  1. To all our American friends I just want to extend (edit) my best wishes, here's hoping the next 4 yrs in politics are pleasantly boring and average. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness to each and every one of you.
  2. I thought that looked familiar, I recognized my outdoor work bench.
  3. Thank you Mike, and thanks for this site. It is unique and the total knowledge is extremely helpful to us all. Some here are more "expert" than others. I go for the information and try ignore the editorializing. I have learned more about my car than I ever thought possible. Cheers, Mike
  4. The C3 280z description... Doesn’t not run So it does run I guess.. maybe that can’t get it to stop running Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Totally agree! And i've seen it also, Man.. that lady gaga can sing hey!! 👍
  6. Haha!! Actually it was an accidental hit. I was joking that maybe you were printing something more green. On your printing press in the basement.
  7. Thanks, but No Thanks. I waded into the corporate world of banking and manufacturing when I was younger. I started to run into superiors? that asked me for a loyalty oath. That told me all I needed to know. Long story short, I found that creating something with my mind and hands, as well as treating others as US rather than THEM , to be far more satisfying than chasing money and power.
  8. I wanted to give a compliment to the caliber and quality of people that are regular contributors to this forum. Seems like many other car forum just don’t have the magic this one has. I have a 20 yr old Dodge Viper that was given to me by my father before he passed away a few years ago. It sat for at least 5 years in his barn so once I got it here it needed some TLC but ran great. This week I took it out to get inspected and then went and ran it pretty hard. As I pulled in the driveway I got a Check Engine light. My OBD2 reader flagged a #2 misfire. Well, I went and posted on one of the Viper forums expecting a similar group of folks as we have here on CZCC and wow what a disappointment. Some of the folks on there are pricks, providing snarky comments that just turned me off. Won’t ever post on there again. This is why some other forum die. They don’t welcome new members and provide marginal help with excess useless comments. So, this forum is great because we have great people here and like many of you I appreciate that and glad to be part of it. Happy New Years by the way! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. It's been like a 4 year bee sting. Nothing debilitating buy annoying as hell. It'll take about a month for the swelling to go away and then I can get back to working in my garage and back to normal day to day boredom. Seinfeld in the morning, not the news. That can wait until the evenings again. Biden will go to bed, not tweet all night.
  10. Just a thought as to why the Viper people were so off-putting. I've noticed different cars attract different sorts of people - stereotypes essentially. Think of the Civic owner clichés as an example. One of my buddies was always enamored by hearses and when he got one, he met some other hearse owners and all of them were just as delightfully eccentric as he. I don't know how to describe the Z-car scene, but, yes, most everybody does seem to be welcoming, helpful and all around nice (for lack of a better word). Maybe that's just the sort of people who are attracted to the Z, for some reason or another. And if I had to wager a guess, I'd imagine Viper people may tend to be a bit more... aggressive, to put it nicely. That's not to say "Viper owner = a-hole", only that there's a trend in the statistics. Whatever the rhyme of reason may be, Z people are my kind of people ❤️
  11. Today i got the delivery from the guys at Sandstrahlen-plus.ch which i can really recommend if you're in switzerland... They had my complete chassis blasted (except the roof and a few areas i will replace anyway) and primered. The job is very nice if you ask me and it looks so much better with all the car in one colour, rather than twelve different layers of primer, bondo, paint, rust protection, etc.. in various states... Remember, this is how it looked a few weeks ago... Luckily the process didnt' reveal any new problems, only the bad repairs of yesteryear and the rusty spots i already new and have replacement panels for... $ I also made this little "unboxing" gif whlie unwrapping the car and thought it was fun to share...
  12. 1 point
After replacing all bearings and seals I set the Diff up as best I could for backlash and then took it it up to a Diff specialist that I have used a few times before, they got wipe pattern set perfectly.
  13. Some plating companies will do everything for you, clean, buff and plate but it's a much safer bet to prep everything before you send it to them for plating. The plating layer is very thin and hides nothing so for the best results clean and buff your pieces before you send them. A bench mounted wire wheel makes fast work of everything except for the heaviest rust.
  14. I must admit, the thought did cross my mind. Especially with access to the supplies. Back to the loyalty oath. It had nothing to do with security. On the contrary, it had everything to do with insecurity.
  15. Just heard these on the radio. David Byrne has a Youtube channel. I need to explore...
  16. Wow, you're good. Check printing, credit card embossing along with all the paperwork that banks used back then. Curiously, later on as I tried other occupations, I ran into that same loyalty oath in the upper management. That was one of the things in my life that drove me to study Behavioral Psychology. I found the answers to a lot of "Abby Normal" behavior there.
  17. Toubles come and they will pass
  18. A Banker!? I would've never guessed that.
  19. Jay Ataka at jdm-parts.com has a kit in stock. Contact him about it.
  20. Gents, I am to read a bunch of compliments about how this website is unique and helpful. I'm stepping in because we seemed to divert into a name calling spree with finger pointing at "who did it" ... Please respect each others' opinion and move on with the topic at hand. We are a classic Z forum and a community of like-minded individuals. With all the crazy $^!# going on in the world right now, the least we can do is respect each other and act humanely. That said, I agree this forum is very unique. It serves a small portion of the massive car communities around the world. When you talk about the Classic Z, this place fits an important part of history. Without guys like us, this car would be just another metal box on wheels forgotten in time. That, I am proud of. Thanks, Mike
  21. These forums would get a lot more interesting if they became Zoom meetings. Although on second thought, I'm sure it would then quickly descend into what every webcam-based chat room eventually succumbs to... We're lucky to have people on a public forum with passion and knowledge which they are willing to share. People come from various backgrounds and cultures which is difficult to see behind a keyboard. If we all took things a bit more light-heartedly, we wouldn't get so offended all the time. I'm always up for a passionate debate as long as it's backed by clarity, fastidiousness, and humility. A lack thereof creates an incongruity in the discussion which, especially on the internet, can cause the other party to get defensive and petty. This either results in the other party (a) eventually putting their ego aside and realizing why the discussion went awry or (b) "stone the troll". YMMV
  22. I like it here too.
  23. Thanks. Yep I put a new pug in yesterday no change. The plug looked terrible. Today I’ll swap wires from a different cylinder if that doesn’t work then trying the coil pack. I got a funny story about this car. So when my Z arrived at my Mom’s house after I towed it from Memphis. I had to get both cars stuffed into my the barn. The Viper had a dead battery so I pushed it out, and beyond the door the grass was thick and at least 8” tall. I had to push it far enough to get the Z in . After getting the Z in I realized the Viper was stuck in the grass and wouldn’t move. I had few options and was running low on time so I tied a tow strap between the cars and the Z after an recent awakening from.20 year comma pulled a 20 year old Viper back into the barn. That Z engine’s last contribution before I pull it out that engine. Quick update. Had to wait to buy the garage lift to stack these cars, Z still in the barn 2.5 hrs away. Covid set production back and finally I will pick it up at the end of the month (when I sit hits standby for work in Greensboro) . Then the Z will finally arrive to begin it transformation. Side note, Mom’s barn was broken into recently, they took the Z keys, pulled off the charger and tried to start it. Cover was off and door ajar. Good thing the clutch slave cylinder was dead and the clutch wouldn’t engage. Guess I had a leak on the line that might have saved the car. Car was also full of mold, so I’m not happy. Barn is somewhat isolated from the house. Maybe a football field away. See pics. Last pic is both cars in the barn the day I towed the Viper in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
