  1. Probably just a problem with your computer screen resolution. Dennis
  2. You beat me to it! I was going to suggest a better pair of glasses. Be very careful out there young man.
  3. All I know is that my body guy decided to bring in someone else to do this portion. He said the guy is a nuclear welder and the most experienced he knows. He wanted to factor in flex etc to make sure the paint would not crack. He assured me 100% that it would last and that I would be happy with the end result. Given the work so far, I trust his judgment. And as I said before, it's always a plus when the guy doing the work gets really excited about something like this. Thought I would also share an update on my other project car. The feature in Performance BMW magazine is finally out. US copies should be in stores soon. If anyone never read the Petrolicious article, here it is too. https://petrolicious.com/articles/this-engine-swapped-six-speed-sedan-is-the-m7-that-bmw-never-built For any who don't know, it's a 2001 BMW 740 M sport that I got from the original owner. 38k miles. I had a friend build an M5 S62 V8 before another friend swapped in the rebuilt engine, ESS supercharger, M5 6 speed, M5 diff with 4 clutch upgrade, 750 rear subframe with upgraded brakes, Brembo front BBK with 2 piece rotors, Bilstein HD shocks, H&R springs, UUC sway bars, modern BMW navigation/idrive, wrapped up with a custom dyed interior from tan to caramel/black.
  4. Now, is that a 'replica' or a proper 'fake'...? Here's The Real Thing, for reference: Just in case anyone is confused, the funny one is on the right.
  5. Trump does not look so bad in the right light. Here is our leader: The queen of carbon tax:
  6. Ahhh no thanks but you are welcome to take a selfie with him, Justin loves selfies.
  7. I would love to know what epoxy you're using. I don't think it will hurt the product reputation at all, since it seems to be bonding. I have used Nason epoxy on bare metal that I had treated. Now we sand everything pretty good after we treat it, and I have had no bonding issues from that. The only paint failures I've had are from active rust under the new paint. I do know that they don't want you to acid treat metal before epoxy, but I have done it successfully so far. Most of the body guys I've talked too tell me I need to paint bare metal the same day. That I can't let it sit without painting it. It's just not really feasible for me to do that sometimes. I keep the humidity in my shop pretty low so the metal doesn't really surface rust when it sits.
  8. The thing is, not all pumps are created equal. Just because the factory pump does X a free flow does not mean it will do the same as another pump under load. Example: say the factory pump does 22.5 free and 10 at 5 psi. and another pump does 30 free but only 3 at 5 psi, it still won't be good enough. Yeah, I toyed with float levels a bit, even made them higher than stock and still no benefit. I like your off vehicle float adjustment.
  9. I'll trade you straight across: Trump for Trudeau. Cheers, Mike
  10. The part 01125-00062 is also on the 1985 200sx and the “packing” and both are still available. Going to order today and see what I get Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  11. BIG EDIT Sorry about this but the 1/2"x20 is completely wrong, You are looking for an M8x1.25 bolt. I was looking through my notes and 1/2"x20 is what I have there but that must be for something else, I just went out to the storage shed to dig out the gas tank. A 1977 280z gas tank has M8x1.25 drain bolt. Note to self, re check my notes
  12. Thanks, Cliff. That low fuel level made me wonder if it is float level related.
  13. I haven't read all the post but I found my low float level after running up a very long and steep mountain. About half way up it started running on the back carb, half power. I cut the wheel and rolled it perpendicular with the road, cranked on it a few times and it cleared right up. Went about another mile, same thing. I went back down and it ran great the rest of the way home. After a week I had the floats set right and it runs fantastic now all the way to 6,000-6,5000 rpm. Sorry if already told this but it's the best thing I've done to my SUs. Cliff
  14. Just a public service announcement to make sure we're all talking about the same stuff... This is silicon bronze: But THIS is silicone bronze: I'm Captain Obvious, and I approve this message.
  15. Me too! I'm sorry for the joking around but as Dennis says it rainy and cold out so that's my excuse, like it or not. Cliff
  16. The use of "nitty-gritty" and "willy-nilly" is the the same post is okey dokey by me and an easy peasy way to liven up the discussion. Sorry, it's cold outside and I'm home alone, unsupervised. Dennis
  17. For any late-arrivers. This is how the slide starts. Inability to be civil. Can't make an argument without calling names. Calling people stupid before trying to make the point is a sure sign that there's no substance to the words that follow. We're seeing a lot of it these days, by supposed leaders in both England and the US.
  18. I’m guilty of this transgression on my 370... I did this about 5 years ago when I added the Japanese amuse body kit.
  19. Super Troopers? Dazed and Confused? Smokey and the Bandit, Buford T. Justice? Better of Dead? Slams into a car in front but not in reverse. So many stupid movies, so few brain cells! Good luck, sleep well tonight.
  20. That's the other word. M'FairLady Z.
  21. The flat top HMB46 carbs are very misunderstood. Nobody takes the time to properly understand their operation and therefore people think ditching them is the solution. Unfortunately the internet being want it is, it means once a rumour and story takes hold it gets repeated often enough that people believe it's the truth. Hence many have been thrown out over the years unnecessarily..sad really.
  22. Hi Kats, I think the air box, the much maligned HMB46 carbs and the different intake manifold (N42) added a good bit to the extra bhp of the European 260Z, and not just down to extra cc's over the 240Z's L24.
