  1. Driving a 240Z today surrounded by gigantic SUV’s and Pickup’s, all too often driven by distracted drivers - I’m beginning to think Automotive Air Horns or even Train Horns are a good idea.
  2. Blocked some more tonight The little flaws on the roof after they're spot filled I use blue tape to help crispen the body lines. You sand up to the tape. Then move it to the other side of the line and do it again Below the body lines tomorrow hopefully. I probably won't color this weekend because it's supposed to rain and I don't want to fight the moisture. So I will get set up and ready for color. Might color over the Christmas holiday with my new Xmas present paint gun 😉
  3. I've had a set of dual-trumpet FIAMM air horns on my car for over 45 years. Not needed very often but get the job done when required! The trumpets are installed on the front side of the radiator support to get that sound right out front.
  4. Hello Again, I thought I would let everybody know That JDM parts has a rebuild kit for the Nikki 271070 fuel pump. At $125 it is not cheap. I confirmed with the company that the kit will work on all Nikki 271070 fuel pumps, regardless of the car model (as indicated in the article in the post above the 271070 pump was used in several different Datsun models.) Here is a link to the rebuild kit. https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/nikki-fuel-pump-rebuilt-kit-for-prince-ha30-fairlady-s30-skyline-gc10-with-l20-l24-engine?variant=39616128811117 Happy Holidays Jim
  5. The guy in the sanding board video made an interesting statement. He says that they start cutting their filler when its soft. They don't let it harden first. I have a cheese grater for that but I find its easy to over cut with the cheese grater. They may even be using 80 grit to do that? I agree, I do so many things now by watching you tubes. Air bags, bmw suspension, etc. Amazing what's out there
  6. That's how mine came 5 or so years ago. Sadly, it's still in the same box and is sitting next to the car. I did drive it a few miles today. 🙂
  7. Great wordplay! This is very funny, thank you.
  8. Just got my xenon 3125 drop shipped from xenon through an eBay reseller. Packaging seemed much nicer than your experience @Av8ferg My wife’s cat for scale
  9. Tabco would be my last choice! I would contact kf vintage https://kfvintagejdm.com/ Many times if they don't have it, they will make it for you
  10. The rebuild kit is cheap compared to finding yourself getting a tow truck after one of the recent aftermarket fuel pumps fail.
  11. The discussion about hand throttles: I did a search / topics "hand throttle" and I also did a search / topics "hand throttle delete". Happy reading Long thread but a couple of interesting comments Great thread
  12. Several very early (ie 69 production mostly) 240Z's arrived with the Hand Throttles, once the legal issue was realized - they were disabled at Nissan's Port Facilities prior to delivery to the Dealers. The Dealers were also notified and instructed to disable or remove them prior to sale. It was against the law to Sell a new car with a hand throttle in most States - - but not against the law for a private owner to have on their car. Lots of owners ordered the parts over the Datsun Part Counter at the Dealerships and installed them themselves. None ever came from the factory to the US on any Series II 1971 240Z's. The one installed on this Z does have the early style Choke/Throttle knob's.
  13. Thanks for posting this. From what I have gathered you use whatever it takes to work the panel. I think a lot of times you make one from popsicle sticks or whatever when needed to fit what you're working on. The people that do this for a living make this look easy. I'm doing my car on all OJT, posting videos and info like this is worth its weight in gold. About 25 years ago I was going to fix a dent on the roof of one of my VW Bugs, well after 3/4 of a gallon of Bondo and air filing and sanding, I gave up. I could never make it right. Hopefully I have better results as a grown adult and a little more access to knowledge.
  14. So I did watch some videos today. There are evidently a lot of Acrylic boards on the market today. Who knew??? Also he doesn't like hook and loop paper. How about that... Super cool paint job
  15. Dave, he told me $395 is the standard rate unless it’s really bad. Shipping is almost free for me so it works. Spoke to the guy in Pittsburgh on the phone and he was very familiar with the Z tank and inspired confidence. Said he’s gotten a lot of Z and RX tanks this year. 2 week turn around.
  16. Been watching some videos, looks like bolts in the tank are key to agitating everything. Thanks for the tips.
  17. I spoke with Taka over at Kyusha House, very nice by the way, and we identified the manifold as a Mikuni. Even though there is no stamping, Taka let me know that there are version with and without stamping. I opened up one of the carbs to get a better idea of the inside condition and luckily it was not bad at all. No jets appeared clogged and there was no gunk in the bowl. I think (and hope) an ultra sonic cleaning will suffice. From there I would like to get all of the hardware plated so I will be researching recommended places to send the hardware off to. Also, it is nice that rebuild kits are easy to come by. Even the diaphragms are available which I will replace just in case. The jetting installed looked to be the original jets and choke size, so I will start with these and see how she runs. I will take a break from working on the car during the holidays, so I have been playing with Fusion 360 in my spare time. I came up with a simple velocity stack design, 100mm long. No idea if my initial radius are optimal, but its an easy change. I tried to maximize the diameter of the trumpet without causing interference with its neighbor. The flange was super easy to create! Up next will probably be a throttle cable bracket as I am missing that piece on my first carb. Everything will be printed in ASA, which should have enough heat tolerance for this application. A heat shield under the carbs will also be used.
  18. As soon as I get home, I’m dropping the tank, boxing it up and sending it out. Will get that Uhaul box. Thanks Jim!, you da man! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Didn't you get the memo? All Classic Z Car members must wear their requisite pieces of flair when posting 😉
