Reconstructed title surprise
I've never seen a gauge on the sending unit, maybe the interior one flaked out? What happened with e-bay, didn't reach the reserve? Couldn't find anything from e-bay but did see these. Electrical help needed- gauges not working - battery/alternator issue??
I lost all my gauges when my alternator started "back charging" on my 1972. That caused the fuse to blow as soon as I turned on the key so check for a blown fuse too but it sounds like the alternator needs replacing to me. Seems like the internal regulator had gone bad on the alternator I had. You could stop by an auto parts store and have them test it, quick and easy.

Reconstructed title surprise
It looks to me like it may be a flood/water damaged car, all the interior's rusted bits and pieces. The lines all look straight on the pictures you've posted but it's had a color change and newish interior carpet and seats. We have a few members from everywhere you might get to look it over, wherever it's located or take it to an Import shop that is familiar with the older Zs and have them look it over. In my quick view I'd say $3,000, around or about. Good luck whatever you do.

Yes! That Lardassian is some kind of ET. Maybe Extra Trunk?

Shoulder belt
I leave my shoulder belt hooked to the lap belt and hang it from that plastic tensioner like you do.

ZCON Austin roll call
It's an awesome sight to go out in the mornings and see a whole hotel parking lot filled with Zs. I'll never forget my first morning in Memphis. Guys and gals sipping coffee (Kahlua mixed) and polishing their cars, so quite and peaceful. It was nice.

Fuel rail alternative on a 1973 240Z?
Are y'all using radiator shrouds? I ask because I went for a quick drive between storms and left it running, popped the hood. I have a full plastic shroud off a 280 and it blows air between the thermostat housing and the distributor across the header runners, pushing the heat back and away. I can only imagine how it flows when I'm driving but they do have a nice opening in the front. That's how mine seems to stay cooler? Just an idea I thought I could mention but I honestly don't know if it's a hard restart or a running problem you guys are having. Best of luck anyway.

cold startup without AAR, real world experience wanted
The coolant lines are easy to block, it's those two vacuum hoses coming off that thermal vacuum switch you have to deal with. I just pulled all that stuff off when I rebuilt mine, the BPT valve and the EGR.

ZCON Austin roll call
This will be the fourth one he's bought since 1975, they work fantastic. He runs one all night and the other all day, 10 boxes 60lbs to 70lbs each of pork shoulders, 600-700 lbs a day they sale. The back pit is for chicken and ribs, use them both at Thanksgiving and Christmas smoking turkeys. His look like this "through the wall model". You load and unload inside the restaurant but the fire box is outside. Family owned since 1975, https://www.facebook.com/pruettsbbq/ I thought we were going this morning but he talked to the guy in Texas and they have a special flatbed truck with a boom lift for delivering. Stan worked a deal where he's going to give them the old one and cut the delivery price down to less than I would go for. So I'm not getting a quick $1,000 for 20 hours on I-20 and my teeth rattled out into the floorboard. That's a rough interstate.

ZCON Austin roll call
I'm going to Mesquite Texas in the next day or so to pick up a $20,000 Oyler bar b que pit made by J&R Manufacturing. But unable to make ZCON. I'll leave a trail of empty beers to find my way back just in case.

To buy or not to buy...that is the question
I called my nephew's son my grand nephew and he thought he was something special. He called me his grand uncle! Get that car, quick or it'll be gone then your riding the hobby horse. Just kidding but that really is a neat 240, white with red interior. Not too common.

cold startup without AAR, real world experience wanted
I live in North Alabama and keep mine in my garage. I deleted everything but the AAR so I'm not able to give real life experience without it but I can say for certain that mine never gets cold enough to open the passage inside for a h higher rpm. It always starts at 1,000 rpm, where I have it set. I honestly can not remember ever having a temporarily higher rpm on cold days. I start mine and hold it at 1,200 until the oil pressure gauge gets 3/4s then blast off. I do know not to hammer down until the thermostat opens and flows coolant freely. Read a couple of people getting on their's hard when cold and blowing out a freeze plug. If it were mine I would leave it off and see how it acts. You can always put it back in the loop of hoses. FWIW

280z Rear Suspension clunk
Did you replace the differential mount? Those cause a lot of the thunks on Zs.

Engine only runs with starter fluid
If his needles are shorter wouldn't that mean the nozzles should be higher than the 2.5 turns we normally do or lower?

RIP Greg Allman
Chris Connell too. He had one of the best voices I've ever heard, Ronnie James Dio said "the best" and Dio's an all time great in my opinion.

Hatchback and sun louver
My '77 has hinges at the top with shallow screws and spring loaded barrel latches at the bottom, also shallow screws. They were designed to be able to unhook the bottom and raise them off the rear window for cleaning, hinged louvers. The good thing about these is you can take out four screws on the top hinges and remove the whole assembly. Something similar to this but black of course.

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Beautiful picture of your car. Another castle with a moat! Americans would be riding jet skis around something like that you know. Now can you tell me if you put a Schneider 270/280 .460 cam kit in your car? I tagged Lumens the other day thinking it as him but I realize now it maybe was your car. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions, through private message. Thank you, Cliff

Engine only runs with starter fluid
Is that something you chose to do or you have to do? To me that seems like there is a problem. Could your choke pull handle mount be loose on the console? There's a better mounting plate on ebay that'll get it off the console and way stronger, more pulling power. I can't figure out how to drop the nozzles then pull the choke cable? Seems like the other way around would work better? Good luck, I'm curious for the fix. 8^)
