  1. Staying with the Panasports was the right choice also LOVING the side stripes with my NOS badging!
  2. Mine looks the same. It needs some filler and sanding before I can even prime it. I was not thrilled with it either, but I plan to try to make it work. My only question is what color to paint it. Same as the rear valance around the lights, or body colored.
  3. I really need to do this, but I have my electric fuel pump mounted exactly in the same place. I built a bracket to mount it. I need to order this and get the car up on stands and make it all fit.
  4. It is staggering how long it took me to find Zcardepot. The packaging is absolutely first rate. The speed of shipment is top notch. Great vendor. I will be supporting him again. I will try to get these installed today. I have a huge bag of body clips to use that I bought when I did my roadster door skins. I am looking forward to seeing how these look installed myself, so pics are coming.
  5. I have been on this one since new, with my screen name: SCRAPPYDO With the flaws in all, this is still a nice car that has been done fairly well. If the body is mostly rust free the price is going to keep going up. If you take the time to read the comments on the car they are overwhelming positive. People are bidding and commenting on this car with their heart rather than their head. Which is good, as that is what keeps the Porsche cars such hot commodities. The pictures are going to put this car close to 30k. Mid 20's at least. An old crusty used car salesman told me one time that Looks Sell. I think this blue Z, while not poorly built, is proof of that.
  6. Glad I could help Eric!
  7. I wanted to chime in here. I just bought these from www.Zcardepot.com They look really well made. I will see if they fit this Friday when I try to install them. These come with new window felt and a really nice chrome strip.
  8. You rock Mike!!
  9. Need to find a 5 speed transmission for my 71 Z. Since I changed out the diff to a 3.90, I have been wanting a new transmission to get my highway cruising speed up. I suppose any 5 speed will do, but a close ratio would be great.
  10. Just a crazy idea, to make the drive up their less stressful, I am considering a 5 speed swap. Any ideas where I can get my hands on a good 81-83 5 speed? I already have a B type transmission, so it should just bolt in easy peasy. The idea of driving 3 hours at 4k rpm is a bit nauseating.
  11. Booked my hotel at the Austin Airport Hilton for 20-24th Zedyone will be there! Just curious, do we have to pay to park their nightly? Self parking is 10/day per the website...You would think that would be waved since we are mass booking for a car show.
  12. LOLOL well we will see where this leads. I am a pretty conservative guy to be honest. I do not get into trends that much. The panasports while common, do not offend and compliment the cars current color. I will keep my eyes on other options, but short of watanabe's I am not totally keen on much. I am also a bit leery of powder coating my current set as that is irreversible. I think this thread has run its course, but I am going to save all that hard work Mhoward did!
  13. Tough crowd! I would definitely go toward a darker bronze before anything else. I could try to plastidip them in dark bronze and report back the gallery I definitely would not go GOLD. It would have to be a bronze
  14. Brace yourself... This may be my next move. Powder coat
  15. I use to us that trick when I painted my models... good to know lessons learned as a kid still hold true!
  16. Yes sir, those are the ones you posted! I am trying to repaint the emblems now, but they are in a pretty bad state. I will keep trying. But I may have to order some. The passenger side was held on by double sided tape. The prongs have been broken off. So we will see.
  17. In that last pic it looked like the sticker was not flat past the 240Z numerals. I measured, and yep, it was crooked. luckily it still had a bit of the soapy water on the back and I was able to fix it. It was off a little over an 1/8" Now it is pretty darn close to perfect.
  18. I sent my combo switch and my turn signal switch into DAve and the results were just beautiful. The finish was perfect, and the quality of wire and overwrap and connectors were better than I could have hoped for. I recently sent in my hazard switch so he could do that too. I had no idea the hazard switch was so critical to the wiring of the Z. I am going to go ahead and install his Parking Light harness to go with my Headlight harness as well. CAnnot hurt. Has anybody tried the MSA fusebox replacement? Are they really better than OEM and worth 200 bucks?
  19. THat is amazing work! So very thorough! Love seeing this kind of attention to detail
  20. Buy a complete set of thread cleaning taps. NOT thread cutting taps. Before you put anything back into the block run those thread cleaning taps through them. This will ensure you get an accurate torque reading on everything you attach to that block. Few things in life are more satisfying than using new cad plated hardware into a fresh clean engine block.
  21. I currently run the Eibachs, and I went from Tokico HP's to the Eibach pros. The Eibachs are progressive as stated, and the ride is softer than the Tokicos, but they are darn fine for a street spring. They make getting up and over speed bumps a non scraping affair. They also allow a jack to be fitted with ease even under the spook. Having said that, I though my car looked more aggressive with the Tokicos and since they are NLA I may look into a set of these Vogtlands sprnigs. If they are made in Germany that makes them a cousin to Bilstien, which has to be good!
  22. I think what you are looking for is more Horsepower. The car can only be tuned to a correct setting. Their is not much to be gained from going leaner or richer from correct. Does the car stumble? Does the exhaust pop and spit when you are off the gas slowing down? The 240Z is a peppy car, but by todays standards it is not a race car.
  23. Also make sure the car can stop! No need to get it on the road and run it off into a ditch because the brakes are shot. Safety first.
