  1. I've done a few of these wheels now, first photos are of 1 I stained and used polyurethane to refinish the wooden rim. The flat black paint was too black, I may re-do it in future. Next wheel I used roll bar paint in a semi-gloss black and it looks much nicer and closer to the original wheel finish for the paint. On this wheel I used a more flat rather than gloss polyurethane finish but I prefer the "pop" of the wooden rim above. However the spokes look better. Here is another wheel with re-plated hardware. And here is 1 refinished by Romas (from Facebook). He used automotive clear coat to get the glossy rim, which I like. For comparison, here is a NOS in the box wheel. I took was confused by the "blonde" looking colour in brochures, but have decided over time they must get darker and I'm fine with that as I actually prefer the dark redish colour. And I quite like the gloss on the wheel and semi-gloss black on the rim and of course the re-plated hardware. Some day I'll refinish 1 of these "just right". ha.
  2. Finally received the seat cover kit from Z Car Source, turned out much better. 👍
  3. Yes, very nice .. but i ask myself if that clearcoat is strong enough.. i used 7-8 coats of boat lacquer, the one you would use on those hardwood boats..
  4. Fuel delivery was the issue. Replacing the filter fixed it for a while, but it’s back to having trouble starting. I’m guessing more gunk from the gas tank made it throughout the fuel lines and is choking it out, so I’m having a shop clean out the tank and clear the lines. That being said, it looks like all electrical issues are resolved. I’m very grateful to everyone for their comments and helping me fix the issues!
  5. I finished the repair to the right side of the tail light panel today. Then I grabbed the tail light trim panels and the new plastic rivet-like fasteners (note the size of these original parts - some people use the wrong fasteners here) and worked on fitment. It is best to test fit and massage things now rather than after paint. Generally, the fit of my panels is good, however I have been able to improve it. The tail light finisher panels are made of thin metal and are easily tweaked. This car was tapped from behind, so I am making sure to spend time here to make things right. I used a small belt sander to clean up the edges of the panels... in some areas I removed material from the edges to improve the fit where the tail light panels overlap with the car body. I have many hours of hammer and dolly work in the tail light panel. I even had to shrink parts of the panel below the bumper line. In fact, I will also need to do some shrinking around the top left corner of the right tail light opening. It is pushed in a bit and is "oil canning" when I move it back where it belongs. I believe it got pushed in a tad when the car was tapped in the rear.
  6. One nice thing about the 78's raised wood floor is that there is lots of room to stash stereo components. I have several amps and a crossover mounted under my floor. I have an Alpine head unit and Polk 4" speakers in the stock locations in the panels fore of the rear wheel arches. I installed all this about 10 years ago, but I never did build a speaker box for the rear speakers, so I have lots of power, but no big speakers to drive. Someday along with the other 50 projects that the Z needs done.
  7. This is how mine turned out. I used clear gloss. I think it would be more correct with a semi gloss.
  8. Hahaha... 😂 we in europe do not work with Lbs's or Psi's but even i know that are 2 different worlds, yes 16 Psi.. that's about right.. (little over 1 bar/ato.) Have you cleaned out the complete engine waterworks? maybe there is a lot of dirt/limestone in your coolingsystem.
  9. Sure - copper conducts heat more efficiently than aluminum, but radiator efficiency involves more than just the metal used. Tube diameter, surface area, airflow restriction - in some designs, aluminum allows you to optimize these parameters better than copper does. To imply that all aluminum radiators are crap is a bit short-sighted - I've used an OE-style aluminum radiator in my Corvette for years, and it cools just fine.
  10. Jeff, you make a good point about the space you get under the raised deck. Lots of places to store, misc items and/or spare parts incase you break down on a trip. I am buying an amp too so it’s probably a good place to put it as well. I’ll continue to think about this and let you see the end results when I get it done. I should make a lot of progress on this interior this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Here is the cable I had to fix from a PO’s splices and snips that goes to the radio I wound each portion into separate bundles and wrapped them in a fabric wire wrap and labeled each bundle and connector. I did this so if I ever have to go back and fix a problem it will be easy to ID where in need to look. Shout out to wayne280z in the upper bleachers who created the color wiring diagram. This made it so much easier. What a great resource: Thanks Wayne. Picked up two other donor sections that connect C7 and C8 blocks to the center counsel (radio, hazard, defog, ash tray lights. Power antenna etc… here are pics of the bundles I got at the yard and the one I refurbished. Here is the radio I got too. It changes display colors to match the green lights in the dash.
  12. Passenger side floor pan complete, minus chasing pinholes with the welder.
  13. Late Christmas gifts from Bogota, Columbia today.
