240 Differentials
I bought from Black Dragon long ago. I still have a catalog too. The R200 will work in all of the years but did not come in the 240Z from the factory. It is stronger and also heavier. Other changes are needed to make it fit.

240 Differentials
The 240’s should all be R180s. The R200 came in the 280 and most 280zx. There were some zx that did get the R180’s though. I have a chart at home I can share if someone else doesn’t by the time I get home. (This would be for US spec cars) Lots of people put the R200 in the 240’s as well as some Subaru R160/R180’s

They look like they are spot welded.

Fresh air / inner fender wire duct
Well then I find my 78 car has open holes under the dash. Then has no openings up by the core support, just a small hole. Odd.

I think you might have a post Aug 1976 build ie a 1977 car. Those side vents are open on a 75-76 car with plastic inserts in the round plate area. These would be controlled with the knob/cable in you other post. There would also be a pleated plastic elbow in the front hole for a scoop type inlet. They must have changed the fresh air intake on the 77-78. I have a shell I can confirm this idea. The hinge plates look like the later 77-78 style. If you have a picture of the door jam latch that would confirm the later build date. Better yet the drivers door jam plate with the build month/year.

5/1970 240Z 03802
Hey Roo, I have a few radiators, and one metal fan. I have heard the metal fans came apart during use. Nissan then switched to plastic. The metal is great for a show car, but if you are going to drive this car, then I suggest a plastic. JMO.... mine is not for sale. Lots of other parts if you need something. Including the plastic fan set up. I picked up a number of wheel sets from a BAT leftovers purchase that came my way. I have a few sets in my stash too. Being you are nearby, shipping would be nil.

I can remember when there weren't really any Datsuns at the auction, they were all in the junk yard. Now I see a bunch of them at the auction, and hardly any at the junk yard. 3 in a week now..... A 77 280Z in Lynnwood, and a 68 PL520 truck in Lakewood, and the 76 I pillaged last Friday. I grabbed some nice dash parts out of the truck. Lynnwood is a little far for a midweek trip for me.

I did go down today, As it turns out the entire lower yard is closed and cleared of all cars. All the available cars (70 of them) are up on the hill just right of the office. I ran into Matt, the guy who bought the big brakes there, he was getting a 6sp transmission out of a BMW for a 510 car he has. (yellow car behind the Z) I picked a number of things until my wallet said stop. Here is what it looked like when I got there.

Humorously known as the monkey motion shifter.

I met some Datsun guys at the Tumwater PNP, they bought a 720 5sp transmission and it was on FB later that night for 7 times what they bought it for. He lost his 10mm socket too. 😂

PNP takes a pic of the car when they get it. Then they process it removing the wheels, oils and fuel, and place it in the yard on their stands. The wheels all go into the shop and are sold in sets for too much money. The car will be wheelless in the yard. You only find a few stock steelies and spares in the cars. Therefor someone who found this car would of course buy the struts and instantly post to FB for a tidy profit.

This just popped up as well from Portland, I wonder if these are off that car? They have the right patina. Hard to tell from the one picture.

I might just make the trip. I'm sure there are a lot of small trim pieces too. Portland has some car vultures though, these get picked over quick. I've been to that yard before. It is rather big. The worst part about it is huffing the parts back up the hill to the office. They got flooded out one year, I went all the way down and was turned away.

Pick N Pull won't sell it as a whole, It would just be bits and pieces.

71 series 2 console
When the factory started making changes there is always a threshold when some changes are in effect before others are. Like the vents. I have heard of a series 1.5, perhaps that is what yours is. Then there is the factor of what did the factory do as opposed to what some prior owner changed along the way.

I know the forum likes to look at nice clean restored cars up for sale for top dollar. But as the title states "and other places" Well here is a new one from the "other places" category. These don't show up in this venue too often anymore. In NW Oregon. https://row52.com/Vehicle/Index/RNDrpvNisqJIreOFPB3Q2FuZD

71 series 2 console
My guess would be the console change had everything to do with the transmission change from A style to B style. New shifter location.

Is there a fitting for this?
There were two different slave cylinders for these. Perhaps you have one of each? (I think one is NLA?) or one of each different hard lines maybe?

New clutch issue 280z
The 2+2 NA ZX and the ZXT both had a 240mm clutch the earlier and 2+0 NA ZX had a 225mm clutch. That kit reads to me like it fits both. To me that would mean Z Car Source was selling all 240mm clutches in the "kit" as they will fit the earlier cars, but not the other way around. IE: a 225mm clutch would not work well in the 2+2 or Turbo ZX. If you are dropping the transmission again ^^ it would be another item to check, 225mm vs 240mm. I put a 240mm in my 70 240, and used the ZX 2+2 collar, works fine.

Speedo gear seal replacement
Yes the 4 speed was at 12:00 and the ZX (generalization) was at 6:00. The pinion gear itself is the same for both but the holder was different as you noted. Cutting a slot was the least expensive way of application. The other option was to buy a new holder. You can still get them from Nissan. At least last I checked. As long as it doesn't leak you should be fine. No one can really see it with the car on the ground wheel side down. 😁

I did learn these SU's are H6 from a Triumph T3/T4 set up. Still no info on the manifold, might be a custom set up. They look very well made not something cobbled together.
