fuel rail and pressure regulator suggestions-78 280Z
Try clamping the return hose off. Needle nose Vise Grips with rubber hoses on them work for me. Don't completely close it off, work up a little at a time.

Make sure the nozzles are moving freely with the choke lever, up when off and down when lever is pulled back.

280Z Requires Starting Fluid for Cold Starts
Sorry to be late with this and it seems you have a plan already but you can read over it for the future. It's a brief description of the switch over he came up with. We may put mine on in Nashville next year. He said it's that simple. INSTALLING CATERA MAXIFUSE UNIT INTO A S30.pdf

Lightening of the flywheel
My aluminum one is 11lbs. No problems driving my end of the Appalachian Mountains. I stall it a couple of times backing up my driveway but that because I'm trying not to disturb my neighbors. It's kind of loud and raspy when you get the RPMs up.

L28 from 82 ZX teardown
I bought my from Nissan and they didn't have the extra metal. It's embedded into the rubber. Try bending one. The Felpro seals do have the extra metal nails Tom Monroe talks about.

total sudden electrical failure
On my car the alternator went out. It killed everything but it did burn that fuse you're talking about, in front of the shifter. Have you checked the spade plug on the starter? When suppertimes over Steve will figure out you problem.

total sudden electrical failure
It was actually my alternator. Popped the IGN fuse killing everything else.

total sudden electrical failure
My alternator killed my '72. No gauges moved when the ignition switch was in ON position.

280Z Requires Starting Fluid for Cold Starts
http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fusiblelinks/index.html I've obtained a Cadillac Cetera fuse box from a forum member. I've yet to install though but it works well and is inexpensive according to him and I trust him 100%. I will post the info when I crack open my laptop.

SS Bumpers from Vietnam
I will suggest googling "240 bumpers on 280 Eurodat classiczcars.com". Probably the best current thread we have. Also he has a '77 like yours. And they're in a large shipping box. If your travels take you anywhere near you could pick them up at his business.

Bending float tab direction - 3 screw SU
I bet he's remembering my post on how I came to realize I had almost no fuel in my chambers. I had starvation on my front carb driving up Mt Cheaha. I set my floats as the Ztherapy dvd suggested but they were using Grose jets when that video was shot. You can't do them that way with these needle valves. Just a guess though. I'm with you Mark, can't imagine setting proper levels going up a mountain.

What engine do I have?
There's a guy not far from me with 3 500 plus HP 240Zs. Two have LS1s the other an RB, supercharged, twin turbocharged, reinforced frames and suspension, plus Wilwood big brakes He regrets doing it now that the prices have gone astronomical for stock 240s. I can't remember his username right off but he is active, or was, on hybridz. He owns a tool supply distribution franchise and used those as his advertising. Here's some reading on high power Zs. https://www.google.com/search?q=500+hp+240z&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=500+hp+240z&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.6491j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
