Does anyone have the part number for the Nissan fan clutch that will work with the plastic fan on my 240z? I can't seem to find it in the Nissan FAST system.

I want to turbo my L28 280z fuel injection, i found turbo kits on ebay but it says 280zx, does that mean i need a 280zx engine? I thought that they used the same block? Just trying to figure out if i can buy it and bolt it on or if i need to do a whole engine swap? You probably need more information, please get back to me and tell me what else you need so i can figure this out! Thanks ~Brett

I have a question on the blow-by or crankcase fumes coming out of the top of the valve cover on my car. I noticed that the car doesn't burn any oil or smoke at all when the hose is disconnected from the air intake. The amount of 'steam' coming out of the valve cover starts out as almost none at all, to lightly and steadily rising out like a kettle with the lid open coming close to boil. It comes out steady and not in puffs with each stroke. It also steams out the oil disptick tube if you pull the dipstick. When connecting the hose to the air intake, the car noticably idles rougher, and the exhaust gets a little stinky and it smokes a little on throttle. Smells like o…

I was removing the spark plugs for a compression test and here is what I found: Carbon/dry, sooty deposits on all 6 plugs = too much gas/problem with the injectors...? Plugs no.2 and no.5 were oil fouled = worn piston rings or worn/improperly seated valve guides. Are my diagnosis above correct? Am at least headed in the right direction? If so, what do I need to do all of those jobs; replace the vlave guides and piston rings, and, clean or replace the fuel injectors? This would be my first time pulling the head...so I have a few questions: Is there a book/manual for doing a ring and valve job? What other things should be replaced, inspected, etc, while the head is off? .…

For any of you that have 6 into 1 headers on your cars, do you know if it is possible to drop the tranny without taking the header off? I'd like to put in a 5 speed, but I want to do the exhaust first. However, if everything has to come back off, I might as well wait until I have all parts. Thanks. Todd

I am still troubleshooting my fuel system. History in the following post... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37722 I have a clean tank, new filters and I blew down the fuel lines. The car runs great 95% of the time but now and again it tries to die when idling. I pulled the return line (after the restriction orifice) and ran it into a gas can. I get lots of fuel flow from the return line but it spits and pops like I would expect it to look if the gas was boiling in the line. I'm running out of things to test but I thought I would try to take the mechanical pump out of the equation in case a blockage in the pump is causing an intermittent problem. …

I was going to adjust the valves on my 70 240 I bought last year. As a matter of course I checked the compression at the same time. The first 5 cylinders were 185 to 187 psi at a warm to touch engine. Number 6 was 160+ and the plug was white. Number 6 is obviously running too hot. No oil in the water or water in the oil. I did a variation of a leak down test and air came out number 4 plug hole. It doesn't appear to be a head gasket (or at least the typical failure), but I am not sure what it is. The valves did not seem really screwed up. Anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate it.

I have a L28 from a 83 280ZX for my 240Z. I have triple 45 from Top End Performance with TWM airbox and 3-2 headers in 2" with 3" exhaust in stainless steel. The head is N42 and will be ported to fit in/ out. I am not a " motorhead " and I have read a lot about this but will also try to ask for some advice. My goal with this engine is good power also with low rpm - and the questione is what type of camshaft and spec should I go for. I feel that I am lost in a "technical" jungel with this cam issue:stupid: This car will only be a street car. Thank you for your time rab
