  1. I go to a lot of car shows here in Pittsburgh on the weekends, I am usually the only Z of any kind and most times the only foreign car. On Saturday I attended a show held by the local aeronautics school at the county airport. The control tower is the main building and is't an art deco design so I photographed the car in front of it. Hope you like,
  2. I have a set available. See: 1972-1975 Fuel cap and ring (new plating) Keith
  3. Funny - my buddy has a twinmax that I borrow for the annual tuning on my carbed Duc. Never thought to use it on the SU’s though. Would certainly be an improvement over the unisyn in accuracy (super sensitive) but I have had a unisyn in my toolbox for almost 30 years (bought it for my 64 Corvair convertible RIP) and always associated the unisyn with cars and the Twinmax with bikes...
  4. Yeah, I feel your pain. Sometimes it's kinda fun, other times not. Had a guy at a gas station walk up when I had the hood up. He looked at the engine like he knew what it was and then asked " Is that one of them rotary motors?" I just closed the hood and said gotta go!
  5. That’s some carp!
  6. Check the wear pattern on the new shoes. I found that my parts store shoes seemed to be made for a larger diameter drum. The contact points were only on the ends of the shoes. Didn't create much friction. You could remove the lock pin and try to spin the spindle pin to get an idea of whether or not it will come out. Some are easy some are not. If it won't spin it won't be easy.
  7. Way off, $5,000. Told me where they could buy one for a few thousand. "Here's my phone, call them and I'll buy it today". Then didn't know was it a 2.4, 2.8, Z or ZX. Oh yeah also said no way was the paint original. That's when I quit being polite. its too hot to argue with rednecks.
  8. Burned up some older fuel this morning. Refilled with fresh at a busy gas station/McDonald's and had 3 experts tell me what my car was worth. Small town stuff. Get a quart of oil and a Quarter Pounder in one place. Also free Z appraisals. ? Dicks
  9. It is a Grose Jet flood! I just pulled a pair of Grose Jets from a set of carbs yesterday. I can send for paypal postage.
  10. That other wheel cylinder will probably have the same amount of carp(? couldn't resist) in it, even though it is not leaking it's worth cleaning it out and inspecting it.
  11. Monkey, what Cad data did you need? Ive already taken the body diagram i to cad, traced and verified most of the data. Ive made a body jig, which allows me to measure from, similar ro a car-o-liner / global jig. Ive made sil panel clamps which pinch the sill edges(lasercut 16mm steel plates on base plates). Accuracy on jig is <0.5mm, and serves me well. To the point frustrates my mate who bumped my car moving it and now has an alignment issue on one of the strut towers. (bumped frame with a forklift with the lh tower against the hoist!) oouch. Basically ive used a 10mm dia pin which is the 'C' datum and i can use a tape anywhere diagonally to pinpoint with a plumbob or square, to fit a point in 3d space. I think i had some pics on the Aus Z car site somewhere. If not ill post some up here. Nat0z
  12. Crossmember, lower control arms, TC rods and other suspension parts will be getting blasted and powder coated on Monday - if I can get everything separated tomorrow that is. Some of these bolts don't want to let go after 40 years...
  13. Some progress today... Next week should see lots more!
  14. Well I just listed the car with Hemmings and that should be up in a day or so, wish me luck.

Not seeing any rebar.... Agreed, what intrigues me is the black tubing running parallel to the valve cover, does a 90 degree bend downwards (by the hood latch) through a ???? then under the intake..... I don't have a '76, but THAT is not stock, OEM or whatever you wanna call it. I know you aren't me, and I'm not you, but $5K is just too much for that non-EGR intake...

looks like a homemade heat shield.
  17. I've learned a lesson today. No more sharing info at a gas station. Just with you guys. "I know nothing!"
  18. You can turn a long one into a short by drilling the pin holes higher. Member Madkaw did it with success. Now I have to drill the 2 front lids that I have left over for a set I'm rebuilding.
  19. Yep. Only one but it's yours.
  20. Hank visited once. Come on out for a visit in the quiet season. You can stay with us.
  21. @Nat0z, welcome to the forum, the download section is always hungry for that kind of practical info, https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forum/18-downloads/
  22. Pulled the tired old original engine out of the ZX in anticipation of getting my head back from the machine shop. I'm not quite ready for the new engine yet, but I figure this will give me plenty of opportunity to clean up the engine bay and deal with that miserable power steering fluid leak that's been there since I got the car. Looks like I'll need to replace the coolant hoses to the heater core that run through the firewall. They all but disintegrated upon removal. Sent from my Coolpad 3310A using Tapatalk
  23. Lye will evidently clean the burrs of aluminum and beeswax is said to prevent build up but not contaiminate
  24. I found that when using this wire, a flap disc in the 60-80 grit works very well. I can not say enough on how easy it was to clean up my ugly welds using this wire. https://www.esabna.com/us/en/products/filler-metals/mig-mag-wires-gmaw/mild-steel-wires/spoolarc-easy-grind.cfm
  25. Looks like the beginning of fun journey. Awesome
  26. Hi, I live close to Huntsville, AL and have an Feb. 71 car that is temporarily off the road due to a gas leak at the tank. You're welcome to come look at it and take pictures, etc. Otherwise ... depending on how long "a few weeks" is ... stay in touch and I'll head that way once I get the leak sorted out. If it matters, my car seems to be at the break between Series 1 and series 2 and as far as I know is original except I have removed the A/C and some of the bits off of the balance tube.
  27. My last email from them a couple of days ago said the first shipment is arriving next week. That stock is all spoken for. The next shipment is due in September and has extra stock.

Is that rebar welded to the side of the intake manifold?
  29. BTW, count your blessings. My daughter wrecked one of my vehicles again this week and flattened it on the back of a 2015 Lincoln. It could be worse!
