You guys are sick....get a grip! Seek help........before you do something stupid....over and over 🤪
  3. Concur with the above ^^ comments. Here is a pic of the seal I replaced during my rebuild. I think it’s supposed to be flush like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. How does everybody manage to take photos and/or videos while working on a project? I am always too busy and my hands are always dirty, so getting my phone out take pics mid-job never happens. I do try to stop and document a few times once I finish a task and clean my hands and always do at the end of the day or when the project is completed. I guess many of you have kids that you can lean on to be the photographers.
  5. I once had a friend with also arthritis and stuff.. problems. He had alot of air tools that way he could tinker still on his S-class Mercedes..which was a big hobby of his. You could do that also. Me myself.. i just turned 60.. I've got so many problems (Heart, spine, knees, neck, tailbone, thyroid gland, hands etc..) i also have days that i don't do a thing.. Once a specialist sayd to me i had cancer.. than it went away.. after half a year or so i got it again.. went to Radboud (a very knowledgeable university hospital) again and again it was the same cancer.. (Just on another spot on my scul.. and.. it went away.. this came and went another 4 times over.. These last years i got a problem with my lymf nodes and told a specialist what kind of trouble i got.. and the answer was: Sorry but thats impossible! (I'm still angry about that stupid answer!!) At the end of the day you just have to think: there are people who have even worse problems... i do...

I know right..... I emailed them, it is a real estate agent, and rather rude. I asked for more pictures and they reply was "I posted a lot of pictures" There is only one in the CL ad. After that crickets....... Hi, my name is Dave and I have a Z problem.........🧰🛠️🔩⚙️
  7. Yes, the seal on @Av8fergs pic looks good. Too bad the timing cover is so shiny.
  8. Haha! I got two parts to the answer to that... First is that the pics of that backing plate work was a special situation where I had other people over for a "rear bearing party". I was doing mostly directing and telling other people what to do (clearly, as it should be). On that day, I got to hold the camera and take pics of other people doing real work. That's not me swinging the hammer, it's one of the other attendees. The second part to the answer is "I've found it worth the effort to try to make it happen." By that, I mean... I do so many car projects (that I have to refer to again sometime in the future) that I really now try to take pics along the way. Still, there are plenty of projects that, just like Jeff, I'm in hurry-up mode and can't deal with the camera at the time. And as Murphy dictates, those hurry-up jobs are invariably some of the ones I WISH I had pics of at some point later.
  9. Transmission rebuild complete. Shooting to have this and the engine installed for good in the next few weeks.
  10. No, that does not look OK. Not only is it pressed in too far, but the seal is damaged. Bent and creased on the left side in the pic. You cannot use this seal anymore. If you haven't already, you need to pull that one out and throw it out and start over. Sorry. And also... Be very careful of the position of the keyway that drives the harmonic balancer. Make sure it's correctly sitting in it's groove before you push the pulley (balancer) into place. If you don't you could crack the balancer when you tighten the big bolt in the front.

There's a lot of goodies there for $2000.00
  12. Hi all, decided to share my recent install of Datsun Spirit ITB's. Got tired of fiddling with the SU's and I always liked the look of 6 velocity stacks on these engines. A friend at work loves my car, but he is a young guy who likes modern stuff! He tried to get me to swap in an RB26, we compromised on ITB's. He provided his garage and his labour for the privilege of working on the car! The motor is bored out 85mm, 280Z crank, 268 comp cam with a street port and polish, it was always very finicky with the SU's, for some reason the weather seemed to affect the way it ran and idled, and it always ran rich even with nozzles turned down to only a 1/2 turn from closed. Anyway that is all history! Several thousand dollars saw delivery of an ECU masters Classic black ECU, ECU masters wiring harness ( very good value, all labelled for each coil, injector and sensor for about 110 US),Burton fuel sump which allows retention of all fuel lines and mechanical pump,One Six Industries crank angle sensor, Patton Machine coil bracket, F150 coils, and of course the beautiful Jenvey ITB's, manifold, injectors and Datsun Spirit designed heat shield. 13. The shininess is probably why it is going for such a high number. Bright things attract the wild things, like barracuda.
  14. Thanks Man, being in good shape has really helped me, first with the chemo, then with the surgery. I'm on a drug that targets a rare mutation in the cancer, only 1% of cancers have it, so hopefully that will buy me some time! I appreciate all the good wishes from everyone, positive energy helps me cope ! Mark

Are you going drive up to Kent and take a look at them? One could remind the real estate agent the property is worth more without 'junk cars' sitting on it. and offer a much lower price. No titles doesn't make them parts cars, it just makes them a lot cheaper in my book. We bought our 81 RX7 with no title. It took couple of months and a bit of frustration because the original owner lived in Washington and we needed an Oregon title but we succeeded.
  16. Yeah, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no way that bent one would ever seal. It's important to get the seal pressed evenly and squarely all the way around. If you don't have a press (that can help assure squareness during assembly) and you're doing it by hand/eye, you need to make sure you don't get it cokked on an angle while you're pushing it in. Those seals have a thin metal reinforcing structure molded inside the rubber. If you bend that internal structure, you're screwed.
  17. @Captain Obvious thx for that I’ll order them, I prefer the dirty JDM yellow lights. I switched all the exterior lights to LED except the license plates because the cool white looks out of place. Trying to de-yellow the plastic, I cleaned it off with some purple power and a toothbrush to remove the grime. The solution is hydrogen peroxide, and the UV light is one that I used to locate AC leaks. I threw on a rechargeable lithium battery so I can leave it on for several hours. Shall see in the morning. Hopefully it’s still there.

  19. I should have the car back next week.
  20. thats too far in, should sit flush with the outside face of the timing cover. I think thats in danger of falling in!

I think this yellow one is still out there Mark. It's more visible now, the shed has fallen down around it, but I don't think it's moved at all. It has to be full of mice, just has to. 45.60803579621207, -122.86242506500992

  23. The head gasket comment prob due to having never done this before. If you are careful you can preserve the existing head gasket, you just have to exercise some care when re installing it. the TC cover slides just under the gasket surface, if you ham fist it, you could bugger up the gasket. You want to pull the oil pan down a bit and kind of tilt the TC cover into place with the gap at the bottom of the pan providing clearance while sliding in. there are alignment dowels so once you get it started under the head gasket the dowels will come into play and get everything lined up. here is the video, its more talk than action as I don't like to try and setup cameras and do work, but I do try to talk thru the hard parts, and what to look out for.
  24. He builds engines. He probably just rebuilds his every 20,000 miles. And never drives through construction zones or if the wind is blowing.
  25. I believe a lot of the heat gain in carbs and itb's is through radiation not convection. I believe Ive got that right. So blocking the line of sight with an appropriate medium greatly reduces heat gain.
  26. Hey Grannyknot, I talked to Eiji at Spirit Datsun about a filter setup, he said "where am I driving, the Sahara?"! Doesn't use them at all on his car. I think I will get some socks to filter big particles if I'm going on a road trip. We tied to keep the mechanical linkage for the throttle, but it was really too much bother, would of had to replace the throttle shaft . I'll look at the routing for the cable, we tried to keep a gentle curve so the cable wouldn't bind. The fuel lines around the sump are not too pretty, but I wanted the sump to make it easier to revert to stock setup.
  27. Hey BAS-DXB, unfortunately I am not doing well and I have not been able to work on the Zed for some time. I may have to sell it soon due to health concerns, I had surgery to remove a lung due to cancer, which has regrettably returned. Never smoked and was a fitness nut until I started getting short of breath working out. Any way I think that duffymahoney on this site would be a great guy to ask questions about ITB's. He is much more knowledgeable than I! Good luck with your project!
