  1. I had to decide let this Skyline GTR Mikuni 40 go to help a little bit for buying a set of 44 . They are totally original, not restored. I added re-plated brackets for the fuel pipe. Not related to the carburetor , I found this page , my blue 240Z was chosen for Mr.K and Mike , that was an autumn 2000 .Mike got the wheel , Mr. K was a navigator. Kats
  2. Hi , a 1970 Z432 , PS30- 00243 is now on Yahoo Japan auction. ■昭和45年 日産 フェアレディ Z432 オプション多数付の車両・マグホイール箱入り付!! https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t690389765 Kats
  3. They do look good! Now you should weigh them and make them the same. Seems like mine were 700 something grams each, cap and rod together. Just remembering how I did that and I may have the number wrong. I had to weigh a railroad spike and write that down then hang the spike on the scales and weigh the pistons. Added those two numbers together I believe was what I did.
  4. Could also be that the detent balls (check and interlock) in the adapter plate are damaged, or the notch in the shift rod. They are supposed to hold the forks in the proper position in each gear, and neutral. That fork is way out of alignment.
  5. If the fork isn't broken from hard shifting, "abby normal", premature wear usually comes from resting one's hand on the shifter while driving.
  6. Agreed. Those pistons look fine to me.
  7. Time flies , it is an honor to have them in my car . I really thank Mr. K and Mike brought me to the ZCON 2000 and 2004 . 17 Japanese Z owners took their cars to the ZCON . Kats
  8. 1 point
Here are some (probably has 20 of them) from the z man of washington .... Shipping could be interesting. https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pts/d/snohomish-auto-trans-datsun-cars/7031022697.html
  9. You let Mike drive your car? You are crazy lol.... fair play to you! All three of you are great guys!
  10. Look at post #9. They can wear out. Too much hard shofting maybe.
  11. A lot of us are also interested whether this type of 'non-industrial' grade spot welder can deliver a decent result for joining a pair of light-gauge panels. Perhaps when you take delivery, you can take it for a test run with some 20 and 18-gauge scrap and post some pix of your results.
  12. It's been a long time since I last did this job. Obviously, a box-end wrench is preferable to an open-end. You might consider buying an appropriate-length, decent-quality box end and then modifying it to fit. For this job, I think you should be able to get away with grinding the thickness of the box down by at least 50% in thickness. You can probably also get away with taking at least a millimeter off the outside diameter of the box. Hopefully, you'll be able to take it down to the point where you can get it to slip over the nut. You might also need to put a bend or two into the shaft to get the right approach angle. Try not to put too much heat into the end of the wrench while you're grinding away. You want to preserve the temper of the steel as much as possible.
  13. I have picked the sports option exhaust manifold up at Suzuka circuit auction hall . Here is some comparison. With this exhaust , I have decided to get Mikuni 44 type 2 , as listed in a Z432-R sports option catalog . I will show you more detail about it here when it arrives . Kats
  14. Thanks Kats, that is interesting. I have to say I like seeing the same interior colour in a race car as the exterior. I see a lot of white interiors on race cars too, often so oil spills or other fluid leaks can be spotted easily (or at least that's the reason I'm told it's done). But this is just another small detail of the Z432-R I was not aware of. On the topic of different trim level Z432-R's, this car (and I don't recall the chassis no. I'm afraid) really catches my eye. I love it's completely bare bones / raw look. NB: The straight gear stick and the Topy steel wheels are just begging to be changed to some kind of racing spec wheel, but I love it like this. I'd love to drive it around on the steelies, since it just has that weekend racer look. In Australia Bathurst was a famous racing circuit and track because anyone could enter off the street. You could walk into a local dealer buy the hotted up version of whatever car it was you wanted to race and then go from the show room to the race track with it. Many did, and drove on steel wheels (but removed hubcaps). So it has that sort of appeal to me.
  15. Hi Gavin , I just don’t know . Maybe to concentrate on driving . Thinking about Z432-R , no insulates thick pad on the fire wall , and if you cut the glove box half like Mr.Katori’s car , you will have bright orange in your site . To delete uneasy feeling , Z432-R has those black paint . Here is a excerption from the race manual , you see the black paint “ Dashboard and front floor “ on the far right of the row . This auction car PS30-00289 should have black paint , it was registered 04/1972 as a ( standard ) Z432-R , not for racing . While Mr.Katori’s PS30-00186 was not registered when it was born , because this car was meant to be used as a race car . PS30-00186 looks no black paint on the front floor , and under dashboard area . This could be a interesting point talking about the difference between race car and standard Z432-R . I think standard Z432-R is very accurate for the race manual which is describing Z432-R specification . Kats
  16. Hey everyone, I have finally decided to join this forum. I'm currently restoring my 72 240z and will create a thread soon detailing my build. I bought my 240z late June in 2017 in South Carolina and started an extensive restoration. Like most people, I thought it was a much easier task and had no idea the amount of work and time needed. Having said that, I absolutely do not regret that decision and can't wait to finish it. I believe this forum will help me answer all my questions and concerns. I would like to give a big thank you to grannyknot as he has been a crucial figure helping me through out this build and I'm fortunate to live close to him ?
  17. Green is just a yellow car feeling blue....
  18. Hey guys and gals, I’m a new member but have grown up addicted to z cars. Thanks for the add, I look forward to having some great conversations. Here’s a picture of my ‘75 280z which I’m in the process of painting. Also tightening up some odds and ends I don’t want to say restoring because I drive it a few days out of the week and it’s in a lot better shape than any I’ve seen around me. But it’s my pride and joy! I also have another ‘75 Only a few vin numbers apart but it does in fact need a full restoration. So needless to say I’ve got my hands full! -please give my instagram page dedicated to my cars a follow! @jones30_ -also my personal Instagram page! @jonesyjdm The copper z is my main car the blue z is my project
