  1. Do I get a cookie or something for breaking 500? I think my goofy arse has the high score? I'm working on 500!
  2. Not sure, but would probably guess, that if your wife is a certified psychologist, she'd probably pronounce all of us "Frickin Crazy"!
  3. Yup. I checked with my wife, the psychologist, and she said the term "Reciprocal Liking" would apply in this case. Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Dennis
  4. A special cookie for you!

Hi all, I've just received my 1973 240z! The previous owner towed it out from MO for me along with piles and piles of parts. We went over it together and it's in better shape than I expected (it was a Craigslist transaction over the phone between MO and NJ). I'm sure that I'll start finding nasty surprises once I start into it, but for now I'm basking in the glory of having a Z in my garage.
  6. RedBird is having a bit of trouble with the new system so i'm asking for her. She is in need of a locking gas cap for RB, a 76 280 ASAP. Does anyone know if anything is available cheap and quick? It appears that Stant doesn't make one for the 76. What years are compatible with the 76? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Mark
  7. Did a double-take when I first saw this Road & Track photo of the new Fiat/Miata/Fiata. Seems vaguely familiar -- maybe they should develop a fastback?! http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives/news/a29486/fiat-124-qa-review/
  8. wanted to share this.
  9. Because they're owned by Renault?
  10. Actually, it's just shut off completely. The hole in the throttle body is covered or on the other side of the throttle blade. Can't remember which. Just one of those weird things that can start pages of forum discussion - ported or constant vacuum advance supply. Google will give many pages if you try that phrase. Nissan went with ported, at least for EFI. I think it gives cleaner emissions and a steadier idle.
  11. My sticker says 10 BTDC on my '77 5 speed, just ran down and checked.
  12. The number of teeth needs to match the diff gear set. But the orientation of the housing (which side the hold-down slot is on), and maybe the diameter of the gear (I've seen reference to other sizes but haven't seen it myself), can change with the transmission.
  13. Guy, I believe the correct term is "Diseazed"...
  14. I'd have to check with Dr. Freud on that. But, thanks for the "Reciprocal Liking" on my earlier post. Maybe I'll get to 500 someday, too. Dennis
  15. That's like sex!
  16. Thanks Guy. Being "liked" by such a great and intelligent group of people means a lot to this small town fellow. Thank you Charles. Looking at your post and LIKE ratio it won't be long until you're in the "500 Club". I'm sure Ms Dennis has a psychological term or two for me and my "likes". 1,000, here I come! 113 with only 268 post, your gonna blow me out of the water! Autograph? I'm happy to say my fingerprints will be on your Z soon. This gives a new meaning to "cookie disclaimer", they're gonna need a bigger boat! Thanks Mike, without you this would've not been feasible .
  17. 501!!! Love it...
  18. When you speak of the model year, that is usually the DMV title year. Many/most states would title the car for the coming year beginning around August. That suggest that cars with a 08/70 build date and after will be titled as a '71 in most instances. Nissan decided to change the flow-thru ventilation design beginning in February 1971. The cars produced thru late January '71 (approx. 20,500 units) had the vent in the rear hatch and a smooth sail panel. These are the cars commonly referred to as Series 1. Looking back thru this thread, you have not yet given us the VIN and build dates for either of your cars.
  19. I don't know if that modified look is what you should be going for... Crate that engine up, send it to me and I will send you a nice stock original 280 engine in mildly abused condition .... No charge!
  20. Dropped the motor in last night. Quite a chore for one person.... How's it look?
  21. Oh sure, you want mine to look really bad. At least I finally got the 240Z rear bumper mounted on the 260Z.

Contacted "Bo" on line thru craigslist an ad he had. . He seemed to be selling because the lack of experienced help with his car by his ad description. I volunteered my services since he was fairly close . Bo turned out to be a great family guy that was wanting a Z and found one. He got this rust free Automatic for him and his wife to enjoy, but like all these cars, it needs a Z medic to be right. By the end of day of checking out his car we agreed to get her going to a safe reliable status for him to enjoy and progress from there. With only 90K miles she is just broke in I told him this will be and up and down adventure with these "classics", so I hope you are ready. I don't have facility to do a "restoration", but I plan on doing anything I can. We got it up on the lift and while he was here and just love those west coast cars-so clean. Looked like the gas tank had already gone thru-painted. There was urethane in most of the bushings already. It needs front end work, rack boots, tie rod boots, ball joint boots are all cracked and or gone. Interior is a gut job, but not sure what color he is going back too. I like the white myself, but either way he is starting from ground zero. Dash is cracked, vinyl is shot , seats are shot. Door panels are some funky aftermarket as well as headliner. Weather stripping is gone to. Already have the SU's apart troubleshooting a rich issue. Carbs were badly misadjusted and one needle was bent. Next is a complete tune up, including valve adjustment, electronic ignition,etc...
  23. Not to be a Danny Downer but I wonder if it's vented Part of fit is function. Could be why the parts places say it doesn't "fit".
  24. Set float levels first or you'll be chasing your tail with anything else you do to compensate for them. Carbs want to be tuned in a specific order from gross adjustment to fine.
  25. You know Guy, I've been told that my whole life thanks to Bob Knievnel. My own #1 fan.
