    Talk about a time capsule...
  2. Nottingham is a pretty cool town. Lots of pubs and good places to eat. We went out tonight and the town is crawling with young women...the guy I’m flying with said there is a 1-5 male to female ratio in this city. This is the place to be if your a single guy and dangerous if your married and have a weakness for women. Went to the “oldest inn and pub in England” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'll have to take a look at this closer tonight. I don't remember exactly what I did, but once I look at the linked thread, it might spark a memory.
  4. Here's Jeff g helping me with mine. It jumps around but maybe read over some of the post and you may get that light bulb in your head. Good luck with it!
  5. Hey thought I toss this out there. I’m in the UK and parts of Europe for the next week+ for work. I know we have some regulars on the forum from the old world and I thought I see if I’m going to be near any of you. I’m currently in Nottingham, UK. Will have about 90 hrs off here for the weekend. Flying to Liege, Belgium (staying in Maastricht, Netherlands) and also have a layover in Basel, Switzerland for about 17 hrs later next week. If anyone is near those areas let me know if you want to get a coffee and meet up. On the Covid front....Good to see the world opening back up. Stores and restaurants are open over here. Sitting in a diner now having a proper English breakfast...they eat baked bean with their eggs? When In Rome...you know the rest! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks, I will look for that info. In my case the job will we quite, easy as I have already removed the transmission.

I got a bunch of stuff done in the past couple of weeks, when I bought the headliner it came in a small box and was badly creased, I stapled it to some 1"x2" and hung it on the wall, a year and a half later the creases have worked themselves out. So got the headliner hung by the bows, the exhaust system almost finished, the rest of the engine put together, door glass and quarter windows installed. Also the hood and trunk lid are done.
  8. Thanks Site, great reference and will help. Cheers, Mike

They figured out how to get Alabamians to vaccinate. No spectators again this fall if the data doesn't improve. Phones are ringing off the hook at my pharmacy and other locations to get in. Priorities people, Alabama's #1.
  10. Getting close to pulling the engine, so I picked up a two ton shop crane and engine leveler that was on sale. The leveler has "L" brackets on the end of the chains so I started to see what was required to attach these to the engine. @Racer Xposted pictures of the OEM lifting brackets so that was my starting point. Here is what the OEM's look like: After reviewing this I thought it made sense, on the front mount, to attach the leveler "L" bracket at the OEM location, and to use both of the two M8 holes that the OEM bracket used. So I took some measurements and made a sketch to fab a small angle to pickup the second bolt. Right after I finished the sketch I had a light bulb moment, thinking "Hey, I have an old spare engine in my shed". It's from a December 1970 parts car I picked and stripped over 30 years ago. To my amazement, it still had an original early single bolt front lifting bracket. It had no rear bracket, but it won't be to difficult to use one of the "L" brackets back there. Here is that sketch I made for those who might be interested, with the OEM bracket after I cleaned it up a bit.

  12. Yeah, Covid is making things tough all round. We are finally starting to loosen the restrictions. I'm so happy they lifted the curfew and started opening things up again. Maastricht is a beutiful city, plenty things to see and do. That sounds like a good plan. Two weeks notice should be enough to work something out. Have a safe trip and maybe we can catch up next time you are here.
  13. When checking for spark at the coil, this is what I did. And that was from a 280ZX distributor that had wobble in the shaft, so it didn't have the proper gap at the reluctor.
  14. Brake drums were froze onto the stub axle. Luckily I had an old drum puller from an old stubborn Mustang. Soaked hub concentric with Kroil, tightened the puller a bit, then rapped on the drum center with a mallet to break loose. Now Im debating whether or not to replace the real axle bearings. Off the car I'm worried I might not be able to get the axle nuts loose. Bearings aren't bad, but they do make a tiny bit of noise on the bench. Probably the original bearings, and likely pretty dry. Looks like I also have a shorter wheel stud I need to replace. I test fit the rear struts and the Koni gland nuts will work fine.
  15. Wish I had Rudy's contact info for you. He has a Z car restoration shop in Belgium. He also restores early Mustangs. Met him and his wife Irena in Branson 3 years ago. A very knowledgeable guy. Zup has his contact info. Rudy is to the left of Zup in the picture.
  16. It looks like the same company has a new hatch strut for the 260-280z models. This might also work with a 240z, my 73 model appears to have a similar design (although just 1 strut). https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/strong-arm-4777-gas-charged-hatchback-lift-support/ I ordered a set, I'll update when they get here.

Here's another media bias chart, but I don't like it as much as the other one. Why? Because it makes no distinction as to the reliability of the source, just the political lean. The other chart above produces the bell curve by rating both reliability AND political leaning and I think it provides a much better "at-a-glance" view of the situation. I also don't like the fact that this chart it's a mish-mash mix of "opinion" and "news" sources. For example... Fox News Opinion (oxymoron) is listed as far right as you can go, while Fox News "news only" is still listed as right leaning, but not as much. That's fine and all makes sense to me. My issue is that they have CNN listed as "on-line news opinion only" (another oxymoron) and it's in the leftmost column. So is that CNN's opinion category, or CNN's news category? It's not split up like Fox is. Same with MSNBC. Other's make perfect sense, like Wall Street Journal". Their news section is in the middle, while their opinion section leans right. I get it. But they should provide the same treatment to all the media outlets and many of them they didn't separate the news and opinion. But anyway, here's another chart with all my (clearly my opinion) caveats: That one came from here >> https://www.allsides.com/blog/new-allsides-media-bias-chart-announcing-version-4
