  1. Attalla? I live near Attalla, Alabama! I believe it is an overflow jug. Here's one similar on ebay.com, http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221690584990?item=221690584990&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466&rmvSB=true
  2. There should be a motorcycle named after them. Learned something new today, back to bed now. Thanks CharlieKwin!
  3. Here it is, http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/53029-could-it-be-a-slipping-clutch/#comment-483646 Good information in there.
  4. From all I've read, I'm about to do the same, you'll need a newer fork and slave cylinder. There's a thread around somewhere we were just talking about, can't find it now. Sorry.
  5. I wonder if he has the cannister type oil sending unit or the smaller one for a "dummy light". I've read people put the smaller ones on from a local parts store and not the right one just because the counter guy says it's the one the computer shows, FWIW. In the picture he posted of his glass fuel filter, it looked brownish red to me. I've got them on both my carbed cars and they are a yellowish green. He may have a rusty tank? Car plus $6,000 chasing gremlins and still not right, mecanico no es bueno.
  6. Knowing that's a datsun parts llc motor helps understand the low psi.
  7. That's what the gauge on my red 240 reads, same as yours. Has it ever been noticeably lower in the past? You could run it without a thermostat. Get another gasket then pop the cover off, no need for the Porsche mechanic.
  8. That looks to be one fantastic separator you have there. Never have I seen one like that. I google it and see about getting one for myself, nothing more important on my type air work. Great info! Thanks!
  9. Great looking work going there. I had one helluva time with my siphon set up at first, moisture from the continuous running compressor. I bought an extra moisture separator that goes before the gun and hung the bucket from the ceiling so it wasn't sucking as much, more or less falling down into the gun. Worked good with coal slag for a rougher finish. FWIW Cliff
  10. I wish he was down the street at the motel, closest to the 240 I'm working on.
  11. I'm trying to stay off those paper thin fenders .
  12. The last time I put an engine with the header already on I removed the steering rod in the engine bay, it was easier going in but a pain getting the rod bolted back up. I want to install the header beforehand. If I have someone push the motor towards the passenger's side on the way down would the header clear the steering rod okay? I'm trying to figure this out so it's as easy as possible without having too many people helping, they make me very nervous.
  13. Slip resistant ramps are wonderful.
  14. Or a cheap meat thermometer in the coolant. You need some numbers before you go through all that trouble.
  15. I would buy, or borrow, an infrared thermometer and check the temperature all over the motor while it's idling. $50 at amazon.com Did you install an electric fan? Seems like that video guy said that was the most helpful thing he did.
  16. Datsun Parts LLC, missing something? That's the joke of the day, congratulations.
  17. Same here. Can't trust 40 somethings or forty year old cars. I used picks and screw divers even a Dremel to remove the hardened sediment at the rear of the block between 6 & 5. And that's when I got it back from the machinist!
  18. Tom Monroe says to stand on them to check the rubber before installing. He "had" a three row, now it's a double. I took that third one off mine and stood on it, seems okay so I'm using it. Maybe I need to get a heavier person to double check?
  19. Doesn't the fan turn on y'alls car all the time? His isn't turning. Water pump or something is keeping it from turning in the video.
  20. And a nice pair of driving shoes, with them little rubber nipples.
  21. It's something with your fan! maybe the clutch? It doesn't spin when you crank it.
  22. Okay I was a little off earlier. Mine has two 1/8 NPT plugs on the top left and three 1/4 NPT plugs, 1 on the top right, 1 in the front and another on the right side end.
  23. I've got the invoice at home. I can let you know for sure tomorrow. I went with what Bruce P from ztherepy said and used NPT plugs from fastenal, my local nuts and bolt store. One eighths inch I believe, 1 on the front side and two or three up top. They'll screw in with a little force, tefon tap helps. I wished I'd tried those black flush mounting set screws. I used them plugging my a/c compressor holes and they look good against the blue of the block. Who knows against the aluminum?
  24. Ran the oil pump last night. Great flowing streams from the spray bar. Have some extra gasket material showing on the cam towers. I should cut off as much as possible? Or leave it? It's stuck down with Permatex aviation gasket sealer.
  25. Are you measuring off that ear on the collar? Is that the tines the fork rest on you're talking about? Thanks again for that helpful tip, I was going in blind.
