Has aftermarket speakers in the headrests, just plug your head unit in and they’re ready to go! Driver seat outside backrest is worn as seen in the picture, passenger side is in good condition. I'm a big fan of having a vacuum gauge on the balance tube (and plugging the emmissions holes). If the engine isn't healthy, it doesn't matter how the carbs are tuned. Compression, Timing, then Carbs. The vaccum gauge is a wonderful tool to see the health of the engine. I

Lets not forget this is a California Datsun engine! That's probably the root of the problems! After these years, I would have just purchased another engine with the stock cam and not messed up by a builder that doesn't know what they're doing.

I've said this years ago, and I'll say it again....I think its the crappy California Datsun engine and most likely the hot Cam that was installed in the head. I've rebuilt these L6 engines and its not rocket science, unless you're an idiot. Good luck.

I've been using a lot of seam sealer from underneith while my trans & diff are out. I can't believe how many cracks there are between the sheet metal and everywhere else.

I thought this "rebuilt" engine had a hot-cam installed in it. Outside of the original Datsun specs and there are going to be problems for day-to-day driving. This one might be set up for WOT and will run great, but driving in traffic will probably suck.

Has anyone attempted their own roller bushings similar to what ztherapy manufactures? I wonder if that’s the solution we need for us guys who don’t need all the bling but want the carbs to perform. I’d order the ztherapy kit but I’ve heard it’s almost a year backlog!

I had to replace the ignition switch (behind the key) on the steering column as my 45+ year old one in my '72 seemed to have crapped out while cruising down the highway due to the bouncing of the keys against the ignition switch.

While pulling the axles out of my '72 240z I noticed that the Grease Catcher (#56 below) was damaged, most likely by the bad bearings that were in there or a prior service by a former owner. I'm converting to Disc Brakes and am questioning if I truly need the piece as its no longer available and its too far damaged to bend it back into shape. Based on the image it appears that the grease catcher is used to prevent grease from entering the inside of the brake drum. Does anyone run their rear axles without the grease catcher?

I run a 4.11 and a ‘77 wide ratio 5speed. It’s very spirited driving and I love it. On the highway it’s at about 3500rpm in 5th at 75mph. I don’t have my Z for efficiency, fun is more important to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
