  1. HA! That brought back a memory. We got NBC - channel 29, and PBS, sort of... and CBS "kinda" if the weather was "odd". Nowadays, I bet I watch less than 4 hours of TV a year. I do watch movies and some series on Netflix... occasional movies on Amazon, and a lot car related content and some premier league soccer highlights on Youtube. Projector and screen in the entertainment room... and a 45" (I think) that I barely use... in the main living area. Recording and watching auto racing sounds like something I'd like. By the way, the people they use in television commercials now generally disgust me. I guess that is a far as I will go with that.
  2. I wonder if the car belongs to the Bubble Boy from Seinfeld.
  3. 2 points
Marty here are a few pics of the unit installed. The one pic shows two cables. These come from the back of the unit and are for a USB input, the other is for an MP3 input. The USB is a short cable and MP3 is a female jack. I had to buy longer cables to come from the back of the unit to the consul area for easier access. The pic showing the small hole below the volume control is an internal mic for hands free operation. Ralph, the guy who did my upgrade, installed this at no cost. Not sure if other authorized installers do the same. The upgrade does come with wired mic that plugs into a jack at the rear, then you can run the wire wherever you want. I believe it has 6 or 10 ft length.
  4. Just looked that up. OMG GTFO. Never seen that before. 🤣
  5. That Lume deodorant commercial is my favorite for the last little while.
  6. No interior pictures at all? Might not have any floor boards...
  7. I completely agree with this statement. I does look better than all the other candidates they have offered up. You can certainly expect there is a whole lot worse you can't see. And this is just classic.....sounds like they are selling a new car. ..."lighter with an ashtray" "sun visors" Amenities include air conditioning, driver-side mirror, manual-crank windows, analog clock, Hitachi vintage radio, center console, lighter with an ashtray, sun visors, glove compartment, and rear window louvers.
  8. Got the ultra hd box from xfinity today, wired up and WOW! Been looking at a 42" since 2009 with the lower hd settings, this blows it away. I think I can smell Lume girls funky body smells. Probably just need to clean house or wash the dog?
  9. The seller just posted his picture of how the car has been stored for the last 15 years. It's still only at 12K with two days to go. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-247/
  10. Lume. Here is my perspective on body odor. Over the years I have had some pretty nasty funk. Usually after drinking heavily, and back when I smoked cigarettes. It has also been an observation that some foods also lend a bit to the stink that emanated from my sweat glands. A number of things have resulted in little to no offensive body odor for me. I rarely consume alcohol these days, and when I do, it is with moderation. I quit smoking about 30 years ago. A more natural, whole food diet, including lots of onion and garlic. Of course a daily regimen of a thorough scrubbing with soap, and complete drying of the entire body, is crucial for keeping the bacteria on the skin held in check. After all, it is that pesky Carl guy who is still lurking about in those thigh folds, armpits, between the toes and on the ballsack. I haven’t used deodorant or antiperspirant in over twenty years. Don’t need to.
  11. I'm definitely not an expert on the subject, but according to https://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/power-train/transmission-assembly there are four part numbers for automatic transmissions. Of course, the gear ratios can be found in the FSMs on this site. The 73 FSM was the first that I found with AT section in the FSM. The rear end ratio is the same across all years. I can't think of a reason why there would be external dimension differences that would adversely affect installation. As for tips/tricks advice, I know I have seen a thread here or there on swapping in an automatic either on this site or zcar.com. The only recommendation I can make is to modify the wiring to the solenoid to add the neutral safety switch.
  12. I put the firewall pad in last weekend It's not very smooth on the passenger side and I may trim it some more to make it lay down better I also bolted these on, I will have to find some kind of foam to edge them with
  13. DIY home OCD test. Buy a house payments worth of of Ultra HD television. Count the times you get up to clean the screen after set up, fingerprints on the screen. The freaks come out at night...
  14. Part of the reason that people had kids in the 1950s and '60s was so that there was someone to get up off the couch, walk across the room to the TV set, and change the channel, adjust the sound level, or stop the horizontal roll. The world has changed. 😎
  15. Next step is a camera.. to look if your already a sleep and shuts off the tv...
  16. I have a few of those brackets on my parts cars.
  17. No way that I have found to confirm it - - but it is the highest number VIN I've seen so far on a Datsun 240Z. According to the VIN information published by Nissan - in the Factory Service Bulletins - HLS30 172732 was the last North American Spec. According to my notes - HLS30 172733 is in Colombia. HLS30 172753 was in New Zealand . Who knows? - might have been a couple more with higher VIN's sent to Europe/Africa etc. As of 1999 - it was owned by Tom Faulkner. Tom said the 240Z was originally sent to "Europe" directly from Japan. Tom bought it from the original owner in Switzerland and brought it back to Chicago six years prior. (so around 1993). Tom wrote: "It has a five speed transmission and left hand drive. The two front turn signals are not the curved type but are mounted on the top of the front bumper. It has a black air foil on the back door lid. It doesn't have any air pump stuff like the previous 240Z I had." It was on Craigs List in Tucon, AZ in 2015 having been inherited... FWIW, Carl B.
