  1. I have this list. I had a better one but lost it and the page is no more. I should have saved a screen shot. Seems the 3:70 was short lived in the early ZX. I expect my car will have 3:90's R200 I'll find out when I get that far in. I am not saying this is 100% accurate, but my findings have not found any errors. I have the 810 Maxima 3:70 R180 in my car now. I have the Auto 3:54 too and 3:36 R180's I picked some 720 truck front's (1) 3:90 and (2) 4:11's I have never found the 4:37 or 4:62 all R180
  2. Chas, thanks for the info on your findings. I knew through my research of the 6 o'clock speedo drive, and the single hanger. there is also an eye shaped plate on one side near the rear. I have bought two ZX 2+2 transmissions and both had these features. I have not opened them as yet so I can not confirm internals. The recent one had some bearing cage bits on the drain plug magnet so I am sure to open that one up. The other went straight into my car. I also have two of the earlier 5sp's out of 280Z and see that they are like the one you described. I wonder if it is a Euro thing to have the wide in the 2+2?
  3. I have seen you mention this before. I can not find any data to support this info. Even Carl Becks site does not list this difference. My parts manuals don't show it either. Do you have some reference material you can point me to for the late 2+2ZX having the same as the late 280Z ratio's. I did find the early ZX had that same ratio and a short lived 80ZX had a similar "close" ratio to the the commonly sought after 81-83 (2+0 and 2+2)
  4. You may have determined this already but keep in mind any B/C trans will need the shifter hole enlarged some to accommodate the more rearward position of the shifter. Not by much but still an alteration. As Zed says worth more in the long run, unmodified. The 5 sp is nice for the highway speed runs. 4th is 1:1 on both the 4 and 5 speed. Makes the twisty back roads about the same. 1st-4th. I too have some 4Sp 71B transmissions and even a couple of 71A models. You can still find 5sp ZX cars but they are getting harder and harder to find, with the price going up some too. I bought one from Everett for $300 and have parted out most of it. (I am keeping the transmission.) Edit: this is in your neighborhood. looks like he just dropped the price. 83ZX 2+2 $100.00 https://offerup.com/item/detail/9f4db155-79df-305b-8fba-72401858e4ad?q=datsun&cid=5.1
  5. It looks like they have a J hook set up, some some linkage is there for the throttle. I can't tell if it is all there though. They also appear to have K&N backing plates, If you have the rest of the K&N set up that would suffice as an air filter set up.
  6. I was at work all day, looks like Steve answered your question. The earlier cars had this long pig tail box and the later 240's had a shorter pig tail. You'll see which one you have I am not 100% sure when that change was made. Same principle though. If your fuse box has melted terminals (common) the up grade is a good idea.
  7. I usually have to unplug the fuse box and associated wires. That will free up the cross bracket. Work it up and over the shifter in 2nd or 4th. Once up a little you can get under it and take off the two 8 mm nuts holding the choke bracket.
  8. Have you seen this new release from Nissan? https://global.nissannews.com/en/pages/all-news-archive Lots of Nissan News publications dating back to 1963. Some cool stuff in there. Here are some samples......
  9. Turn the knob all the way counter clockwise, gently until it stops. The push it in towards the dash and turn another 1/4 turn (or so) counterclockwise it will come off then. There is a washer like piece on the end and a spring inside. I have one i can show pic's of if you have any trouble.
  10. I changed it to 4.5. For the 240 police, fix it tickets I received. I will stay in 240z detention for the rest of the weekend. 🙄
  11. I quote the same line from your post "at all" Of course the 240s had a 240Z badge for 4.5 years, and the 260 had a 260Z badge for 1 year, and again the 280 had a 280Z badge for 4 years. The ZX had 280ZX badges until 82 I think then it said Datsun by Nissan, on the outside badge. It has always been Nissan Motor Co.
  12. The point of my post was to show the word Nissan and S30 were on both cars mentioned, not to sell a shoddy plate. I just grabbed the first picture that came up on eBay. If someone was looking for a plate I would send them your way no question.
  13. My 82 ZX parts car has a fairly decent lower fender section on the drivers side. Might be an option. Passenger side is toast.
  14. They should both have this badge, that says Nissan Motor Co LTD, and HLS30 (the S30 part) as the Type.
  15. His profile says he was on here about 2 hrs ago. So you get a 2 reputation for one unanswered post? Interesting.
  16. I have this one available. I washed some dirt off and gave it a quick polish. Not show quality but usable.
  17. I checked the website too, and there is nothing about closing up or shutting down. Seems odd that their phone message would be the only source of this info. I sent an email through the site but have not received any response.
  18. I purchased my Z from an Air Force office who gave me an affidavit stating the car was bought new from Del Pranke Datsun in Gresham OR on 08-14-70 the car is stamped 6/70. The Officer bought it from the original owner in Nov 1972 and had it until I bought it June 2009, out of Camas WA. He has certified the car had 53,293 miles when he sold it to me, I drove it home to Centralia Wa where it has lived since. The odo is now 65K and I just added 224mi yesterday.
  19. Hey @Zed Head just cause my car is green and slow, doesn't mean I am a turtle too. 😂 @ckurtz2 I answered your PM. I should be able to help you out.
  20. Right!?! "Thank you Mr. Customer. After purchasing all that performance stuff wouldn't you like a trailer hitch too?" Imagine a 3000 pound car with a maxed out 2000 pound load on a trailer.
  21. In a later catalog they list BRE cams as well as G/B cams. Maybe just a local parts supplier. With a coincidental name then. One catalog came with my car from a town near Portland, The later catalog came in a swap meet purchase.
  22. Has anyone here heard of Ger - Brock & Co. out of Portland OR? Just wondering if there was any connection in the Brock name. Geraghty - Brock?
  23. There is oil spray on the surface too, and most notably the out of true groove. I would venture to say that had been broken for some time while it was a runner. Hopefully mine will get him on to the next stage.
  24. That is quite possible I have only had 1 ZX and I sold the power steering off it a while ago. I do remember some where that the 79-80 had manual steering and the 81-83 had the power option. Thus the add on pulley would make more sense. This pulley came in a batch of parts I bought off a racer that was moving, so I do not know the full set up or year.
