So it was discovered upon beginning repair of a leaking exhaust manifold gasket that my '72 has an old aftermarket header on it. It's a 6-2-1 so it's got two 3-bolt flanges where the header meets the 2-1 collector and that's where it was leaking. Neither the shop nor I have any idea what brand it is, but it has (plugged) air injection ports at the cylinder head flange end, so whatever type it is it was a legit aftermarket replacement. Anyone dare to venture a guess as to what brand it may have been or how old it is? Doesn't matter, I'm just curious.

Does anyone know off hand what the tightening torque should be for the header nuts on a 75 280? Also, wonder if there would be any problem with using stainless steel nuts and washers on the factory studs? I've searched the FSM and found the specs for the intake but not the exhaust. Bryan

Hello guys A friend of mine has a L24E (810 motor) that is sitting on his property. This next week I'm going to be replacing the oil pan gasket on my L28E (280z) and I'm wondering if the two oil pans are interchangeable. I was going to remove one (off the 810) clean and paint it and put it on when I replace mine. Thanks Jan

I have a late '73 (7/73 I believe) with an L28 and an electric fuel pump. The power for the pump, which is located in the engine bay, comes off the ignition coil feed. I would like to reroute this so that there is no parasitic drain off the distributor current, and I'd also like to put in a cutoff for safety and theft purposes. Does anyone have a suggestion where I should intercept the harness so that can put kill switch in the cab, and still have it switched to the ignition? Thanks.

i had a 78 stock engine and tranny combo and then removed the engine for an f54 flat top with a fidanza flywheel, i chose to reuse the previously good clutch and pp with some issues lining up the old pp to the flywheel. upon start up there is a slight squealing noise coming from the bellhousing and when i depress the pedal the noise is gone. once warmed up the noise is constant with pedal depressed or not and have noticed rougher feel when engaging gears with reverse being a complete nightmare. i am leaning to the idea of the pressure plate being the culprit as it is the 225mm and i have recently been told the flywheel requires a 240mm. would that cause the squealing?

Ok, so I'm going to put the 4-speed and R180 I have up for sale since I don't intend to use them. Just to clarify, there is no way to readily identify the specific year or anything else about the gearbox based on the numbers stamped on it, right? I just have to say "Datsun 4-speed for sale" and go with it? Thanks, guys

I have a early jdm 5 speed from a 70 240z. it was mated with a L20a motor. I'm trying to figure out what the ballpark price would be. does anyone have an idea what it is worth?
