[2019] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?

At the Z barn:

• Helped my buddy get a 73 going that sat for 5 years.  Runs great now.  Clogged fuel bowls, fuel needle valve blocked, missing internal carb spring, weak return springs, fuel pump failed, timing was at 10ATDC and vacuum leaks
• Picked up a fuel pump that matches the type in the very early FSM's
• Enjoyed a great view at the barn on the mountain and time with great friends... even saw a 1969 LA police car #12 stored there.

I go to a lot of car shows here in Pittsburgh on the weekends, I am usually the only Z of any kind and most times the only foreign car.  On Saturday I attended a show held by the local aeronautics school at the county airport.  The control tower is the main building and is't an art deco design so I photographed the car in front of it.  Hope you like,

Burned up some older fuel this morning.  Refilled with fresh at a busy gas station/McDonald's and had 3 experts tell me what my car was worth.  Small town stuff.  Get a quart of oil and a Quarter Pounder in one place.  Also free Z appraisals. ?

How close were they to what it's really worth?

Way off, $5,000.

Told me where they could buy one for a few thousand. "Here's my phone, call them and I'll buy it today".  Then didn't know was it a 2.4, 2.8, Z or ZX.  Oh yeah also said no way was the paint original.  That's when I quit being polite.  its too hot to argue with rednecks.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Sometimes it's kinda fun, other times not.  Had a guy at a gas station walk up when I had the hood up.  He looked at the engine like he knew what it was and then asked " Is that one of them rotary motors?"  I just closed the hood and said gotta go!

I've learned a lesson today. No more sharing info at a gas station. Just with you guys.
