  1. That's turning into a thing now? @Diseazd you have started a trend! Plane propellers and ship's wheels have been high end decorations for years now. I have a collection of emblems off cars and motorcycles that I've crashed. Not a showy thing but as a reminder of money up a wild hogs arse.
  2. Drill a hole in the bottom of it, shove a thick bar inside it and beat it out, it was the only way I could do it, you’ll need something to hold the perch of it, if I recall I would beat it, spray pb blaster in it, flip it upside down, wait an hour and come back and keep beating it. you’ll win. order a flapper disk thingy so you can sand down all the $^!# inside it, or your not gonna be able to insert the new strut.
  3. You have the quarter. I would use it. How is your welding? I dont know that I would do it exactly like the factory. I would like to leave the inner structure alone at yhe roof and along the side of the hatch. If the dogleg was good on the donor, I might remove whats there and put all new donor metal You will probably need to work on the wheel wells and maybe even the metal below the antenna. It took a pretty good shot. You could always get the old quarter off and have someone else mount the new one. Weld slow and lots of breaks
  4. I've always wanted to decorate my workshop & Garage with some authentic Vintage datsun signs or so, but they're not exactly easy to come by.. So when this one popped up, i had to get it immediately. Yesterday i undertook a 6 hour drive to the other, french speaking side, of the country, to pick up this vintage dealer sign. Due to the language barrier and short time we had, i wasn't able to figure out the history. But the seller had other, similar signs, so i guess it must have been part of a combination with other signs outside a dealership in the french speaking area of switzerland. Nevertheless. i loaded it into the back of my car and brought it home. It's basically an aluminum frame with a plexiglass front which has the datsun logo printed on it somehow (it doesn't seem to be a vinyl sticker or so) I wasn't really sure if it's working or not, and honestly i was expecting the inverters to explode when i power them up, simply to the fact that it hasn't probably been used in decades. But this beeing an "industrial grade" outdoor sign, made by a well known swiss signmaking company, it just came alife as soon as i installed the cable and plugged it in. great! Now i have to find a nice place for it, it is much bigger then what i expected when i bought it. but i love it 🙂 Probably will convert it to LED lighting before hangig it somewhere on the wall, to avoid a repair after a few working hours. This thing is big and it might e tricky to hang it somewhere, so it better should stay there forever 🙂
  5. Nope, it's completely gutted and the inner panel is cut out to lighten it...the entire back side is cut out to lighten it. This is posed in one of the Facebook groups and there are pix of the backside. Someone mentioned something about the wheels... I think I looks pretty good with them!
  6. Just for interest, in Alan's photo of the Nissan documentation, you see brake pad material listed, here you see it clearly on the pad (in this case DS11);
  7. I was gonna say a wide band is a must have tool to dial in webers
  8. Jist remember going to the 6AL isn't going to gain you a lot. It will also make you car less stock which makes it harder to diagnose. If I wanted to make power, reworking the ignition would be pretty far down the list. Provided I wasn't running points...
  9. Switching back to the unibody... I found another place that needs some dent removal with the stud welding gun and puller: A few rounds of welding pins and pulling and tapping with a hammer and punch, and things are flattened out nicely. I use a touch of body filler to finish it off. Also, it is time to execute on the plan to address these holes from the factory in the bottom of the rockers: There are two of these oval holes in each rocker along the bottom, inside edge of where the inner and outer rocker panels are spot welded together - one at the front and one at the back. It seems the factory wanted these to be there to drain water out of the rockers. Well, water should never be getting in there! And that is my plan. This oval design acts as an entry point for water that blows down the bottom surface of the rocker panel. It allows entry into the rocker panel and that is not acceptable. To address that issue, but still allow for drainage in case water finds its way in, I made these and plan to weld them in place: Held in place with a magnet to keep it from dropping inside, these are little shields that will allow water to drain out, but shield the opening from water running from front to back on the bottom surface of the rocker. I have other plans that I will implement to eliminate water from getting into the unibody structure. I will be addressing, with a water proof solution, the emblem attachment holes, door tag rivet holes, door sill screw holes, etc. The metal surfaces inside this car's rockers will never see moisture again!
  10. Haha, not a bad idea. Ill most likely just save for the 6AL, I plan on doing it very soon anyways. I don't like finding posts without a solution so I will always post the solution on my threads. Thanks for the help, now to make a new thread if my jetting is proper for my Engine setup
  11. 1 point
    Consider the source. Looks like just more distraction. Essential part of the shell game. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/trump-announces-rudy-giuliani-has-covid-n1250163
  12. One of the basic rules of torubleshooting a new problem is to go back and look whatever changes were made before the problem showed up. A coil swap is simple and will take that possibility out of the equation. As far as the coil goes, factory parts are almost always of better quality than aftermarket. MSD is not even owned by MSD anymore. It's a brand name, owned by Holley. And Holley was purchased by private equity back in 2012, after they went bankrupt a couple of times. Private equity firms are all about profit. Basically, MSD and Holley and most of the big auto names many of us grew up with are really just brand names now, parts are manufactured wherever the cheapest labor is. Sorry. Hate to be a downer... https://www.holley.com/brands/msd/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holley_Performance_Products
  13. 😂 Yeah right.. I have never seen one without it... If you can go for a early modell with the stainless in the front of the bumpers.. they still have the looks of the s30 240/260/280z's ... I restored a euro version without those nasty looking bumpers, it costs about 30-35 grand.. it's not a cheap hobby IF done right!
  14. I’ve seen kinks and I’ve seen hoses that are so stiff they impede choke motion. OEM stuff is amazing, the 40 year since last started last Z I’ve been playing with, still had soft hoses I’ve been using the silicon tubing that RC hobby stores sell for the nitrous fuel they use in RC car and airplane engines. Comes in different colors too! Pink is nice. No doubt Z Therapy has some input on this Wait I’m Canadian, COLOURS.
  15. Or ditch it for a RT Mount and fix the less than optimal design.
