not Datsun content) requires that a first time poster submit an introductory post. Who they are, where they are from, why they want to be a forum member. Helps prevent some of the issues that this forum has.

Google Maps has a feature that lets you look back at their previous images. Wonder how far back it might go.

I was bombarded with the Spam ads as well, I reported a couple of them and it appears Mike has them banned for the moment.

That's a good question, Ian. I'm familiar with some of the project codes for the early to mid 60s period (such as the B680X) but I don't know much about the later ones and I wonder if there was some kind of re-arrangement or restructuring after the Nissan and Prince merger? I would imagine some kind of change being necessary, so I wonder if new project code systems were included in anything of that nature? Something to look into for sure.

I think I recall reading somewhere that one of the early Nissan design/studio teams was numbered 903RTZ. ...I'll see myself out. 😀

Great document. Alan, in my CSP311 development uncovering, Nissan used A###X for their project codes (though the CSP didn't get one), e.g. A250X was an engine development of a SP311 engine and A550X was the still-born Nissan 2000GT. Was this carried on into the early, what would become the S30, which we see from the document as 270KK and changed (what I am asking is did it have an A###X first), or if I remember the CSP and S30 (for example) was designed under a different design studio's within Nissan? Thus, did each design studio/team have it's own code? Cheers Ian

This is a real problem and it’s everywhere. Here are some other ways to avoid scammers. 1. Have the person post a picture with a price of paper with specific information on the paper, with the item. I just sold a car using Cargurus and they required that I take a photo of the car with the door open, and a piece of paper on the windshield with a code they emailed me written by hand on it. This keeps people from using photos they pulled of the internet. 2. Not to offend anyone but a foreign accent or poor grammar is a dead giveaway. 3. People need to earn my trust. I call people before buying most of the time. People are are too anxious and willing to please are more likely to be scammers. 4. I also like to lead people with a false statement that is obviously not true but only to someone who’s informed would know. Like “Does this fender fit on the 1972 with the special edition headlight buckets”? Or something like…”I need a fender that fits the 1975 to 1981 Z not the earlier ones. If the guy says…”yes, it sure does”….then you probably got him. My mother in law got scammed last year with an Amazon email fake charge. She called the number was on the phone for 2 hrs the guy talked her into letting him have access to her computer where he stole all her passwords and credits card numbers. Took her to the cleaners..she was 79 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
