[2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Well it was not that bad but the state of the power grid is a shocker. ~ 70% to 80% of the province is out. Lovely privatization and build to lowest price and max profits.... we are running internet modem on a deep cycle battery. I'll try to pick up a solar charger to keep it going. A lot of branches down but the Z's and other cars in the yard are fine ?7 points

Failed CO emissions - all controls removed - where to start?
I just noticed something odd, but can't be sure. It looks like the pressure gauge might be on the return line to the tank. It should be between the fuel filter and the rail. Not really sure how the pressure would vary with the vacuum hose connected if it is on the return line, but worth double checking. Maybe the FPR is connected incorrectly.2 points

ZCON 2020 Location Confirmed?
2 pointsWell after jumping through a few hoops I'm here. I am planning on attending the Z Con in 2020 and I have a year to find a Zed. Yes I'm Canadian please don't hold it against me if I don't shop for Zee. If I don't find a Zed maybe a kind person will allow me to ride shotgun if there is a road tour activity.2 points

Hope you guys are all OK!! And when I heard Alabama was going to get hit, I was worried about you too. Thankfully, however, it was just the fake news and you guys were never in danger.2 points

Opinions on Z
1 pointMidwest salt belt car, sat for years, quite a bit of visible corrosion, Poor fit on hood - see trailing edge seam at cowl, needs new bumpers, needs tires, not sure why they refer to the exterior color as "Avacado", the car has been stored for 35 years which means the engine swap and repaint happened sort of early in its life. Appears to have been "rode hard and put away wet" as they say with neglected horses. I think I'd keep looking. Dennis1 point

Be very careful removing the cam sprocket. If you let slack into the chain the tensioner will pop out and it will require a lot more disassembly!1 point

Randomly lose power when driving
1 pointI'm thinking with jonbill on this. Sounds exactly what my 240 did when first bought. The tank was full of crud. After it all settled back down it ran great for about 15 minutes. Buy a fram g2 for a couple of dollars and next time it happens put it on and see if it runs better.1 point

It is too rocky here to do underground cost effectively.... we had a hurricane hit 15 years ago that did much more damage but I guess it groomed the area of weak trees. A construction crane toppled but landed on an empty building so all was good. Power is back on ?1 point

4spd transmission synchroniszer early Z
Until last week I'd never heard of these folks, and I was ready to spend $20 EACH plus shipping, for 4 parts. Their website turned-up when I searched the part#. NOTE: It's important to search the part#; using the home page Mfr/Year filter didn't show ANY parts for pre 1980 Zs. Also note, the web price (~$8 at this moment) is slightly higher than at the counter (see counter receipt below).. They said they also sell bearings. I hope to drop F4W71A trans soon and promise to post-back regarding whether these actually work.? https://www.anaheimgear.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=32604-P01001 point

The factory system probably won't like the schneider cam. Schneider offers a lot of different cams. You will need to try to pin that down further1 point

Spring trip to Japan
1 pointHi all, just wanted to post some status of my trip to Japan. I was able to meet @kats and we took a drive in his Fairlady Z432. Man what a great car! It’s in great shape and Kats knows how to take car of his cars. We met in Kyoto as I arrived, with my family, to our hotel. Kats lives about 30 minutes away from Kyoto and drove the car up just to visit with me. He has 4 Z’s and asked me which one I wanted to see (and drive). Since I’ve never seen a Z432, it was an obvious choice. We spent about 20-30 minutes ogling the car before he let me drive it around the block. I don’t have an international drivers license, so he took the controls and we went for an extended drive around the city. I’ll post more about my observations when I am able to sit down at a computer, but I wanted to share a few pics. What a great time, and I wanted to personally thank Kats for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with me. As you can see, it’s springtime in japan and the cherry blossoms are in full effect!1 point

Fuel Pump Bullet Connector Location?
Could be either but it looks from your photo that they may have been cut off by a po. After you have spliced in your cutoff with proper connectors have a look at the rest of the wires in that section, eliminating as many of those crimp connectors as possible is always good policy.1 point

1977 280Z Voltage gauge "Always On?"
I am new to this forum and to the Z community, and in need of some help. I am currently rewiring my Z from a complete "Hack" job the previous owner did. 1. The original engine compartment wiring harness has been replaced with one from an automatic transmission model (mine is a 5 speed manual). Will this make any difference? I did find a few modifications that i had to make, ie...bypass starter relay, reroute inhibitor switch wire to back-up lamp switch, etc... 2. Is the Voltage Gauge supposed to be "Always On" even when the car is off and key removed from ignition switch? If so, wont that drain the battery? And, Is there a modification that will only allow it to be on when the key is turned to the on position (not acc). 3. When changing to an '82 model alternator, will the brake warning relay modification (yellow wire to Green-Blue stripe) have any effect on the fuel pump itself? 4. The 4 fusable links in the engine compartment have been replaced with custom "home made" ones. What is the correct gauge wire for these? And is there a specific type of wire that needs to be used? Thanks in advance for any/all the help! Also, A major THANKS! to the member who took the time to create a color wiring diagram for our Z's. It made my rewiring job so much easier and faster.1 point
