E, I think that does help. I see a plastic nut with a post that can be threaded up or down. I suspect it got twisted a little by my 10 year old helper as it has some clean threads. Too late to mess with it tonight but I will put a wrench on it tomorrow and loosen it up... Rob

I feel like a newbie. I am putting my '73 240Z back together after paint and today I reassembled the door lock handle assemblies. They have been off the car for about a year and after I get them together the seem awfully tight. The handle hardly lifts and everything seems like it needs to be lubed... Do these things come back from the dead or do you have to buy new or hunt for good old? I have never had this problem with any of my old Z cars...

It matches up well with a phrase I am always telling my students. Common sense is not all that common anymore...

I do all have-to driving on my motorcycle. It seems to get 45mpg no matter what I do. Like clockwork. I turned 21500 on the way to work this morning. The bags allow me to haul pretty much anything I need to work. One tank of fuel lasts two weeks with my commute. Pretty nice.

The Porsche Cayenne hybrid which will come out next year suffers almost no performance disadvantage to it's fossil fuel brothers the Cayenne and Cayenne S. No kidding!

By next year Porsche will have a Hybrid Cayenne. Over half of Porsche production goes to the US and about half of that goes to California. I see a couple of scenarios that would meet the standard. One is that Porsche now has a controlling interest in VW and VW can easily meet that standard. They might appeal and say that Porsche and VW should be considered one company. They are also in the process of producing a new model called the Panamera. This will be a four door sedan and could also be a hybrid model. Basically when you say that Porsche may pull out of the US market and cease to produce the 911 you are saying that the company will cease operations. I disagree...

I like them. They look actually a lot more classic than the Kosei K1 Racing wheels I have. I would make them my second choice behind Panasports. The K1 are going though for sure...

I have seen black RTV used to caulk the cracks shut. I have seen silicone hose used but you have to find the right size. I managed to find the stock stuff but that was a few years ago. I may even have them... I have lots of parts.

I have one. Griffith or Griffin, I forget... Works well. My last Z I replaced with an OEM which also worked well. It just has to work, up to you...

I have used DAS and the car arrived with every orifice stuffed with Oregon snow. Grants Pass I suspect. This, somehow in a closed trailer. This last time, I used Horseless Carraige. Very careful and meticulous. I give them 5 stars!

Carl, The five schools I teach for agree with you. They find Wikipedia an interesting concept and in reality it will ultimately dictate meaning. However, students are not allowed to reference Wikipedia as an academic source. An ancient semiotician who's name escapes me said "whatever you call a thing, that is what it is". He was refering to the unique human ability to assign name and therefore meaning to a thing or phenomenon. This is why Wikipedia will ultimately dictate meaning. Interesting discussion... Not sure what you think is "hooie" as you don't reference anything at all... What do you think is "hooie". As to your first argument titled decision 1, do you actually think anyone in North America was fooled by a name change into thinking that Datsun was not a Japanese car? Americans would be stupid if they didn't know that Datsun was Japanese. The Japanese would have to think that Americans were stupid to attempt such a hoax. They were trying to distance themselves from the Nissan name which had some unsavory associations related to WWII. For your argument to be as you said a defensible position it would have to be accurate. It is not. I am not sure anyone has said that using the name Datsun was a fundamental blunder. The discussion was that it was considered a business error to change the name to Nissan in the 1980's. Then for your second argument, I believe it would be more accurate to say that kids don't know the name Datsun because it isn't a contemporary brand. It isn't culturally relevent to them. Culture is a powerful factor. Look at the difference on American college campuses between now and the 1960's. The world events are similar in that there is a war that many see as unjust going on now just as then. However, we have very little protest activity. The difference culturally is that there is no compulsory draft. That one factor changes the entire culture. 20 year olds now cannot even imagine themselves angry over it. It has nothing to do with them. It isn't culturally relevent. Just as there is no Datsun except historically, only Nissan is relevent.

A rope about the size of a clothsline is placed in the bead between the inner and outer flanges of the windshield weatherstrip. You then place the window in place with the weatherstrip on it and pull the rope from inside the car. The rope pulls the inner flange over the car body. Theoretically when you have pulled it all the way around you are good to go.

Carl is correct. That was the prevailing sentiment in WSJ and other business publications of the time. No matter what your opinion of either name, or how hung up you are on spelling... The degree du jour at the time was the MBA and more than one thesis was written about brand recognition and the Datsun - Nissan mistake. Ironically, the MBA degree is now as common as fleas on mongrel dogs and Nissan is an iconic brand name. I recall being disturbed by how bloated the ZX was as compared to the 240Z, then - they changed the name to Nissan! i vowed to never own a new one... That opinion has softened as I realized with time and age that the car had to get heavier and the name really didn't matter that much...

I recall doing those outer bushings a few years back. I hammered away at that spindle pin for hours until I finally got up, went to Sears, bought the biggest BFH they had and put that problem to bed. One could argue that the hours of banging I had done earlier effected the fact that it took only two hits with the BFH... Still, start with the biggest BFH you can find.

Sorry, I did not read anything but the first post and that I only scanned. If not enough voltage gets to the dropping resistors they will not fire the injectors. The engine will turn but not fire. This is clearly electrical. Ground problem?

It is possible your voltage drops so low when you turn on the headlights that the dropping resistors are not getting enough voltage.

Hopefully the reserve is fairly high. Right now the Euro is .650:1USD or less. The right European buyer could snatch this up for less than 20K Euro at reserve of $30K. If this goes through to sale, watch for it to be leaving the country. This was indeed a very special program. I was at the debut and auction of one of the first cars.
