COVID-19
3 pointsIf nothing else, we already have rational comments about the virus coming from the Pres-Elect, and will soon (January) have a coordinated and consistent message from the White House. I'm sure there is a segment of the population that won't listen, but over time having a consistent message does tend to shape opinions.3 points

3 pointsI’ve seen kinks and I’ve seen hoses that are so stiff they impede choke motion. OEM stuff is amazing, the 40 year since last started last Z I’ve been playing with, still had soft hoses I’ve been using the silicon tubing that RC hobby stores sell for the nitrous fuel they use in RC car and airplane engines. Comes in different colors too! Pink is nice. No doubt Z Therapy has some input on this Wait I’m Canadian, COLOURS.3 points

Cool Tool of the Day. (CTOD)
2 pointsYes there is a 1.25 diameter roller thing at the other end to help you form tubing as well if and when that comes in handy. That wheel is a screen door bottom guide roller. It has a 1/4” groove, bit bigger than the 3/16 tubing, but works just fine.2 points

"The Orange"
2 pointsYes, those are the ones I use. I get a 30" black cable for '+' and 25" black cable for '-' and cut off the straight terminals. Got the cables from Pep Boys. I use 10Ga wire for the negative to firewall. Strip about 1.25" of insulation off the cable and insert into the right angle terminal end. I then screw a 1" long #10 flat head woodscrew to secure the wire in the new terminal. Then melt solder into end to seal and finish. I have found some rubber terminal covers but they are a bit too large. I think vintagerubber used to sell a set, but they were crazy expensive, over $200 I think. This costs me under $50.2 points

valve train components-78 280z
1 pointCams are tough. Scotchbrite pad, any oil, and some elbow grease. Before After For the rockers, put some 600 grit sand paper on a marble/stone cutting board (TJ Macs kitchen area) then pull and roll the rocker surface towards you. Water or oil on the paper helps. Pitting in the surface is OK.1 point

COVID-19
1 pointI live either at the beginning or the end of the Appalachian Mountains, depends on where you standing. I like to think the beginning but s h i t does flow down so most likely the end. Add my train of thought, where I was going with my post. There's a lot of state parks and the like up here cheap and friendly so I bet they do get close. Cornbread and grits and all that other stuff nobody admits to like.1 point

COVID-19
1 pointBe it corporate leadership, the army, a president, or me as a parent speaking to my children, humans like consistency in messaging and what is familiar. When reenforced consistently, it becomes the new familiar. There are always rebels / belligerent / bigoted or ignorant people anywhere, but at least there is now going to be a president who seeks to unite. Let’s hope enough politicians are able to get past party politics and work together / with him for the good of the people. COVID-19 doesn’t care for colour, religion or political persuasion. It’s the silent invisible enemy we need to battle together.1 point

1 pointI just stopped by my local Nissan dealer ready to order a couple #16356-25610 tubes. He told me, with a straight face, $53.76, each! I think I'll call ZTherapy. I do like the baked in curve though.1 point

Possibly found exhaust leak?
1 pointHit a hardware store and browse. It's common. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-5-16-in-x-1-4-in-x-17-ft-White-D-Center-EPDM-Medium-Gap-Weatherseal-Tape-V25WA/1000170141 point

1 pointThis is good reference though a good point was just brought up. If these are the same as what they were in the '70s they may not be good for today's fuels with higher ethanol content. This may be worth researching.1 point

1 pointIf you look more closely at his web site , you may find that ordering out-of-stock parts from him may still be an option, given that he makes reproductions. https://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/1 point

1 pointI've used the ZTherapy hoses. They're super floppy silicone (I think). They don't kink or bind up the nozzles during the choke operation.1 point

Air / Fuel Meter Recommendations
1 pointHere's what Innovate says in the user's manual for the gauge: "Using a clock as reference, mount the bung between the 9:00 o’clock and 3:00 o’clock position. Welding the bung in the lower section of the exhaust pipe can result in sensor damage caused by condensation making contact with the sensor’s internal heating element." My interpretation of that is "anywhere along the top half of the tube is OK." That said, I think I would rather have it a little off 12:00 for the surface tension reasons Dutch mentioned.1 point

Cool Tool of the Day. (CTOD)
1 pointJust stare at that little beauty for a minute. The brake line threaded into that little remnant of an old brake line welded to the bar is the secret weapon. I already use the CuNi tubing and have for years. It is very soft and forms nicely in my powerful hands. However, there is one bend type that is always challenging and of course occurs frequently. A tight curve near the end of the tube. Bending the end of the tube requires more force as the leverage is reduced with shorter length. Don’t believe me, make a 180 in the middle of a 12 long piece, then make it again at the end. My finger tips cringe at the thought of it. Dang, if only there was a way to safely, easily grab the end of the tube in a vise grip or something without screwing up the threads or crushing the tubing and giving me an extension handle to increase leverage. BINGO! Thread the tube nut into an old female brake fitting welded to the end of a scrap. Consider that little devil tight S curve on the stock front caliper. TWO tight 180 bends near BOTH ends! Impossible to make it nice and pretty and kink free! Not any more. I made a bunch. Need any? All of these were created on the car on real stock calipers and strut tube mounted hose ends, so they fit perfectly. They are R and L sided. They took literally 5 minutes each to bend and fit. Yes, they are not the exact same shape as the stock ones, sorry. Those bends are ridiculous.1 point

1 pointGot up early today and took Mrs. Racer 2.0 to SeaTac and put her on one of those metal tubes headed for Pensacola. She is going to see her daughter, son in law and youngest grandson. She will be there for six weeks. So. Maybe everyone should come over, bring some hookers, liquor, you know the scene. Time to party. Oh, and I have never been good at math, but six weeks puts her return at 20 December . Looks like Racer is having turkey and pumpkin pie alone this year. One last bit. Walking out of the terminal I saw this helpful sign, posted in Canadian. Oh, and remember, wear your mask!1 point- Should I Replace Clutch Master Cylinder?

1 pointYou know, I strongly suspect that many a girl has at some point explained that diagram to some guy! ;) On a serious note though, that’s a GREAT tip - i assume its to it keep the water droplets from staying inside and messing with things. But I don’t get the not totally vertical orientation. Any thoughts?1 point- 12/70 on eBay - Barn Find

Hi! I'm Mário and I'm from Portugal...recently I restores my Z...a Portuguese one! Well, I learn a lot reading this topic, and I found some interesting features, like the 432 suspension and many other details. I can confirm about the stabilizer bars sizes and all extras our Portuguese Z's have! It's very interesting because my Z is the lowest vin in Portugal, sold and registered in August 71, but the manufacture month is March. There are 70 Z's sold in this year (71) and all with lowest vins...mine is HLS30U-23644...there are several diferences from the others sold during 72 and in the end by 73. Mine has rear and front spoiler, vertical defrost lines, kobe seiko wheels, blue windows, two interior air buttons, passenger foot rest, different gear box, 1st series center console, plastic engine ventilator, engine bay light, 71 vertical antena radio and many more...above the gloves compartment there are 4 letter, and accordong to a doce, they, the portuguese Z's, where specific for our market...but it's hard to find such information. From 71 to 73 only 139 were sold...these days, less than 45 are running... here are some photos of my Z...It's all std...no modifications...even the engine and compartment parts.1 point - Possibly found exhaust leak?
