Stroker 3.1
I have a Tilton 10.5lb 225mm with the $100 Exedy clutch kit that isn't noisy at all. My 280 with the same clutch kit on an OE 225mm flywheel is noisy as hell when the throwout bearing has the load but I beat it down with the old bearing when I installed it onto the collar. The next time I had a machine shop press the new on, no noise. EDIT: I used a bench vise and the old bearing instead of a hammer to press the first one on, sorry.

Looking for front fenders
In my experiences, if courtesy can get it my local dealership can to. Get the part number and call, they'll check the stock and if it's available you'll get it in just a couple of days. Amazes me at the parts they still have for my '72 compared to my '77. Bought new scuff plates about a month ago, the newer better ones that aren't covered with vinyl. Go Nissan!!!

Engine rebuild
Could be a lash pad popped out? I had one come off and have read where others have too.

Added to my Garage this weekend!
Oh boy! Is it a 1,000cc or a 600? Looks like a 1 liter as tall as it is. You'll have trouble with your face getting hit by the handlebars all the way through third gear. That's one helluva beginners bike.

Stock Speakers - Just One Of Them?
Are you talking about the connection from the harness to the back of the radio? It has power wire, illumination and two speaker wires? I can get to that pretty easy since I still haven't installed the console. That's what I'll check first then if I have to I'll pull the rear hatch panel that covers the speaker. Thank you for a direction/idea on where to start. I'm hoping you aren't talking about a capacitor inside the tuner when you say "coupling cap", hopefully just a capacitor on the speaker if it's not the power/speaker/ illumination plug. Thanks again.

Stock Speakers - Just One Of Them?
Pretty old thread but I have a question that someone may be able to answer? I recently installed the OE am/fm radio in my '72, it was a huge PITA too so removing it ain't happening. When I push the power knob off and on it makes a pretty loud popping noise but when it's on a station I can barely hear it. Like usual I did a dumb thing and didn't bench test it prior to installing, regret that now. Would anybody have any experience with this type issue? Is the radio bad or hopefully the speaker? Thanks for any help!

Brakes stuck
EDIT: Oh yeah, the whole reason I posted was to say I think your original paint will shine like a new nickel and I love #920 Safari Gold, it's my favorite behind #918 Orange I agree with Jonathan on the original paint, from what I can see of the pictures. I found some touch up paint from amazon.com, talked to the guy and told him how old the car was and he sent me an almost exact match. I washed mine a few times then did the touch ups and had it wheeled down. The guy that cut the paint offered to buy the car for double what I paid. The night I got it home After a lot of elbow grease and soap After the wheeling and polishing by a pro

Electric Servos Instead Of Vacuum Driven HVAC
On the positive, I'd already lined my Mom up to come stay at my house with my dog. She's miserable helping raise her grandkids and that was something she was looking forward to, she loved the peace and quiet here while I went to Memphis. We've decided not to tell my idiot sister and her son that I'm not going so me and Mom will spend the week together here, cooking together every night! That will be as much fun to me, I'm a "Momma's boy" and happy as can be spending time with her. Life is short but Datsuns last forever.

Electric Servos Instead Of Vacuum Driven HVAC
As disappointed as I am with myself I can't afford the expenses. Birmingham to Dallas Fort Worth round trip, a week at the motel and most important a week without income. I'm sorry that I can't make it but I've tried to work it from side to side and top to bottom and there's just no extra cash at this point in my life. I'll be keeping up with the festivities and hope everyone post as many photos as they can to the forum. I know how much fun you guys will have comparing it to the great time i had in Memphis. I just can't drive that far, New Orleans is as much driving as I can stand and that's six hours worth of bad interstates. My dentures would shatter to pieces.

Sounds like Bart, "hello, Moe's bar. I'm looking for a Mr Jablowme, first name Haywood. Hey everybody looking for a Haywood Jablowme, anybody? Haywood Jablowme?"

Hello from across the pond! Searching for a 240z
Super nice picture with your Dad! Would that be considered a "moat"?

ZCON 2017 Update
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where they didn't have his reservation for a nice car. Gave him a Pinto or something and asked if he wanted the insurance, "yes, I'm going to destroy that car"

My bad! You've already got that fixed. I'm outta here...

'73 240z - Console Clean-Up
One more thing, if you don't want to do this again get the choke holder plate that mounts to the tunnel instead of the console. Google "art singer 240z choke mount". $30 on ebay and works fantastically.

240Z steering wheel with horn button
I'm sorry but I can't. He asked me what a series 1 with the solid spokes and a series 2 with the holes would be worth about a month ago. I had no idea and haven't heard from him since. I've tagged him for you, that's all I can do. Hopefully he still has them and will respond to the notification. I hope you two can get together on this.

'73 240z - Console Clean-Up
When I filled in my cracks with it I put that blue painters tape on the topside of the console then filled in with the abs glue from the backside. Let it dry overnight and pulled the tape off. To get the textured look I wet a q-tip with a little abs and dabbed it on the topside. Try it on the backside where its not seen or a piece of cardboard I guess would work for practice. Be careful of q-tip cotton strands sticking. Thinking about it now a cheap artist brush would be better for the texturing. Practice first! That crap is hard to deal with once it dries. If you have a cracked console use some fiberglass mat with the abs glue. Put some abs down then push the mat down on the wet glue. Then completely cover the mat with the glue. Be sure and do it on the backside of the console though. That stuff dries really fast so take that into consideration. I have some pictures on my lap or you could google "console repair siteunseen classiczcars.com" and most likely find the thread. Good luck.

anybody watch Archer?
Another reason to watch EVERYTHING, an obscure reference to one of my all time favorites Fandango that nobody's seen. The movie is about college guys going back to get a bottle of Dom Perignon they buried in the desert next to a rock they scratched "DOM" into.

anybody watch Archer?
Archer's Mom gave him a Challenger classic car for his birthday and it got stolen. He thought the Yakuza was the gang that stole his high end car, but they weren't. It wasn't a "drift car" and that's all they stole. They had some 510s too. EDIT: WRONG, mazda RX2 From wikia.com Mr. Moto (the name used for the Yakuza boss voiced by George Takei), was a Japanese secret agent character, subject of many movies, novels, and winking references in cartoons and other shows. In the chase scene, Mr. Moto is driving a Datsun 240Z. Pam calls the Yakuza "used panty vending machine sons-of-bitches!", in reference to vending machines in Japan which sell panties purportedly worn by Japanese schoolgirls. (According to Snopes , it's true that these vending machines did exist, but it's not clear if they still do.)

anybody watch Archer?
I've seen a 432 rhd drift car the Yakuza had and last night he threw a guy off the rooftop onto a Datsun Honeybee. Kinda neat writing for an adult cartoon I enjoy watching.
