  1. I can't figure out how to route the hoses without hooking in the rear of the head. I'm trying to look stock. Thanks Zed!
  2. Rustoleum has flat black oil at lowes. It's for outside wrought iron.
  3. Thank You! I need to restore them, faded aluminium BAD but they look really cool for that era car. Add some curb feelers and I'm back in the '70s.
  4. Not sure what you're getting at? Gloss is shiny flat isn't. Mixing them together gives different levels of sheen. Latex is house paint, I wouldn't consider that for a dash it'll get soft when it's hot. What about a bedliner type paint? I've read a bunch of people using that with good results.
  5. Take gloss oil and flat oil, mix 50/50 for semi gloss. Then 33/66 for satin or less for matte. I've had great results that way. You should google first but I'm almost sure thinning with denatured alcohol will flatten it out even more.
  6. I used that same high heat bbq paint on my first rebuild. It almost looks dark chocolate to me.
  7. The potential mess, damage to electrical n that area. Whatever the rad cap's max is. With that valve closed it completely bypasses the rear of the head by closing the path through the core. I don't need heat but it looks cheap without those hoses and a plugged off head hose. I'm getting close to my first car show! Don't want some prick pointing out MY problems. People with no car are the mouthy critics, penis holsters.
  8. I have those same hinged and barrel bolt louvers that came on my 280. Do you think they're the same for a 240? I like them because of the period correct aspect and the ease of raising them to clean the hatch glass. I'm wanting them on my 240. What do you think on fitment? Thank you for an opinion.
  9. I bought my car with a bad valve and Gates heater hoses that were bent so bad they pinched themselves off. All new Nissan pre bent hoses and valve ready to go on but I'd like to check the heater core for cracks/leaks while it's in the car. Thought about temporary hoses to fill it with water then either applying negative pressure with a vacuum or positive with my air blowing attachment on my air compressor. Any thoughts on trying something like this? Thanks for any advice. Cliff
  10. No engineer here but the ball/cup at the bottom of the shifter would be too high and not engage the gears. A ZX shifter with the plastic sides would be a short throw on a wide B. I had one on mine for a minute, tore the inner rubber boot and my knuckles hit the radio.
  11. And the first, is it behind the curtain at the video store?
  12. Finally! It's in and makes a little static noise when I push the power knob, green light and illumination lights work. That was tough for me, I'm the bull in a china shop so not breaking any plastic was a miracle. Thanks again to Dr Dave Morales for putting me on the right path. Until his post I was going at it blind. Here's a crappy picture from a crap phone. Console will have to wait until tomorrow, it's 3 hours past Miller Time.
  13. Mike I'll just try a restore for a couple of weeks ago and see if it changes back to the way it was. Thanks again.

Those look great to me but have you tried your phone's camera without flash then email to yourself and save it to your PC? That works for me when I shoot something lighted. Thanks for posting those. That's the 5 panel led without the top panel, so 4 leds and you still have to dim them down some. Good to know!
  18. I like them painted the body color too.

Scratch that idea! I'm a long way from tackling this project so I won't muddy the water anymore in my head. After reading I realize this will require pulling the gauges to get those little green lenses out. For now I'll get 4 miniature bulbs for the three gauges in the middle plus the glove box. They have 4 watt bulbs on hand at my local Advanced Auto. Thanks for everybody's input and for the envy I have now, I'm talking to you Dr Dave! And I can't imagine not doing what Captain O did with the third bulb on the speedometer, that dim top right is so "Obvious" to me now. These are from 2011, member Ty Marbry. I think his are a bit too bright, I'll definitely get the warm white.

I want to start a new topic with LED pictures from the members who've done the swap and I will when I fire the old laptop up. Already have Dr Dave's and Tomohawk's to start it off.
  21. Carefully use the red straw to the sides, don't get wd-40 on the belt if you can help it or you'll have oily stains on your Sunday/sunny dresses. I did it to my 240s bottom one. Good luck!
  22. @Diseazd just did that zwap on a '73 he has. He can tell you what Chickenman said, I like to get as much info as I can though.

Well done! Your's looks great, all over. I have a '77 thats still original but for the motor. I deleted a bunch of stuff for pollution, we don't have the inspection here, yet. That's next, I want it for my daily driver but I want it nice but can't afford the price at this time.
  24. They tied it up with the election in France, which Poot-in lost. Fargin cork soaker.

Isn't that the truth! That rheostat is pretty much an off/on in my '72.
