  1. I took my motor and tranny out starting with the engine mounts and going back to the differential bolts. Would it be easier to drop the pair down and reconnect starting with the drive shaft to differential bolts then moving forward? Motor mounts last. Thanks for any first hand or guesses.
  2. Those are from futofab.com $400. to $500, don't remember but they look great when clean. They're a little dusty today, been covered for six months.
  3. That's what that orange one is. Is that what you wanted? I can get closer.
  4. What car do you have, 280 or 240? I've got both and will be happy to take those photos.
  5. That spade terminal is the S terminal where I connect my remote trigger. The top is the positive. If I recall correctly. Battery ground goes to the top bolt holding the starter onto the bellhousing.
  6. That's the first I've seen of your car Captain, really nice!

  8. There's some adjustability in the clutch on my '72, not sure on your's though. Slave cylinders adjustable. And the pedal. Mine was slipping bad thought it needed replacing but read on here how to adjust. Works fine. FWIW
  9. Here you go. Distributor advance curves S30-S130.xls Mine's the D6K8-05
  10. I have a spreadsheet on the different distributors I found online. Ill post it up when I'm home or you could google search for it. I decided on the '79 after comparing the data on that. Amazon had one with a new insides module. Very pleased with it.
  11. A paper punch? That's a good idea. Both holes the same size punched into squares of gasket paper that match the size of the spray bar, about 1"x1". Thanks guys, I have a plan!
  12. Spray bar mounting. Light film of black RTV? Make gaskets out of gasket material? Bolt it on bare? I'll use loctite on the bolts. Thank you for any direction on this. Cliff
  13. Here's an electrical upgrade supplier, when you're ready. http://datsun-240z-upgrades.net/
  14. Good deal, you got lucky. There are filters on the banjo bolts that could get clogged? "Internal gas filter" in this picture.
  15. Thank you Mike for your reply. I didn't use their rust inhibitive primer, I guess that was the problem? The other thing I didn't like about the chassis paint was the viscosity of it, they thin it themselves so it's like buying pre mixed antifreeze (you're paying for a half gallon of water). I buy a quart of paint and I get a half of a quart of paint and a the other half is thinner. I've always been confused by the term enamel, is it not a term for the sheen of all paint? I've used latex/acrylic enamel and oil based enamel. Both have a low sheen finish. Hocus pocus advertising. Now lacquer is a different animal altogether, I stay away from that, it's for the pros to lay down.
  16. You be pleasantly surprised at the parts Nissan will have, you just have to get the part number yourself. It usually takes one or two days to get the part too. Here's the way I get them without installing the E Fast system Nissan uses, http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/engine-240z-260z That's futofab.com, they have some great stuff with good pricing. I google.com everything to start with, then go from there. amazon.com has all kinds of parts with free shipping, I buy a lot from them. Advance Auto parts is local but if you buy the part online and use a coupon code from retailmenot.com you'll get 30% off then go to the store and pick it up. O'reillys has some 240 parts as well but no coupon code option. zcardepot.com is fantastic, good parts at very reasonable prices. ztherapy.com for carburetors help, for sure! zcarsource.com http://www.blackdragonauto.com/ The Z Store or MSA as we call it. datsunparts has a bad reputation, 'Caveat Emptor'. I'm forgetting a bunch I'm sure, but there's a start.
  17. Pull the hoses off the carbs and put them into some kind of clear bottle, water bottles work good, take the valve cover off and work the pump's arm back and forth by hand to see if you are getting fuel to them. That's what I would do.
  18. If You can't get it running, sale me the valve cover. That looks really cool/neat!
  19. Do me a favor. Kick your friend right square in the nuts when you see him.
  20. If his 77s like mine was, put a mirror under the egr valve and look for a rotted out hole in the intake. FWIW
  21. What about the EFI power connector at the battery?
  22. Dennis thank you for that, it makes me feel better. Dogs do make life interesting!
  23. I think purina dog chow caused my dog to die too soon, it's trash in a bag but too late now. My next dog will eat like a King. Losing them isn't worth the ease and price of Dog Chow. You get what you pay for lesson I've learned the hardest way imaginable. I miss my dog! Thinking of Deanna. Hopefully she'll pull through like Red Bird has. Cliff
  24. That's something I really miss about my old dog, her bark. Very aggressive sounding but she was a big ole baby. School kids cut through my yard and when she was outside all you could see of them was butt holes and elbows as they ran.
