Cleaning old parts

I'm not sure of anything like this on your side of the coast, but in the lovely resort town of Virginia Beach, we have been blessed with a DIY Garage. Here it is in February and we had to deal with a high of 70 degrees.... I better shaddup before Mother Nature sends me a jinx....

PS - The pictures don't do it justice.... This place is AWESOME. For what you are asking to do, $15 / day for use of the shop equipment - compressed air, sandblasting cabinet, parts washer, presses...

BTW - NICE SCORE on the 240Z.... Talk about being at the right place at the right time.... Congrats!

A 20 gal parts washer tank used to be the standard cleaning apparatus filled with Varsol/paint thinner but not sure what the laws are now,  I got rid of mine and now used a 2 gallon bucket filled with SuperClean, PurplePower or one of the other industrial Lye based cleaners.

Sodium or Potassium Hydroxcide is the proper name for Lye, you can not use it on aluminum but it's terrific for steel, iron or plastics, soaking a part over night usually removes the grease, paint, undercoating.

A cabinet media blaster is also a great tool to have in your shop for deep rust.

Bosch Dishwasher

Do you use a dishwasher? I mean it wouldn't surprise me!! LOL In some ways it's the same as a commercial cleaning cabinet. If so, what do you use for detergent? What about grease in the discharge to sewer?
